Thanks Rabbi. My grandfather recently passed. We are not fully practicing Jews but I learned more from you. I feel bad I couldn’t sit full shiva because my work allows some days for bereavement leave… I still followed rest of rules. It is almost a month since he passed and we will visit his grave after pesach.
If we walk in the light of the Holy spirit we dont need to worry for the dead. Let the dead burry their own dead and let us proclaime the Kingdom of Heaven. Thank you Rabi for these beautifull insights.

I had an nde last year. I was in a place of total darkness like floating in water, I felt like I had a body but didn't, just consciousness. Time didn't seem to exist. After the initial panic it became relaxing as I said like floating in water in a dark room. Wasn't sure if I was going to be there forever, if that was it, nobody else seemed to be there. Anyway though I'd share that to see if anyone can figure it out.

This is so interesting. Wow! I never looked up anything Jewish before and didn't do it now it just appeared in my feed. I lost my sister last year in 2019. Two very close good family friend 2020 and few years 3 years earlier. And, this have helped me alot with a lotmunansweed questioned I had about this life and death. I think as humans being we all have questioned many things that's complicated and complex about life. We hurt because it's our human responds to do so. But finding those answers not just for our departed love ones but also for our own journey when we do cross over us very helpful and fascinating. Thank you Rabble Friedman. God bless you.
A funeral is a rite of passage, perhaps the most important of all. We who have not been traditional make sure that the funeral, the tribute to the person's whole life, is done to carry on the tradition from generation to generation.

So glad l have an oportunity to comment! Thank you in advance . I have something to posulate, to offer for a consideration. I feel a warmth just listening to you in your video offerings and it promps me to open myself to you! I am only 76 ... not a man with of ancient days, yet l've seen things! G-d has been mankind's one ... almost inconsolable mystery in many societies thoughout time, but l know in and for myself there are more discoverable things lying under the human superstructure of human understanding there for us to know than that which we express. All l will do in this post is lay out my understanding as l see it and let you parce out what you will! I start with the acceptable premise that The eternal One has a mind that functions differently than His creation and it's always a struggle to attain a "meeting of the minds". But ... All meaning if it has validity has it's origin in Him! A seer could be privy to things that might escape a mechanic or a baker, and a dialogue could even be a biproduct of a mindmeld. Getting to my point ... l have the understanding that we are all created in the image of the One true G-d. I can understand that we came from eternity or even beyond, yet not separate from Him. I believe we came from the very core of His being and were breathed as "points of light" ... into the flesh of the earth from which He made us as living tents, to contest the patterns and course of His trajectory. My understanding is that the soul was created with the full course of His intentionality for earth. I believe we have each been given all the information we need; The thought that there can no question exist that doesn't already come with an answer comes home. Light and darkness are the elements facilitating discovery. Vibrations and tunnings are agents of evidential verification. The soul of a man is a wonderously formed marvel! It is comprised of several layers of gossamer transparent layers. They are image receipticals. They are systematically imprinted by the realms of the spirit, (the good, or the bad) in accordance to our choices. These layers govern the degree to which our "lenses" see the reality heaven has for us to view. Heaven is pure. All that exists is at ONE with the G-d of truth and Light! There is tremendous love, unexplainable peace and a truly unimagined ensconcement of the love of the Father towards His creation. This l can promise is true. Much of earth hasn't a clue! As lsaiah points out - there are many flocks that were not formally His by name, to be gathered when time is no more. That is His decision, and not our own. To be loved is a happy thing! To be accepted by the one who made us is over-the-moon in significance when such a great love that the world has not known becomes the single motivator. This reality is the open scriptures for everyone drawing breath. We were made to be in love! He-is-one!
So even in cremation, the ashes retain part of the soul.

My adopted father was Jewish and died in 1999. I said the Kiddish for him and looked up and satisfied Jewish burial laws. He was not perfect, but he did so many hard but important laws. No one fought over his legacy. His born children are wonderful Jews. I just love him. Can I help his soul ?
How do we know what happens to us when passing, when no one really knows. We adjust beforehand and get comfort from our relatives or friends, if we get the option. I imagine it's our failings that our soul feels not the separation, in my opinion. Not to mention in life also.... I think if we were in heaven, it would be too beautiful and good to greave our flesh. Mourners have inherited the deceased personalities and life tuition from them, so I think it's our living soul that find its hard to let go, which is why we Mourn.
If you don't believe the Torah or haven't learned it, fair enough, but it's a bit strange to comment on a video by a Rabbi who believes in the Torah and has studied it expertly and it says in there what happens after we die and say "how do we know what happens, no one really knows" lol

I was pronounced DOA ( DEAD On ARRIVAL ) at a medical center in 1973... No further attempt was made to resuscitate me... More than half an hour passed, and then my Heart started to beat again... During that half hour, I discovered the DIFFERENCE, between the human body, and "LIFE The Real Self"... I can't find any of this in Torah, where is the chapter/verse?
It’s not there, yet traditions are created around them that are usually passed off as sins if not followed.
And what happens to those of us that are not Jews?
Where are the verses in the Torah where I can read the words that God gave this information for us to read and follow.
Genesis chapter 50 tells about the burial and mourning of Jacob, and verse ten mentions "Joseph mourned for his father seven days". If I find more I'll repost.
It takes 7 days to get over the shock, is that 7 days from burial or actual death, and what about those that want to return home but don’t commit suicide and leave unexpectedly?

Without the word "soul," there couldn't be any religion. All stories are based on what the soul is thinking, and what the soul is doing, and where the soul came from, and where the soul is going after death of the physical body. Fortunes have been made by theologians who taught that the soul is a gift from God, and that women must never have abortions, because abortions offend God's gift to humanity. Evolution of the soul is a huge seller in religion. It means that your soul is ever upgrading and will hopefully soon make the grade of God's "entire" approval of enlightenment and salvation … or … that in the afterlife something horrible could happen to your soul. If you remove the word "soul" from religion, you will not have anything but ground zero.

Why does there need to be a purpose? According to Old Testament (Tanakh), la satan is discussed approximately 5 times and translated as impediment or barrier.
Further, any reference to Satan is related to an angel or messenger of G-d, hardly of equal stature to our all powerful heavenly G-d. The emphasis is primarily and exclusively in the New Testament as a battle for the soul between good and evil.

Oh wow! Sounds like hell is inevitable and a beautiful place! You would love to go there! Get real manis you didn't have to get into this topic but if you already did you should at least say the truth, which is that it's not a very pleasant place at all! Of course, there are good intentions at the end of the day but that doesn't make it an easy experience. Otherwise, Hashem wouldn't be the fair G-d He's meant to be. My sources are just about every single book in Judaism, while your sources are literally none.
This guy is a Rabbi and yet he is teaching pagan beliefs rather than the scripture. Is he really a Rabbi? There are plenty of evidences in the scripture that show soul is destructable and it is not something that can live out of body and live forever. See the proof from the scripture below:
