Dr. Larian - I wish I had know about you 2 years ago!! I just had my 2nd parathyroid surgery yesterday. Looks like it worked this time, but no patient should have to navigate our failing healthcare system to get help. The Mayo Clinic finally found my hidden parathyroid gland in my chest last year, after a local surgeon failed in 2022. My insurance wouldn't pay for the surgery at the Mayo Clinic, but the tests and images they did helped my local team fix the source of the problem. Supposedly I'm "cured" and I can't wait to see how I feel in the upcoming year. I'm hoping to regain some bone loss as well.

Hello ...May I ask why my doctor and endocrinologist say No to taking calcium after surgery. I have had normal levels after Surgery, calcium 9.8 and pth 51 , I'm asking due to the fact that I have osteoporosis from this disease. They told me you're better to get your calcium from your food and if you feel you're not getting enough a day then maybe take only 500 mg of calcium. I'm curious to hear your feedback on it successfully done paradectomy on a person that has osteoporosis in my age is 56 . Many thanks .... As always I absolutely loved hearing your videos you have helped me so much through all this. ✨🙏 It's been 3 months post.

The Hyperparathyroidism Support and Information group on Facebook maintains a list of surgeons who are known to be especially good for those with parathyroid concerns. (Lots of other very good information and support also.) Keep in mind that many endocrinologists seem not to be the best at diagnosing hyperparathyroidism and recommending treatment (surgery). You may ultimately find that you want to see an endocrine SURGEON with particular expertise in parathyroid issues even for diagnosis. Best wishes!
