Thank you for educating in regular layman's language. Thank you for the great visuals.
Thank you! I’ve read a great deal, but this is the clearest explanation I’ve seen of the distinction between adenomas and hyperplasia. As in the case you describe, my parathyroid disease was first recognized by an internist. At follow-up after removal of a double adenoma, I asked the endocrinologist (at a major university hospital) why the pathology report said nothing about finding or not finding a rim of normal tissue, and was told that the distinction between adenomas and hyperplasia is an old notion that has been abandoned. That didn’t sound right to me… Your explanation why recovery can take time is also helpful; too many sources set up unrealistic expectations.
Thank you!
Thank you! Very informative.
My doctor keeps telling me my low vitamin D makes calcium high but she must’ve run her own studies because nobody else seems to think so! Time for a new doctor I think 😢
Had a full thyroidectomy, my thyroid was 375 grams with 12 non cancerous tumors 9 in one side 3 in the other. When under the knife the side with 3 nodules actually grew down into my chest cavity and they almost could not get it out. Long story short, they damaged my parathyroid in the process of wresting this thing out. My voice is struggling and I can no longer sing.
12/15 Cal 8.5 PTH 10
12 17 7.9 11
12/24 8.6 14
1/22 9.3 11
They took me down from 200 to 175 thyroid hormone. Am I expecting to much to soon? How long will it take to see progress?
Thanks in advance,
God Bless
Your PTH numbers are not zero so it means your parathyroid are in shock and will probably improve in time. In terms of the vocal cords, your doc should look at your voice box to see if the voice change is due to swelling or nerve malfunction.
I have all those symptoms. Have for a few years now. I need help. Doctors here just don’t get it
I'm in WA. I have calcium oxalate in my urine for months (since June), so much fatigue, pain. My TSH went from 3 to 0.01 so maybe hyper but had an ultrasound and the radiologist notes said "unable to rule out parathyroid adenoma" and 2 hypoechoic, round nodes that are very small on the right side. I have pain on the right side. Losing work hours. Feel desperate. Have to wait for an endocrinologist appointment that is months away.
I know this is what’s wrong with me. If it’s not then I have no idea. But I just keep being given pills. Take these NO! Zero help in my area here in CT. 😤
I agree. Talk to Dr to get off med slowly. Can mess with heart!
How common is it to get another adenoma?
My calcium is now 2.5,pth 3.3
And how long does it take for anxiety/ depression to ease ?
Thankyou
Can someone please respond
