- We invite you to join us as we relive the longest road trip we’ve ever taken together. In June of 2023 we drove to Maine to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Brandon’s parents, Ron and Jill Keilen. Fifty years of marriage is a beautiful testament to the love my in-laws share. During our adventures in Maine we made memories with family that we’ll treasure for a lifetime! Also included in this episode is a tid bit/fun fact about each of Brandon’s 9 siblings, who all reunited in this fun-filled event! We hope you enjoy getting to see some of the highlights from our time in Maine as well as getting to know the Keilen family a little bit better!

Thank you for introducing us to Brandon's family. What a blessing that you were all able to be together to celebrate your parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I knew there were siblings but I didn't realize how many. I do remember Becky and Angie from the engagement episode on Bringing Up Bates. By the way, I want to tell you how deeply touched I was by your love story and then the engagement. It was so unique and well-planned (great job, Brandon!) and I could feel Michaela's emotions when she realized what was happening. It was so sweet. You're both such kind-hearted, loving people and just seem so perfect for each other. I was a huge fan of the show so it's really nice that you have a RUclips channel as well as some of the other Bates siblings. Many blessings to you both! ❤

Would love Michaela to do a hair tutorial video of how she does her hair. She always has it styled so beautifully and would love to see how she does it. 😊
You are so very kind. My sis Josie is a sweetheart and she cuts and highlights my hair for me. I use Pureology shampoo and conditioner and I style with a 1 inch curling iron, but I don’t really have any special tricks or tips. I’m so sorry.

I was at the Portland Lighthouse in March, there was still 6 ft of snow there and the temperature was-20 and add that wind from the ocean, shew I’ve never been so cold!! 😂

Wow what a coincidence I was visiting Acadia national park, Maine with my in-laws and their family as well. Your family is beautiful and what a blessing to see the friendship that develops when the children becomes adult. I wish you can do a Q/A with your parents to see how they proactively accomplish that. Thanks for sharing!!

Your parents have been married for 50 years!💍Wow! They had a smaller quiver compared to the Bates. I have never been to Maine but would love to. That 🫎 looked rather timid. We lived in Alaska for seven years and had a chance 2c moose outside our yard often. Each sibling's description was special. Each one has been given a special gift 😍 that they have used well. Truly a blessed family🤍

Take a trip to Bermuda. There is so much sea glass. But.... it is illegal to take any. There was one beach that had more sea glass than sand or rocks. Glass bottles are actually taken to the beach and broken just to keep adding to it. This place was stunning. So many different colors. I went on a cruise but you can fly there too. 😊

Maine girl here born and raised. We live about a half hour from Ellsworth - so glad you got to see this little corner of the country :-) Come back in the fall and go to Baxter State Park and I'm sure you'll see a moose!
Greetings from the middle of Nebraska!! Thank you for sharing your amazing trip to Maine!! I am so impressed by your family!! Brandon and Michaela how blessed you both are with wonderful parents and siblings. I would love to hear each of your parents perspective on raising a family as they both were so successful in raising children. In this day and age, a wholesome, Christian family is dwindling and I think each of your parents should write a book on how to grow a family. I hope Michaela can have a similar video where she describes each of her siblings as this was fun to hear about their personalities. Brandon how blessed you are with each of your siblings. I've never been to Maine but it sure looks like a wonderful place to visit. I pray for you both everyday!!! God bless!! Thanks for sharing with us about your family and also your trip to Maine. It brought back great memories of a trip my husband and I took to Maine in 2014! I loved Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain, Jordan’s Pond, Bar Harbour, Thunder Hole and the lighthouse! We.also went to Kennebunkport and stayed at the historic Kennebunkport Inn! One of my favorite trips! I would love to go back someday!
I love New England, Maine, NH and VT are my favs.....I suggest to anyone that has never been there to put it on their bucket list of places to visit in the U.S. BUT only go Sept/Oct, March and April. I heard the bugs are really bad as soon as you have to turn on the AC.

What a sweet trip with lovely memories. My parents in law weee married for almost 60 years when my MIL went home to be with the Lord. Their love was so inspiring and continues to endure. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a great trip! Did you get any wild blueberries. I’ll never forget the blueberry muffins we had in Bar Harbor.
So fun to see Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and surrounding areas through your eyes!! We live in the town next to Ellsworth (Surry) and my husband works in Ellsworth. My husband’s family has a small camp on the coast and we have spent hours there collecting sea glass. It never gets old!

Love all the pictures and places you went. Made me so homesick though because I raised my children first in New Hampshire and then Maine. We love it up there! In fact, my son got engaged in Cape Neddick, which is more known as York Beach. We have so many memories there and it was so sweet for him to make this new memory with his best friend and future wife. When I go up to visit, it's like coming home again as a lot of my friends are still there that we raised our kids together. So glad you were able to experience Maine and Acadia is SO beautiful!

Hello from NJ! I loved this recap of your trip to Maine. My family visited there last summer - it was probably our best vacation ever and I can't wait to go back. We stayed in Boothbay Harbor and then spent 3 days in Bar Harbor - so much fun! Maine was beautiful, peaceful and the people were so very, very nice! If you make it back there stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge - the owners are terrific, the food is delicious and they have their own rocky beach. Plus - you have to visit the land bridge to Bar Island - that is really a great spot. So glad you had the chance to see your family and celebrate Brandon's parents - God Bless them!

Jesus makes the difference in a happy home! 1998 my parents celebrated their 50th Anniversary along with my Dad's (a twin) 3 brothers. Newspaper article titled 200 years of marriage. Feb Dad 97 went to be with Jesus and Mom and so many family. My Uncle and Aunt (the baby) in their 90's still with us. My Uncle's were the BEST my Nana a widow raised them and all loved Jesus.

I was lucky to grow up in Ellsworth. I took for granted the beauty of Acadia and Maine because with my dad being the Y director and my Mom leading girl scout troops and teen groups at church, I grew up hiking all the mountains of Acadia. I'm glad your family was able to enjoy God's amazing handiwork there!

So happy for Brandon's parents and the years they've been blessed to spend together. My parents were married 47 years, one month short of 48 when my daddy was called home. How I wish they would have been able to celebrate their 50th. And I just loved hearing about Brandon's siblings! I didn't realize that there was a set of twins in his family!

That’s the great thing about Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. You can see the serene sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, then drive just 70 miles north and see the magnificent rocky shoreline of Lake Superior!
