      A DS (from another platoon)didn't like the way I was moving and pushed me against another PVT than proceeded to pick me up and slam me against him, over and over. I didn't say anything until that same DS a couple weeks later decided to kick me off of a bus after my DS told me to get on it. After getting off my DS (Hurricane Johnson) went crazy on me about getting off the bus. No win situation. The other DS came out and started yelling at me and to my surprise my DS asked me WTF was going on. At that time I told him. My DS put me back on the bus, a bunch of us were picked for a 4th of July function. I will always remember my DS asking me "did he put his fucking hands on you". When I got back the whole platoon had been questioned by the C.O. All of this had happened after a soldier in C Co killed himself. Two DS' had to apologize to me in front of the C.O.. I never heard about it again. DS Hurricane Johnson was one of the best NCO's I ever had. B Co 2/54 Ft. Benning, Ga.

    During shakedown the girl next to me was crying because she hadn't brought enough underwear and I couldn't keep a straight face. Immediately, I had 3 drill sgts in my face, shouting at me what I found so funny and what came out was, "Her lack of panty planning, Drill Sgt!" very loudly. It earned our platoon our first smoke session (for laughing) and put me on my drill sgts' radar.
    Two days later I was forced to down a canteen full of water and puked it right back up on my drill sgt's boots. His response was, "Out-doggone-standing! She even pukes Army Green!" The story (and the quote) made the rounds and by nightfall everyone knew my name.
    Then I choked in the chow hall and had to be given the Heimlich, which put me on the Company Commander and First Sgt's radar (along with the guy they gave a medal to for saving my life).

    Binge watching. I haven't tried so hard to become a part of something probably ever. For once I feel like, other than being a mother, which is the most important thing ever, my life may have a purpose and I will be able to make a difference. Gotta get some tats removed, get my ged, and get a waiver and after that I pray to the amazing man upstairs that my journey begins.

  • @doom4067

    For most people, it's not too difficult to not get noticed. There will be at least one person that thinks he's special and can't not make himself the center of attention. In my platoon we had about five, with one clear winner.
    They didn't know who I was until graduation.

    One time we were marching under the hot sun (11 AM) and suddenly one of the privates collapsed.
    Instinctively, I broke formation and helped up the private. The DS yelled at us (me and the fainted private) for breaking formation. I replied *Drill Seargent, my battlebuddy is down and the Private has to to help his battlebuddy*
    One moment of silence later....we got smoked and had to do push-ups on the blacktar road under the hot sun...Can you imagine how a road can heat up near midday?

    I came upon your videos by accident but am enjoying myself watching them because they bring back memories I experienced in Basic Training at Ft. Jackson from Sept. 1988 -Dec. 1988. I spent about three weeks in Fitness CO before moving on to actual Basic Training so that is why my stay there was so long. I served from 1988-1996 and am a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I could go on and on but I won't. If I had one piece of advice...don't volunteer to be a Road Guard. Someone gave me that advice on my way to MEPS in KC and then when I finally got to Basic the Drill Sgt handed me an orange Road Guard vest and I didn't want to take it but I had no choice and from that moment on I ran every fricking where whether I was in PT uniform or marching with a full rucksack...not fun. lol

I was doing the right things, and they started too notice me, made me a squad leader, then PG and I ended up doing so well that I got Soldier leader of the cycle, I got too lead the battalion in the soldiers creed, I got wavered too PV2, and got too introduce the Tradoc Comander, Battalion commander, sergeant major, and post commander to the people who showed up at my graduation. Those are accomplishments I wouldn't trade for the world. Aim high, do your best, be the standard! Alpha Co. 260th Fort Jackson

    I din't any sports before coming there and as you can imagine I was the very last ot ALL THE COLLEGE in PT test. I did my 1 mile run in 11:30 by crawling to the finish line.

    Hello Matt, first of all, thank you for your work, you are doing a fantastic job at giving me a lot of motivation and information!
    I also had an extra question : in many videos, you mention the training you conducted prior your Basic Training. From what I understood, you were doing 200 push-ups, 200 pull-ups, 2 miles in the morning, 2 miles at the end of the day. Were you doing more exercices ? And how were you doing the push-ups/pull-ups ? In one large session with breaks or like your running, half in the morning, half at the end of the day?
    Thanks a lot and keep going, you're a example for me!

    I remember years ago, we were all asked "Who here can play a musical instrument?"
    I could, but there was NO WAY I was going to volunteer that information. I had been warned prior to leaving basic.
    Long story short, those that didnt know how to play an instrument got processed first, the ones that did got smoked outside.
    Do not volunteer anything! 😅

    Hey Matt you should do a video on hrap. I heard you talking about it in your last video briefly and had questions. Do you go to the recruiting station you enlisted with or your home state? I started off my enlistment where I graduated high school but then had to move and am finishing the process where I'm living now. Will they send me back to Florida (where I'm living now) or utah ( where I graduated high school) or can I pick since I'm paying for the plane ticket?

    Hey Matt love your videos! Future infantry soldier in Canadian army here. Just wondering if DS's are nicer to women or favor them over men (generally speaking)? I am guessing the answer is no and I am prepared for it since in the military everyone is supposed to be on equal footing, but I would like to think I would have the upper hand in the situation so it doesn't appear so daunting in my mind lol.

I still can see that beasts face ,,his eyes drilling right thru me. I was the first in my Company to A) be put in front leaning rest and B) run in that freaking sand pit. All before chow.

    I wanted to fly under the radar so much but being one of the shortest (4’11”) on the plt and being able to keep up with the tall ass people didn’t help so much.. 🙃
    Got labeled “tiny troop” or “mini-me’s” 🙃
    Also, we made the beds and slept on top of it so we didn’t have to make it in the morning.
    Tip: if it’s barracks maintenance time and you really need to just close your eyes for a sec..firstly: finish your work than you can lay your blanket between the bunks on the floor and you can sleep there but keep a sharp look out👁 😂😂

    Prepare for reality, not TV shows, movies , computer games, etc. Don't arrive under light MK ultra., you will crumble. Accept reality and way, way before prepare your self. Get the REAL info and help available to you. It starts with the recruiter and watch Matt's videos, they help tremendously. Stay away from tell lie vision for a while. Nixon said " If you want people to believe, put it on Television. "

    Hey Matt, I just enlisted with the Army Reserves this past Thursday as a 38B. My ship date isn’t till July 16th, which is really shitty lol. Is there any possibility to sip out sooner?

    • @Mark0XO
      @Mark0XO 6 лет назад +1

      Isaac Pino it’s possible you have to ask your recruiter, but slots is also a factor on ship dates for both BCT and AIT. If there are no earlier slots then you most likely wont be shipping earlier. Definitely inquire though. Good luck. Hooah!

    • @MattWard89
      @MattWard89  6 лет назад +1

      You could always ask but if you asked me I would say no. BCT has to Line up with AIT so there may not be any available earlier plus you already signed the contract for when you leave

      Fat Sucker standing out im basic has nothing to do with being in SF. If you'd like to be SF then you'd either have to wait until you are 21 or you'd have to join the army rangers (or some high speed infantry unit) then you could be picked up by SF.
