- Fixing an RC car turned out to be a lot easier than I had thought, I'm sure that some cars have more challenging issues to deal with but in my case a bit of battery and circuit board corrosion were easy to repair.

Sad! We are all here for the same reason. Found corrosion in my son’s car too. Wasn’t a cheap remote control car either. Thanks so much for this video-there’s hope 😊
The car is pretty expensive. Good luck fixing it
Thank you for saving my daughters 3rd birthday surprise!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching the video.
Thanks. This is on point. The exact problem I have. Same contacts, too.
Glad it helped
Cleaned out the corrosion a few months ago and thought no way it's not working again because of another buildup of corrosion. Sure enough 😂 using duracell optimum
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of this RC car. Doesn't seem well made.
My video got a ton of views though...so there is that I guess.
Finally got mine working. Tried all the different solutions but found I had to open the car, then remove the battery cover. One of the terminals was slightly loose and wasn’t making contact with the battery. I put some folded aluminium on the contact, refitted the batteries and all now working 👍🏻
Good eyes. That could be hard to spot.
Thanks for the video. In my case the promotional batteries were an issue. The "acid" corroded some of the terminals. Also, on two of the batteries the plastic case was sticking out not making contact.
I hope its working for you now.
Thanks man, I was able to clean only the battery cover in warm/hot water and it worked again
Thanks for watching, glad it worked
Thank you!!! Was able to get it working again.
thanks for watching
Remove plastic dividers from the top and bottom parts of the battery compartment, it will make a better connection, and also, under plastic, there is more corrosion
Interesting idea, will look at it
On mine the batteries went IN REALLY TIGHT.
I filed the blue plastic until they slid in and out easy. Fixed it.
It's brand new, these are the first new set going in, no corrosion at all.
That's an odd problem to have with the tight battery slots.
Glad its fixed
Electrical contact cleaner is the perfect solution for the job👍🏻
Its one of my preferred sprays.
Hice lo mismo y nada, no reconoce el multitester tampoco conecta
Eso es desafortunado. No estoy seguro de cómo solucionar ese problema.
just in case this helps someone else;
On the car I had all the terminals were fine, tried the antenna trick with no luck. I surmised it must be the battery contact so I tried screwing both side of the battery compartment tighter (top and bottom, 5 screws (2 on the inside black part)). worked right away.
Thanks for sharing
my remote on my sons car is allowing the wheels to turn on the side just fine but it’s like the forward and sideways sticks aren’t doing nothing. any suggestions ? i opened it up and tried testing it but no luck
I'm not sure. It could be the car or the remote. I would try cleaning everything that I could get at and see if it works.
That probably isn't much help though.
For me, it was a contact issue. There's a plastic piece at the bottom of the battery well at 5:32. Take plyers and rip that out, it will work continuously.
Thanks for the recommendation of something else to look at.
This is exactly what was wrong with mine. A hard piece of plastic wasn’t letting the battery make good contact. Some tweezers fixed it. Thanks!!!!!!
I had same type of contact issue. No corrosion issues on springs/batteries when received. The remote would connect with original batteries installed but barely move the car and would not connect at all with brand new ones. Realized the OEM batteries positive standoff was taller than my Duracell's so looked at the black plastic at bottom of battery well and sure enough there was a bunch of excess injection molded plastic blocking the batteries from contacting. Pulled out the excess with needle nose pliers and he was running in full star mode.
Hi if it will help anyone the 6 longer screws are for the middle where the wheel cogs are for extra strength
where the cogs are to change the driving mode
the 6 smaller ones are for around the outside edges
thanks for the help
thanks for the additional input
Have you ever seen fast blinking red light on remote control? It connects and when you start moving disconnects. Thank you in advance
No I'm sorry I have not had that issue
Mine is brand new and was working for 2 days but it won’t go forward and back now. Took it apart and checked all the connections. Sounds like it wants to move and will spin on occasion but ultimately just makes a quiet whizzing sound when we try to make it go forward and back. What could be the problem?
If all the battery's are confirmed good then I am not sure. I think that the quality of this particular RC car isn't very impressive.
Thanks a lot. Realized it was the stock batteries
I'm glad it has worked out for you.
It was the stock batteries. Had to move them around for a bit but they eventually started to work. Then I tested out the stock batteries on the remote and 2 out of the 6 were dead.
At least the cause of the problem was found
The battery holder springs have completely corroded on ours. Any idea how to fix or replace. My sons gutted
i think that you'd have to rewire the battery pack somehow.
I went a little less invasive and cleaned one corroded terminal with the screwdriver and it worked! But now I have an issue where the left side spins much faster than the right so it goes in circles even while just using the left joystick.
Perhaps something is corroded or damaged on the slow side causing the motor to turn slower.
@@DIYNorth sat overnight and is working fine now. Who knows!
@@itsabearpelt hopefully it is good now
Gracias me sirvio mucho!!!!
Gracias por ver el vídeo.
How do you charge it
You dont they are individual batteries
So i tried to remove the cable from the controller and I accidentally ripped the connector from the controller. Now the left right switch and the 2 anti gravity buttons dont work, do you know any solution?
I would just try to reconnect everything as it originally was
@@DIYNorth Thank you for your reply! The connector was ripped from the circuit board. Should I glue it back there?
Um hello can i put like a litte cheap batterys in the car
I'm not really sure what that means, but probably assuming you put AAs where the AAs should go and AAAs where the AAAs should go.
I just got a brand new one, but my problem is that it doesn't turn right 😢
I'm sorry to hear that you go one that isn't an ambiturner.
It might be a bad connection to one of the motors. I think that they are individual for each side. If you just got it though you should try to return that thing.
@@DIYNorth thx fam I'd love to, but it was a gift from a family member and didn't got any receipt or anything, but thx for the help!
Is there anyway to use Mario’s rc on Luigi ‘s car
If they are the same frequency then it should work. If they are different...then no it wont work.
What happens if my remote notices my car but doesn't move?
battery's dead?
I agree that it could be weak or dead batterys, but there is also both a "demo mode" and an "on mode" I'm not sure it actually works properly in demo mode.
@@DIYNorth no it doesn’t in demo it only moves the wheels sideways
Here same things !!! I’m 😡
Omg thank you...i didnt realize it was tarnish inside until this video...i wiped it off with a q tip and now it works omg....my 5 yr old thinks im just a mommy heroe and well he aint lying lol thank you so much
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you are up and running.
My Luigi Kart runs a bit sluggish. Might be the batteries🪫🔋or battery contacts.
I didnt know there was a Luigi cart, but yes it could be a battery or battery connection issue for sure

@@NewYorkCitySubwayR160BSiemens Luigi looks better.
@@DIYNorth Ikr!
so from the comments it looks like the batteries it comes with always leak
yuck
It seems like they went cheap in certain areas for sure.
This toy is a piece of crap. Iv3 gotten 3 of them now and not a single one has worked.
Yes, they are of low quality
