  • During the late May Bank Holiday, Network Rail have plain lined the track and removed the pointwork at both ends of the disused Down Goods Loop at Staines. The loop itself remains, but is completely inaccessible #railway #cabride #staines

    Interesting. Why did they remove the points? Do they not need the loop anymore? Will the tracks just be left to rust or are they going to rip them up too?

      I don’t know the answer to any of that. I don’t believe it has been used for a fair old while, and the whole area is about to be resignalled (with the closure of Feltham box), so presumably it is being done in preparation for that.
      The intact route is shown in my “Wandsworth Road to Staines” video. Ultimately, I felt it historically worthwhile reporting to justify filming a brief report, for those interested
