    LEDs were supposed to last for decades, and here they are on only for brief periods in a cold environment. LOL.

    Non-Pro Tip: If one of the LED's are bad, all the others on the same circuit may still light up, but be very dim. Try replacing each dim LED with a new working LED to determine which is bad. They will all get very bright again when you find the culprit. Good Luck!

    Enjoyed your video. I tried your suggestion by testing each LED separately with no success. I have a Sears Kenmore model 253-44743110. All of the lights are out. I tested each by removing one at a time and plugging into my matching but separate freezer. Each LED works fine in the freezer with bright illumination, but will not light when plugged into my refrigerator. There is a pin head size illumination in each LED when plugged into the refrigerator. What else could be the problem, any idea? I'm hoping not the control board. Thank you for any help.

    Thank you for this video! Question - I have essentially an identical fridge to the one shown. We woke up the other day and NONE of these LEDs are working, meaning none on the top and none on the side. So BOTH circuits are out. There is one LED in the crisper drawer that DOES work (it's a different style), and I can get it turn on and off by manually pushing the door switches...so I know it's not the door switches. Do you have any idea what might cause BOTH LED circuits to fail at the same time? I hope it's not something ridiculous like the entire control board because it's big bucks. Any advice is appreciated and thanks again.

      On the model shown in this video the power for the LED lights comes from the main control board. To verify what is wrong you would need to do a voltage test to see if power is being sent to the lights.

    Are the top two LEDS the same part number as the 4 side LEDs? If all 5 of the top LEDs are out but the side panel LED work fine. Could one LED with an issue be caused all of the top LEDs to be out? Should I replace the 3 LED harness first? Thanks

    We detached one LED side light but the connecting wires were not accessible to pull out. ?? The connection is tucked inside about 1/2 inch - Model WRX986SIHZ Whirlpool.. This time it's the side lights that don't work. We already replaced the other series at a different time.

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Год назад +2

      In some cases the lights are hard-wired and do not have an electrical disconnect. That might be what you are running into. The only way to remove those lights would be to cut the wires and then when installing the new light you have to splice the wiring.

  • @timcapell

    The ceiling has no connectors on 3 of them. Do you just cut the wires to replace?

    What would the troubleshooting process be if every light in the fridge and freezer are not working? Sometimes the lights flicker and stayed dim and now they are completely off.
    I have the exact same fridge

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Год назад

      You might have more than one bad light now? The lights are cheap enough for this refrigerator that we would just buy a couple and install them in different spots to see if you can figure out which one(s) are bad.

    The locking tab is stuck under behind the plastic cover and can't be pulled out. Feels like they tapped or glued it in place.

      Sometimes the foam in the liner acts like glue and holds it from coming out.

    I have a similar Whirlpool fridge but not quite sure what the issue is. When opening the door, the lights on the side work fine, however the top lights all light up for a split second and go almost immediately go completely very dim (can see the led chip itself lit a bit).
    It appears that all the LED on the top are fine as I tested the door switches to see that they all do light up for the split second before going dim. It is possible that the door switch itself is faulty? If so, how to get them replaced?

    • @PartsDr

      @@PartsDr I just got my fridge fixed by replacing the bottom freezer LED (W10695459), which was affecting the top since it appears to be related because it started working again.
      Maybe it can be noted in this video as an additional to troubleshoot because one may not check the freezer right away if just noticing the top may not be lit if not dimmed.

    I hate, and I mean hate the bright white LED lights with passion! They induce instant migraines, and seizure like symptoms. And not mention they look like fluorescent lights that make everything look cold and cheap. I need a new refrigerator and all new ones have the damn ugly cold very bright white LED lights. Anyway they can be replaced with warm soft lights?

    • @PartsDr

      Whirlpool does not offer different color temperatures for the LED lights. Any replacement light should be the same color as the original unless noted differently on our site.
