Back when I was in nam I ran into a bull shark. We were 20 deep scrolling the jungle deep in nig nang we were in the shi*. Anyway let me get back to the shark. We were wading through river and I felt something down by my leg. I checked and at first i didn’t find anything. Then again I felt something hit my leg I reach down and sure as shit a 6 foot bull shark. I almost shat myself. I shot 30 buckets into that water but I don’t think I got him. Or her. From there we went on to dang sang province. That’s all I got.

Wow, what a story! It’s amazing how a movie like JAWS can have such a lasting impact, especially for someone who spent so much time in the ocean. I can imagine after seeing it 23 times, the fear of what might be lurking below would stick with you. It’s wild how movies can shape our perceptions of the things we love. But with your experience in SCUBA diving and swimming, you’ve had some incredible moments with the ocean too. Maybe one day you'll find that connection with the water again, but totally understandable why JAWS left its mark!

The thing that makes the white shark so terrifying is that it’s still a fish a really big fish that can weigh up to 4-5 thousand pounds and move at speeds up to 40mph bro and you can’t hear them because unlike orcas and wales and dolphins they have no vocal cords so you never see them coming at all until your hit by one and it’s usually game over after that 🥶🥶🥶🥶 they have better eye sight or close to a humans vision so they are very accurate when hunting they’re prey guys new research has proven that they are critical at thinking things through before attacking 🥵

I wonder if the White Shark Nicole was born in Western Australia and returns there every 4-5 years for some reason. I'd love to be young again and be able to study these beautiful creatures on the water, and not from my computer.

I was actually part of the research team that tagged Nicole back in 2003.
This was a joint project between MCM (Marine and Coastal Management) from Cape Town, WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), White Shark Trust (who I was working with) and a few others.
It was an amazing experience, and getting the news maybe a year later that Nicole had travelled to Australia and back to S. Africa was incredible.
That information was a huge deal at the time and lead to Great White Sharks being added to the CITES list for protection.
Previously they didn't have full protection because there was an argument that they stayed in "local" populations, meaning they only required protection by the individual countries where they were found.
Nicole really changed everything from a conservation point of view.

When it's just one seal it will almost always be locked on and attacked. That's what I mean by (They). Anyways unless it has Andy in it I’ll take an actual educational documentary on sharks over dramatic made up shark shows or shark attack shows. All those do is further fuel the fear people have towards them. It doesn’t help teach people to love and respect these animals.
