According to Maynard, the other 3 band members pretty much come up with the instrumental part of the song and then they send it to him. He listens to it over and over while he's at home and/or driving around and eventually comes up with a theme and writes the lyrics. Then they get together to fine tune everything.
One of my favourite things Maynard mentions is that mastering is a war every time. Love when you can have actual battles with friends and still come out of it friends.
I like how it seems like everyone is playing almost a different song, but it all comes together and intersects. Its like humanity, we are all living different lives, but we are all one song and intersect. Pneuma, one breath, one spirit.
I’m going to see TOOL tonight in Atlanta Georgia! I drove from Tampa Florida for a 3 day getaway. Only took 7 hrs to get here but it’s well worth the travel if you ever get an opportunity to see them live. Remember these dudes are in their 60’s so they don’t have much time left to do this. Seize the day when you get the opportunity
Seize the day. That's exactly why I went to see them last Friday in Hollywood, FL. I only wish my husband could've been there with me. He would've loved it. He died recently. Another reason to just go and do the thing, whatever it is (if you can)...
Pneuma might be in my top 3 Tool songs, it's just perfection! And having so many great songs already (and this coming from the latest album) makes this even more remarkable.
Oh how I wish I could hear this masterpiece of an album again for the 1st time ❤ I still get chills and have teared up every time I have seen Pneuma live. Go see them this tour!
Great reaction, guys. Thanks for reacting to this masterpiece. It's one of my all time favourite songs. 12:22 the synth noise is actually Justin Chancellor's bass btw. :)
Sadly, that is incorrect. The synth sound is Adam using some kind of synth board. That is how they played it live when I saw them in Chicago, and if you watch a live version, you will see Adam turn to play the board while a spotlight is on him. Justin is standing back in the dark and playing the main bass riff over and over. It's a cool solo but not played on bass.
@@scottk8638 You're absolutely right, mate. Sorry for spreading wrong info unintentionally. It was actually in Invincible where Justin plays a part in the second half of the song where his bass sounds like a mix between a guitar and synth. I mixed that up.
Another great Tool reaction and i can't wait for you to see the drum cam video. You'll be amazed, and what will blow your mind even more is that Danny was 60 when it was filmed 🤯
This song live the other night was so badass! If you’ve never seen tool live you need to do it. No one puts on a live show like the metal masters tool! 🤘🤘
Gonna see them for the sixth time Saturday! There studio albums can be life changing for some people. Tool live is a life changing experience for most, if not all people.
I was at the Baltimore show as well....my 15th show, drove down from Jersey after seeing them in Philly in Nov. They were outstanding in Baltimore...Philly as well, but Baltimore was the first night back on stage after a Holiday break, they had some really good energy.
Hey guys, I love this style of reaction. You 2 got a good dynamic going on, really like the videos. I wanted to give you guys a new artist as suggestion which is "Koan Sound" It's difficult to describe their sound because they are quite versatile. They recently made a new album. I would recommend their song "Anchorite". To describe this track would be "Story telling music. A combination of string and piano collabt with a digitale flare."
Figuring out what sound is coming from where... Is that bass? Guitar? Percussion..? It should be a Tool drinking game. 🤨 This is also metal without the shredding. Next song reco, The Patient. New band that has me amped now - Fleshwater. They have a My Bloody Valentine/Deftones/Hum sound about them. "We’re Not Here to Be Loved " is a great opener.
It’s the program used to record the audio and image from the laptop screen. I think I need to boost some processing quality somewhere in the settings or something, I’ll try to do that for the next batch. We hear it as perfect quality when we listen though
......pausing during that build up...damn dude lol. of all the places you could have picked your pauses...you literally picked one of the worst times lol.
We filmed the drum cam video directly after filming this, I just need to edit it! Should be out soon!
That drum video is insane. Danny just out there producing a masterpiece.
please .. no need much edit :P just put it up

This is the correct answer! 👍
One of my favourite things Maynard mentions is that mastering is a war every time. Love when you can have actual battles with friends and still come out of it friends.
Yeah this is what Maynard said the process is. The first part Maynard figures out is the syllables. Then he builds upon that. Real neat process
Justin's bass tone in this song is criminally overshadowed by Danny's magic here!! His tone is absolutely sublime...👍👍

Tool are Masters of space, timing and most of all TONE !

@robmartin9782 no worries! Justin's solo in Invincible is incredible. Invincible has slowly become my favorite Tool song. It's so good!
Just found your channel and see to that you are starting the TOOL journey, I subscribed and I will take the trip with you!
Love to watch first timers on Tool. Reminds me of my first listen. What a special song.
Another great Tool reaction and i can't wait for you to see the drum cam video. You'll be amazed, and what will blow your mind even more is that Danny was 60 when it was filmed 🤯
I like how you both described ol Octopus Danny in the back, just party-ing up! Lol. I love it!
Tool music is always multi-layered. Loud, complex, visceral, primal, intellectuallly engaging, profoundly spiritual. Quite the package.
melody,rythm,sound,build up,vocal,lyrics,production, everything is amazing!
This song live the other night was so badass! If you’ve never seen tool live you need to do it. No one puts on a live show like the metal masters tool! 🤘🤘
One of my favorite songs by them. New to the channel i like your guy's vibe.
oh, and, I just saw them live in Baltimore, a week ago, and they sound remarkable live. if you get a chance I recommend 100%
Just seen them in New York they sounded great cheers from Jersey
Gonna see them for the sixth time Saturday! There studio albums can be life changing for some people. Tool live is a life changing experience for most, if not all people.

Nice seeing you trying to get you friend into Tool! 🌀🌀🌀👍👍👍
I suggest to react to some Be’lakor, Countless skies is the best starting point. 🌀🌀🌀🙏🙏🙏
Spiral out, keep going 🌀 🌀 🌀...
🤘🏻🌀
I bet she would probably really like ‘Disposition’
Yes it’s breath and or spirit, correct
Now you have to react to the drum cam Video from Danny carey. Then you can see where the sounds are made :)
8:28 did you hear that long "spirit" In the background?
Heilung - Anoana [Official Video]
Tis my request if you haven't heard it before :) It's not in English but I believe you'll enjoy it.

Should have done the drum cam as well
Please check out Karnivool - Alpha Omega (Ghost City Sessions)! :)
I am getting drunk but it sounds fast to me??
Oh....she talking about the musicbugsichord. 2:30

Pneuma is Latin for spirit or breath.
Sorry Greek Animae is the Latin
Ahhhh pneumonia 💡
JAMBI?
Sleep Token Hypnosis, The Offering, Alkaline, Aqua Regia, Granite, Dark Signs
Good band idk what that has to do wit tool They are not on tools level
13:55 to 14:20, man, i saw that.
Your sound needs to be more TOOL please!
Seems Low sound processor.
Yeah I’m trying to fix the audio capture settings for the next batch, sorry about that!
Other bands to recommend. RUSH!!!!
Checkout Alice in Chains most funky song ever.. "I know Somethin' (bout you)"
why is the audio so weird, is there some EQ?
It’s the program used to record the audio and image from the laptop screen. I think I need to boost some processing quality somewhere in the settings or something, I’ll try to do that for the next batch. We hear it as perfect quality when we listen though
I’m positive your band mate would appreciate the vocals in Puscifer. Their catalogue is huge, work backwards.
it took 15 years for them to iron this album out lol
I refused to listen.. then my ex gf made me. I’m so grateful
The soundscape is ridiculous
Deftones. Chevelle
R u guys together?
......pausing during that build up...damn dude lol. of all the places you could have picked your pauses...you literally picked one of the worst times lol.
This album is good. Still nowhere near as good as Aenima or Lateralus. The Grudge is a must.
Sum dum ho
