I got this bag as a gift. I travel weekly for work...whether it is via plane or tour bus, this bag goes wherever I go. By far the best bag I have ever used. It still looks BRAND NEW despite having traveled literally all over the globe. I don't even know how it's even possible. If you travel a lot and you want something that will hold up while giving you ample amount of storage, this bag is a no brainer. Whenever this bag craps out, I will 100% buy another one.
Tumi charges a huge premium for its luxury brand status (which you mentioned) and for its reputation for quality/durability. The premium is too big if you ask me, but because they are targeting professionals and especially ones who travel frequently (who tend to make big bucks) it makes sense that they are able to charge a LOT LOT more than other brands. I've used Tumi's Alpha briefcases and when they were first released a LONG LONG time ago, the Alpha line with its zip pockets were truly innovative and very functional compared to the briefcases and messenger bags of old. That Alpha styling still works quite well for briefcases but my opinion is that it has never carried over well to backpacks. The "u-shaped" pockets, while functional, give the backpack a cumbersome look and feel because each pocket kind of protrudes in its own direction. I definitely prefer a sleeker design like the Aer but there are a lot of Alpha fans out there still and they swear by the design. I still love my Alpha expandable briefcase but I don't use it anymore. Fewer and fewer professionals use briefcases and if they do they are usually over the age of 50. Anyway, excellent and very fair review.
I have too many bags (like many people who watch this channel) and for whatever reason I love my TUMI bags. I have GoRuck, Tom bihn, able carry, bellroy etc etc… yet I still gravitate toward the TUMI when I actually travel. One of the biggest reasons? Access while seated. Sometimes a clamshell is difficult to travel with when you are stuck in an airline seat and cannot unzip an entire bag for access. The nylon is legendary for its durability and they are shockingly comfortable considering how simple they are. Right now my daily driver is the alpha bravo Tyndall which I believe is no longer made, and was replaced by the renegade or Navigator. Either way I wanted to hate these bags since they were a bit too mainstream for my tastes but now I see why they are so popular. Incredibly overpriced though, shop around.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience with Tumi! Those are good callouts and although there’s other bags I prefer I can definitely understand why their bags are popular
Worth the money in my opinion. I’ve never had an issue with any of my Tumi products and I travel full time for work. However, I do wish they still had their lifetime warranty for just in case. I’ve done field work during a typhoon in the South Pacific with one of my Tumi backpacks, stuffed it under many airline seats, trains and jeepneys… still looks brand new.
Tumi is the standard executive office warrior bag. If you have one, you're almost certainly a business traveller. I never liked the capacity or the styling, so I'd rather put my money towards Goruck / Evergoods / Mystery Ranch.
I own a bunch of Tumi gear and I like them'. Their Alpha Bravo packs are much better in my opinion, especially in the limited edition or rare colorways. For instance, I got the Tumi Navigation Lunar New Year Dragon edition. It can add a sternum strap. It's gorgeous in person and I've gotten tons of compliments on it. I also own the Tumi Logistics Japan Canvas Edition as well, which features a Fidlock V Buckle L-Flap main compartment. I own Mission Workshop, GoRuck, Evergoods, Aer, and other reddit/carryology cult brands and I still love my Tumi stuff. Do I recommend Tumi? Yes and no. Alternatively, I recently recommended a Timbuk2 Scheme convertible brief backpack to a friend. I advocate getting Tumi on the second-hand market if you can however be careful of all the fakes on eBay, Mercari, and Poshmark. You can tell when the photos look too nice and stock. For most folk Alpaka, Aer, Timbuk2, Bellroy, Topo Designs, Chrome Industries, and Mystery Ranch will be fine at the 100-200 USD price point. Tumi competitors I think that are slept under are Briggs & Riley as well as Travel Pro.
Good Morning Sir. Great review on the Tumi Briefpack and I agree with your conclusion that $625 is a high price to pay for a backpack. However, it may not work out to be overpriced even at $625. I have one of Tumi's leather soft sided Brief bags/satchels and one of their leather zippered notebooks that I have been carrying regularly ( and still get compliments on the Tumi Brief bag) for more than 30 years and 25 years respectively. I suspect I will eventually be passing them on to my heirs. I cannot remember what I paid for each of the item, but looking back, it seems that whatever amount it was, it was money well spent! I always enjoy and learn from your videos. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and for the support! That’s great to hear you have had great experiences with Tumi items, the people that have them seem to agree that the quality is impressive!
Tumi used to be an excellent brand. Their attention to detail, materials, craftsmanship and customer service was bar none. However after they were bought out by Samsonite, the quality and customer service took a visible hit, but not the prices. In my opinion Tumi bags TODAY are not worth the price tag.
Could you review the chrome industries ruckas large backpack. Looks like a great bacpack at around the 100 usd price point, almost all the bags you review are so expensive, except maybe tomtoc
Thank you for the detailed review. I currently have an Alpha Brief Pack (backpack) and I'm considering a second backpack. 1. Would the Search overlap in position with the Alpha Brief Pack? 2. I'm 184cm tall and weigh 84kg. Would the Navigation be too small for me? 3. I plan to use it for daily commuting and weekend outings. Among Search, Navigation, and Alpha 3 Slim Solutions, which model would you recommend? I'd appreciate it if you could also provide the reasons. Thank you once again for the video, and I look forward to your response.
I have this bag and an ollder nathan model which is pretty similar to search. I like the brief better because it had much better structure. The nathan just falls over and looks crappy unless it is full
@@TheBjjninjaI owned the alpha bravo Sheppard, and agree, even though I loved the design and shape, if the backpack is almost empty it just falls, I sold it today, and now I’m thinking between the alpha brief or the search, I need more space so I don’t know wich one to pick.
Great review. I check Tumi from time to time but I can't see getting one. I could go to evergoods and get a CAP 2, a sling, a CPL and still come have some extra money in my pocket.
As long as people will spend that money on a bag, manufacturers will charge it. The mark up on some of them must be outrageous. Especially certain brands. A fool will open his wallet unnecessarily, especially if he's more money than sense.
Your videos are always too dark; blacks bags on black table, improper lighting, can’t see anything. Please change your set, otherwise great content. Thanks
It would be interesting if you do a torture test between this bag and the Wenger Synergy Backpack, Gray (GA-7305-14F00) - ~$100 on Amazon to see if it worth 7x the price?

TUMI backpack is the best, been having a couple of backpacks since 2003 ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching and glad to hear the bag has been working out well for you!:)

Tumi makes excellent luggage - can’t say the same about their backpacks
Picked one up today at the Tumi outlet in Texas. List at $575 and got 30% off and got it for $431.25. Awesome bargain.
Thank you for watching and that’s awesome you were able to get it at that price!

I wasn’t going to buy one but glad I did. I love the leather touch as well
Thank you for watching and I’m glad to hear the bag is working out well so far!:)
I have been using my TUMI backpack for at least 9 years and still using it, and I am a heavy packer.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience with the bag! Glad to hear it’s held up so well!
All my tumi bags after years of use still look great.
Thanks for your excellent review! very useful for me.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful!:)
Thanks for the video. I found it very helpful. Can you do Tumi Alpha Bravo Search and Navigator?
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I’ll have to see if I can get those to test out! :)
Another note, I'm pretty sure tumi doesn't have a lifetime warranty. I believe it caps at 5 years
Thank you for watching and for the additional information!

I have the alpha 3 brief black leather and it does have padding on the bottom. So maybe they addeessed it.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience with the bags! That would be great if they had updated it

You should do a review on the Tumi alpha bravo backpack
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion! :)
How many liters is the backpack?
It's recommended for Mama's Boy or Big Kiddy Man😂🎉
Please review the tumi esport large
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!:)

I wouldn't spend $625 on this bag, but I don't think I could spend more than $400 on a backpack.
Seems like with many expensive things, the only reason those celebs wear this backpack is for the price.
You picked up the wrong bag - you should have gone for the Tumi Search instead.
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!:)
@@dannypacks fantastic video as always!
Agreed. Alpha bravo line has better style and configurations.
Not liking the exterior visual aesthetic. Too many pockets bulging out
Maybe if $525 less...
The price is for the brand. If it weren't just so damn ugly
Answer to the question in the title: No!
tumi backpacks are a joke.
Your videos are always too dark; blacks bags on black table, improper lighting, can’t see anything. Please change your set, otherwise great content. Thanks
Black bags also look different depending on the material too, it's not always just about lighting
Table is brown, but valid point about the shadows making it hard to see.
On my iPad the video is fine, I see all details.
