I listen to this song when I brush my teeth and let me tell you, it transformed a formerly tedious endeavour into a fun and joyful activity. The timer in the video helps me keep my brushing above the minimum 2 minutes (recommended by most dental specialists), while the lively music sets the optimum tempo for my brushwork. Tee Time? More like Tee-th Brushing Time. Thanks, Vulfpeck!
"next generation's version of Vulfpeck" is a strangely comforting thought. Though ideally these guys should ascend to Godhood and create music forever but, yknow.
I often think of Woody as the kind of musician who specializes in making other musicians sound good - to someone who isn't a musician that might sound like a neg, but that is a sacred art in itself, often overlooked by the audience and quietly adored by the rest of the band. Just the right chord voicing, just the right variation in the rhythm, not to mention the composing he does. I really do love, however, how Tee Time gives Woody the chance to let it rip.
I love how Joey, Joe, and Cory are standing there holding their drinks and watching Woody, jack, and Theo, like proud and supportive dads at their kids' soccer match
I may be wrong but I am 99% sure they use the audio from these video live takes. You really think they're doing synchronized re-records with all the little improvs/idiosyncrasies lined up? Even with the vocals? Seems way farfetched and unnecessary.
First time I've seen Joe Dart not playing bass. I figured it was kind of just part of him at this point, I didn't know he was physically capable of not holding one.
0:52 i love the way joey looks at woody the way a proud mom would look at her kid playing piano at the school talent show, especially with that little head bop and the boogie at 0:59 :')
*Acoustic-electric piano. This is a Yamaha CP-70. An actual, real, baby grandpiano, encased in bronze. Not kidding. With a mic on every single of the 74 keys. It's a joy to play, I own one. Transporting it, however, is a little bit less joyful...
You can tell this was recorded outside because of the way the pianos sound bounces through the trees. edit: just blows me away how locked in theo and jack are to woodys playing.
I was introduced to this song via the MSG concert vid. Because I am this sort of nerd, I just went and compared the timer in this video to the timestamps in the concert video. This recording: 165s MSG vid: 131s So at least that part of the show was, in fact, 20% faster just like Jack promised. 😂
Amazing vibe! "RUGBY music" brought me here :) that was explaining how the CP-70 works, thank you for doing so! the video, the colors the vibe it all fits so well.
in a tune that's built around constant forward/pushing momentum with so many chords on upbeat 16ths, my favorite part of this is unironically the last two bars of the "gospel" section (from about 1:28 into the video or about 1min 20sec left on the displayed countdown) in which he just plays straight quarter notes on downbeats (until the last one which is pushed to the 'a' of 4...of course). a brief reminder that sometimes quarter notes can slap just as hard as heavy syncopation.
knowing that 21 year old pubescent santa claus without whiteout in his beard can play piano like a funk god makes me so happy, time to add another song to my collection of key-playable vulf songs i can play (includes all of their songs because im such a devoted fan)
If I had a nickel for every Vulfpeck bop in which three band members were designated to stand in the back and clap on 2 and 4, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

The whole band is so reserved when it comes to the use of their cops. Makes it kind of shocking when they do decide to whip them out.

WHO THE FUCK NEEDS A NOISE ISOLATED RECORDING STUDIO WHEN YOU CAN RECORD OUTSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!!
I assume they record in a studio and then synchronize with the clip.... Oh wait... You were jokin' oooooh :o

Then someone overdubbed the bass, which is still fair game IMO.
where do you hear a bass in this record? I only hear the yamaha
Sounds like it kicked in around 22-23 mark.
woody is a legendary pianist, i wish there were more vulfpeck songs like this and like it gets funkier where woody gets a real spotlight moment
