Fantastic and a bit scary. Why? Well my story is very very similar. My brother went to the states in 75 and brought me back a skateboard. Probably one of the first in the country. I loved that thing and was on it every single day. Got really good. Then in the early eighties I watched a video called crystal voyager about a guy called Brian Greenough who was a surfer out of Cali and a film maker I was transfixed with surfing and in 83 I had my first surfing holiday in Cornwall well just blew my mind I loved it. This love affair went on for years and in 1990 my wife and I went to Cali to visit the coast line and the coves where Brian surfed. There was a different kind of freedom in America well that’s what it felt like to me and when I saw the Harleys on Highway one I was again blown away. I wanted a piece of that a piece of that American dream that freedom. Eventually I got my bike and I haven’t looked back since. Sure it’s not America but when I’m sitting on her riding around Suffolk In my head I can just be about anywhere I fuckin like and that feeling is priceless. Thank you for another great video.
Wow that’s amazing, great read . My best pal from school , who is in photo when I talk about getting our 50cc Stan , guy on top left photo of 4 of us , Lives in Cromer …we went to school together… he moved to Cornwall at 17 then 19 to California for the surf Travelled the world for bout 15 years surfing he now in Cromer not far from you Surfing there . That’s funny you skated then surf then motorcycle… California was amazing in 80s 90s , for skating golden era … Few of my pals never came back All living there still .
@@LeanIntoTheWind California was an incredible place back then but to busy now. My preference now would be Colorado bit crap for surfing but for biking just brilliant. Miss my Skateboarding days but still have my original deck hanging up next to the bike in the shed to give me that reminder. It always makes me smile. I think one of the first skateboarding parks I visited in the UK was at a place called Hollywell bay in Cornwall and I believe was the first park to open in the UK unbelievably Brian Greenough filmed part of A James Bond film at Hollywell Bay years later. Funny how life can be so stitched together
@@zozoa1 I have my first deck in a cupboard, 1985 Gator . I had shit decks in the 70s in that early wave , but only cheap crap . 85 when I started properly , But I switched to Jason Jesse models and stuck with them , not skated in 10 years , except to roll down to my garage a few streets away . Know Hollywell bay , went there a couple times , pretty sure Rom skatepark was a lot older , that survived since 70s , we had our own very ramp , but rom was our local , but skated Brighton very ramp and south sea park Chingford vert , meanwhile, south bank … some of the parks nowadays look amazing so much better quality. I get tempted , but now more than ever .. feel I left it so long I’ll be sketchy as hell, sketchy ramp skaters eat shit !

You, Sir, you are a poet. Such a great series of videos. I wanted to say, hats off to you, but "lids off" would be more suitable I thin. A heartfelt thank you for these from a chap who, in his 40th year realized, what he is missing and is finally about to get his licence and get on two wheels.
@@thehobbitable Hey man that’s kind of you to say . Great news about the license.. You get out there and enjoy it …
And with fear of sounding very old ,
Take it easy out there … ride safe and your own pace .. but enjoy it ,
Can still remember my first ride after my test , I bought a Harley 1200 sportster and had it in my garden ,
The minute I bought it
I booked the test ,
Locally they said I had to wait 3 weeks for a 3 day crash course ,
But I found one in London to start the very next day
So 3 days after I bought it
I caught the train home and
Took her out legally haha
I couldn’t believe it was legal
3 days and out on a 1200
But I rode to Norfolk … 3 hours
Just country roads .. pure bliss
Bifo like in BEANO ? Lol
Nasher, love the story similar to mine and many others.
Except I wanted to be an Indian
Thieving at 6
Riding chopped push bikes and ROCKnRoll

I dunno , maybe … I’ve never seen you and me in the same room .. so it could just be
@@LeanIntoTheWind Keep doing what it is that your doing, because it is certainly resonating with folks. In the wind brother!
My best pal from school , who is in photo when I talk about getting our 50cc
Stan , guy on top left photo of 4 of us ,
Lives in Cromer …we went to school together… he moved to Cornwall at 17 then 19 to California for the surf
Travelled the world for bout 15 years surfing he now in Cromer not far from you
Surfing there .
That’s funny you skated then surf then motorcycle… California was amazing in 80s 90s , for skating golden era …
Few of my pals never came back
All living there still .
85 when I started properly ,
But I switched to Jason Jesse models and stuck with them , not skated in 10 years , except to roll down to my garage a few streets away .
@@LeanIntoTheWind yeah I’m just too old now. I’ll stick to a longboard and that’s my limit. Funny in 77 I decided to stick 5 Peter lynn kites together and had them pull me across the play ground at school one weekend. If only I knew that in 20 years time this was going to take off and Kite boarding and kite surfing was introduced into our lives. I missed out there. Have a butchers at this when you got a minute.
