    From Melbourne, Australia. Wishing all of you in LA remain as safe as possible. and hoping the winds slow down soon. Having gone through some huge and very scary fires over here, please remember if you feel sad and lonely during this time there are people all over the world who are thinking of you. it is horrible but it all does pass eventually.

    David, can you put it out there that the local animal shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with displaced pets. If anyone is able to foster a pet or two that would be so helpful. Here in Utah several of our rescues/shelters are taking in hundreds of California pets to help. These are creatures completely at the mercy of humans.💔

      Thanks for this tip - I have so many friends fostering pets at the moment, too.

    On the topic of wild fires, you should look into wild fires in Canada, specifically British Columbia. Every summer we have absolutely horrific fires, entire towns are burnt down like Lytton and Jasper (Alberta). A lot of towns are remote and relatively disenfranchised and struggle to rebuild after such a disaster. A lot of people become displaced, especially Indigenous peoples who are so connected to their land and community. And it happens EVERY YEAR it’s absolutely crazy.
    Also Canada has the water bomber planes to help fight our wild fires, they were sent to LA to help this week, shoutout to those pilots because that is one of the craziest things

      It's amazing what we hear about and what we don't isn't it? Never imagined Canada having such big fires.

    The fires are a good topic for the show. Just extreme weather in general because my British friends always ask "what its like to be in a tornado or hurricane?" The funny thing being I've experienced both in Texas, but not all Americans have experienced this. They, my friends, think extreme weather or weather related phenomenon is very American.

    Calvin’s fear from trailers - happens at our house too! I hate when they pop up as a commercial when watching a show with my kids. Why are they showing ads for a horror movie when streaming something rated for kids!?

    My kid has seen Smile 2…. He’s 11, and totally not afraid of anything. He has seen every scary movie out there and is so unphased by any of it. He can watch one of the scariest movie and go right to bed and sleep without any problems.
    Blame my husband, he lets the kids watch all scary movies as soon as their 5 😒

    Towards the end, it sounds like you encountered what's called a white van speaker scam. The person trying to sell them buys these things with fake brands and fake product pages that say they're worth $20k, but in reality it's only like $50 for everything.

    Also can we get a quick lesson on how to tell the Kiwi and aussie accent apart? So we can distinguish it too. What are some words that are markedly different??

    • @williamwallace9944
      @williamwallace9944 18 дней назад +1

      A general rule is that Australians tend to pronounce many of their e's a's and i's as "ee" sounds, ("pick" becomes "peek") while Kiwis tend to change their vowels into a more low-key "u" sound. ("pick" becomes "puck")

      As an Aussie, the word "six" will distinguish a kiwi to me straight away.
