The shifter on the steering column takes some getting used to. If you have driven other Honda cars, that is exactly where the control for the windshield wipers is. Same on many other cars. So, after decades of driving cars with the wiper stalk in that spot, I hopped into a Mercedes with the gearshift there. It was all peachy until an oncoming car threw water onto my windshield, and I instinctively went for the single swipe of the wipers. Except I put the car into neutral. At 40 mph. It's not going to be fun if your other cars have the wiper stalk there. Did that more than once. I hope they found room for the spare tire that is not available in their hybrids. If this is based on the Lyric, it is a seriously long car. I saw a Lyric, and that was the first thing that jumped out - how massively long it is. For that massive length, the 25 Cu ft behind the rear seats is unimpressive, as is the under 60 Cu Ft with the seats folded. The CX-50 has over 30 Cu feet with seats up, and about same as Prologue with them folded, and it is a much smaller car. (And at this price level, could you have stolen an idea from Mazda and put some seat back releases along the side of the cargo area, within easy reach of the person standing at the hatch opening?). Not having driven one, but hearing your review comments, it seems like Honda went all-in on making this feel more like an ICE driven Honda. Not sure if that is a great idea for everything. If I'm going to pop for a Level 2 charger at home, and adapt to using charging stations and range anxiety, I'd like my car to offer me some perks. Like it should be quieter on the highway. If you can't hear engine noise, is the ubiquitous Honda road noise going to be MORE noticeable? Kudos for keeping the knobs for HVAC and volume, and normal door handles though. I'm not a Honda hater (I had at least one Honda in my garage for 30 straight years, and part of that time it was 2), but I hope when they get more of their own design/platform that they do better. The body style overall is nice.
For those complaining it ain't fast as Mach-E are stupid. Honda reliable & it's family car. Don't compare. It's fair on price. I know it's little loud and seems pricey. But next couple years will have competitive price and choices
Acura brought back the ZDX as an EV which costs about $15K (Canadian) more than the Honda Prologue. Acura also has a brand-new EV called ADX which is coming out next year - no pricing available yet. So, Acura EV always costs more than Honda.
Personally I prefer the one seamless integrated console/infotainment system design used by Chevy in the Blazer/Equinox. The use of 2 separate displays by Honda looks like they slapped two tablets on the dashboard.
What color is that car in the opening scene. It looks light blue....I don't see that color in any of the trims...I see a much darker blue but not a silver light blue.
I love everything about this, except for that dashboard. What were they thinking with those displays? They have such odd shapes, look unusually thick with huge and uneven bezels and with clashing placement. They look very dated, like mid 2000's tech. Panel or tablet like displays or one large modern looking wide display with thin bezels would've topped off the interior nicely.
Coming off of a '23 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (buyback in progress; multiple charging/electrical failures, dead in driveway often) I'm looking at THIS car versus an anticipated Mini Countryman Electric (not anticipated to be able to be bought until October?). Any point of view, opinion off the cuff about that two-brand-model showdown? What would you lean towards?
I personally like the dual screens much better than the single curved one. Hyundai, Kia, and their dressed up Genesis wanna be like BMW so bad, but if you look closely, you'll see that its very cheaply made.
I agree It's an EV, but It's a Honda. I would say It's 15k-20k more in the current time. may be we have to wait for 3-5 years for an average american family even consider it. Honda should give consumers an affordable EV car !
My wife has been waiting for this car and we sent this morning to go see it in person as we had one reserved and it came in, unfortunately the head room in the back in a no go for us. I am only 5'10 and my head hits the roof, I could not sit straight in the back as I had to hunch forward to fit. Very disappointed in this and this took the car off our list for our EV search.
That's why you look at video reviews before reserving / putting money down on something. And I would have gone to the showroom where one was available before even considering the above mentioned points.
@@tylerstevens4697 she stated 260 in her chart which is 19 less than the worst rated model. Per your #’s. While I was over by 10, in my experience in my model 3 is 330 is not impossible given ideal conditions for the y. Regardless of the actual number she misstated the range, I suppose to make the Prologue look more attractive. How much range does one lose with the system that makes car sounds😮.
Thanks. But I don't want it. I want Honda, built by Honda. Not by American car companies (GM especially) because American car products don't last as long has Honda vehicles
It looks nice, but for a Honda it's too expensive. It should be priced at the CR-V Hybrid level. Why? I buy Honda vehicles - I have two Hondas - because they are reliable, praticle, well finish and well equipped vehicles, prices at a reseable level. This is not a luury Brand. And this is what I like. So , I would buy an EV trusting the reliability and practical the Honda name gives me. But, it all vanishs when we see the price point it is at. What a pitty>
Have you been in a new Honda? This is very much new Honda, and I know the EV platform is from GM, but I don’t think there’s much shared past that. This looks nothing like the Blazer EV on the inside.
No matter what the price of gasoline is, you can buy a LOT for the extra $15k++ for an electric vehicle. Will the government mandate that you junk your gas car? You decide with your vote. I vote to drill....and don't buy into "global warming" due to fossil fuel....it's a natural cycle.
I agree. Let's not forget about a likely insurance premium increase of at minimum 30% annually. I just can't seem to wrap my head around paying more for less.
Classic old white man answer who doesn’t care for environment and next gen. Your time is over and we make you transition to EVs by raising price of gas every year
"natural cycle"?? You call extracting literally billions of tons of carbon (as coal, crude oil and natural gas)out of the earth, and which hasn't seen the light of day since the age of the dinosaurs and pumping it into the atmosphere and biosphere part of the "natural cycle"???
One pedal driving is one of the best aspects of driving an EV.
Great review! Look the look, tech and content of the Honda Prologue. I can hardly wait to see it in person.
Excellent review - well done!
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video but I'm waiting for the vinfast VF8
Do you get a camera view directly from the rearview mirror. That back window looks VERY small so I can't imagine that visibility is that good.
Everything is good except the price and range
Excellent review, super informative all around.

Finally a very smooth and informative review. You have a new subscriber
Awesome, thank you!
When are we going to get to test drive this? I can't find one anywhere yet. Is there an ETA?
A very nice informative review. Much better than the "Zonk" reviewer.
I can't get through 3 mins of his reviews.

It's a GM car built in Mexico
at this price point wouldn’t u go for the electric acura (idk what it’s called)..

In terms of range the Chevy Equinox is offering 319 mi for their FWD entry trim.

It’s gray Pearl
I caught that, the joy of driving.
Me? I use TomTom Go.
Is this based on the Chevy Blazer or Equinox?
Blazer
Funny they didn’t add the Blazer EV to the range comparison, as the Blazer EV has more range.
-but for more money
I'd choose the home charger.
Not a mention that this is a GM EV underneath? It’s built by GM and is basically a Blazer EV.
Yea and no. They share the same platform for batteries and motors, but Honda designed the “top hat” and suspension.
She did mention that it is built on the same platform as the Cadillac Lyriq.
Lol, they tuned the suspension, that's all
Blazer platform

To,each their own. I think the implementation here looks too much like they just tacked on a couple tablets. It’s not cohesive or integrated at all.

Thank GM for the pocket style wireless charging. I'm jussayin....

wow, nice car
The ranges you gave in your chart are not accurate. The range on the model y is 330. Credibility is important in a review channel.
There are 3 trims of the model y. None of the 2024 model y get 330
Miles range.
320-308-279 depending on trim.

$60K price tag....Ooof!
Presenter assumes interested customers fear the EV world. Regen braking is not hard to adapt to.
Can you disable those fake engine noises?

This is one vehicle to stay away from
Why didn't just Honda offer a passport hybrid or EV convert this. What exactly does Honda gain from working with GM? It boggles the mind. Stay away😊
Nice effort, but no thanks!
No Thank you mean Baby Gurl 😏
Is it a honda first?
It is a honda last.
All car already have that features.
Hey Honda, Do not copy illegally.
She doesn’t know what she’s doing. Interior isn’t Honda at all. It’s lifted out of crappy GM cars.

we already do: The United States is producing more oil than any country in history.
