This didn't work for me but everyone else's comments about bad battery contact got me looking inside the battery compartment. I unscrewed the black plastic cover on the battery area inside the kart and noticed a little black plastic part inside this piece that was raising the batteries too high and one of the batteries wasn't contacting the positive connection. I popped out that little piece, reassembled everything and now I have no connectivity issues. Works like a charm.
Thank you for your comment and for sharing how it worked for you! I watched the video and tried that but it still wouldn’t work but after I did what you said it finally connected! 😅 wish we didn’t have to go through all of that for a brand new toy but just happy it works now !
Bro! I tried this without taking the screws out and nothing happened. So I went ahead and took them out, pulled off the top and it instantly connected after off and on again! Thank you so much for sharing this! You literally saved me and my kids night, but me even more than my kids if that makes sense. 😂😂
I want to add there is another issue. The dor that holds the battery. the three metal plates on it to touch the + side of the battery are surrounded by a tight ring of plastic. If the battery does have a long enough pole then they will not make contact. If you slide the door around a bit while pressing down sometimes you can get it to "start" long enough for the controller to see it, but then it stops working. I extended the poles on my batteries with aluminum foil and got it to work. I thin k the solution ultimately is to shave the plastic down on the door.
I bought this for my nephew and was about to return it because the forward and backward wasn't working. Decided to youtube the toy after seeing reviews about this being a common issue. And you just saved me a trip back to the store because I did what you suggested in the video and it fixed the problem. The car works perfectly now and my nephew loves it 😊
My forward and backwards is doing that AFTER doing this guys fix because it wasn't responding at all. Hmm.... wonder if there's something else going on because I have to push the controller hard as it goes on the forward backwards stick. I was also like, dang... this thing used to be 5 times faster than this.
Thank you for making this video, put me on the path to repairing my sons broken car. In my case it was the battery connection, but I also straighten up the antenna 😊👍
Thanks for this man, bought my kid an rc truck for his bday and it was dead out of the box. Went and exchanged it and he picked this out and I was heated when it wasn’t working but thanks to this video he’s playing with it as I type this!
My kid got one for Christmas. Started happening immediately. I just shut off the controller and the car then turned the car on first then the controller and it fixes it for a while. It eventually goes back to blinking then i have to do it all over again.
Intermittent battery disconnect from bad assembly and probably power on timing between remote and car are the problems that I see on my son's unit. That black wire is not an IR sensor, it's an RF receiver antenna. I'm not entirely sure that the reason for the pairing problem in my case is the collapsed antenna. If it was a reception issue, it would have paired when the remote controller was right next to it. Besides, the holes you pointed to are not even directly above the antenna and there's no guarantee that the antenna will remain there during assembly. I think it's a timing issue. You must turn them on at about the same time. You'll also notice that the remote LED stays on even after you turn off the car. This is because it already established a 2 way link with the car even when the car is not communicating. I'm not an RF telecom specialist and I don't have an explanation for the whole stuff, this is only my observation.
I also think that the karts could have power supply issues. One of my battery contacts was dirty and the positive connections inside the battery case seem to have a plastic collar around them which may prevent the battery making a connection to the metal plate.
Make sure you have detached the try-me cable from the racer and controller and switch it to “ON” position. You will need to sync the product every time it is powered on. To sync the product, insert new batteries and then power on both the controller and racer at the same time. The LED light on the controller will flash when attempting to sync with the racer. When the LED light is solid red, the sync process has completed and you may now use your racer.
This is all I needed to do! When I replaced the batteries in the car it didn't take because it wasn't synced I suppose. Just trying turning them both on at the same time as this guy suggests.
Thanks for the help! In my case the batteries also leaked in the battery case. I had to clean the metal springs with vinegar and a towel and the red light stopped blinking. Everything worked perfectly after that.
This is what worked for me. Tried initially with compressed air, but it didn't do the job good enough. A cotton wool bud with vinegar was more helpful in cleaning off the little bit of battery gunk that was there. All working now!
Since you showed me where the sensor was I just resolved the issue by turning on the remote then the kart then just sticking the remote against that corner of the kart and it swapped from blinking to solid.
Worked for me. I drilled a hole in the controller and car. Used B-connectors and 14 single strand wire and extended the antennas out. Son had a cheap dollar store car that I stole the hard straws from for the antennas to look nice too.
Didn't even have to to use this procedure, as I was unscrewing the top of the mario toy, it magically starting to sync. Didn't have to move the sensor wire or anything, my best guess is it was just that the screws were too tight?
Thank you! I left the three screws on the front off so I can lift it up to establish the connection and then lower the front and drive it. I’ve wasted so many batteries on this thinking that was the issue.
( rote blinkende LED)
THANK YOU!! I bought this off marketplace and not only were the battery cartridges corroded, but even after cleaning them it still wouldn’t work! After following what you did it works just fine now 👍 Thank you so much for sharing!

It’s easier if you turn both on so that the remote is blinking. Then loosen one screw of the battery compartment slowly until the blinking stops!

I did all of this and nothing worked so I tried taking the batteries out of the car whilst the remote was on and blinking red, as soon as I took the batteries out of the car the remote stopped blinking, I put the batteries back in the car and turned it on and it started working again. Weird.
When I turn mine on for the first time, the remote light blinks like super fast, nearly two/three times faster than what is shown in the video. does anyone know if that means anything special? thanks.
