The Mario Götze Paradox
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 ноя 2023
- At 22, Mario Götze scored the biggest goal a footballer could ever possibly score, It was one of those moments where people would say “he could do nothing for the rest of his career and he will still be a legend”, and well, that’s kind of how it’s played out...

There is nothing greater in football than scoring the winning goal in the world cup final... pretty sure everyone agrees on that.
yap
incoming ronaldo fangirls to say world cup is just a 7 game rigged tournament
bless your heart @@flow4629
@@flow4629you know America isn't the only country in the world 😂
Not exactly true... majority of people like to celebrate illegal goals like junkie maradona or xauvinist henry...
I mean the guy does have 5 league titles, 4 DFB Pokal, scored the winning goal in World Cup final and Played under Klopp and Pep. Bro clocked German football
I knew gotze was always lucky that world cup final jus the right place at the right time but I would differently prefer to score the winning goal inna world cup final that’s why he will always be legend in Germany
I mean that’s usually how a lot of things happen right? That one lucky second of the defence turning off and you happen to convert, but instead of it being a regular game, it the World Cup final or any other final. In those moments when you try to recall how you got into that position it’s really hard to remember, your body usually when into autopilot and you did what you always do.
"Differently prefer" 🤔
@@BlueBillionPoundBottleJobsshould be definitely wise ass 🤦🏾♂️
Scoring the game winning goal in the World Cup final in extra time is more important and legendary than winning anything else.
world cup no question. prestige for the trophy that comes around once every 4 years is unmatched. i LOVE the champions league more as a competition, but the prestige just isn't the same worldwide.
Nevertheless still a legend in his own right, just that perhaps choices and his health problems pile up unexpectedly. So was Marco Reus as too injury prone though talented.
@@DrBootyShaker I think it's mostly the medical issues that are to blame. Who knows how long his chronic fatigue was undiagnosed. Goetze could have been one of the best players of all time, instead he's simply a very good player.
@@maxanderson755 I agree 100%. The metabolism problem wasn't diagnosed early enough.
Germany has a talent of Marios size again, Florian Wirtz. He already tore his ACL but came back even stronger. Lets hope he will have a great career, a career Götze could have had, too.
Winning a WC final with just your goal has to be unparalleled
He played at PSV for some time when his career was not going so well. You could just see that he was a fantastic footballer but that he had just lost focus. You would see glimpses of his skill on the pitch but never his full power.
He was a top professional at PSV, being a role model to all young players in several aspects. What do you mean by he "lost focus". He had to adapt to overcome his physical shortcomings.
He didn’t “lose focus.” He has a metabolic disease
He is one of the most profesional players psv has seen the last decade, saying lost focus on him is a massive disrespect
i dont get this "lost focus" stuff. He has a rare metabolic illness, that's the only reason he lost his speed.
I'm so glad someone finally talk about the career of Gotze, keep up the good work
My favorite player ❤❤❤ I was in Germany when they won the World Cup 2014! It was the wildest experience I've ever had!! Weltmeister! 🇩🇪❤
As an Aussie winning goal in the World Cup final it would finally put us on the map
It is safe to say Australia will never win a World Cup. (As an Australian I hope this comment ages terribly).
@@lifestyleblockhead It will come down under.... When Kangaroo's fly! - Another Australian hoping I have to eat my words someday.
@@lifestyleblockheadAustralia is all about punching above your weight one day I reckon why not.
I remember watching the world cup final and a few minutes before he came on I was telling a buddy watching, they need to bring in Mario, he can get them something I feel it…. Felt like the damn Oracle from The Matrix 😂
Really enjoying the rise of this channel. Great content
gave me shivers the whole time
Forget personal accolades, scoring the GWG in the WC Final is the apex of sport. Nothing tops it.
He might be succeeded by Gonzalo Montiel who sealed the dream of almost every modern football fan which was seeing Messi win the World Cup and doubled down on that by sealing Sevilla's 7th Europa League. 2 winning pk strikes, the rest is history. All within 6 months. Literally he's a legend no matter what, he can hibernate the rest of his life.
Naw Julian Alvarez career will be dubbed incredible and disastrous if he doesn’t leave man city for a club that allows him to be more creative and also offers him a spot on the starting 11
@perfsvn 😂😂
Keep the posting consistent :) one of the most entertaining footy channels
winning goal for a world cup is easily better than a Ballon Dor, especially the way he did it.
I'm sure messi cares so much more about his WC win than his club land success
Winning goal for sure
He stepped up for Germany when it really mattered, there’s no greater success as a footballer then to get your nation a World Cup it wouldn’t matter if he never played a match after or never scored or assisted ever again because he won a bloody World Cup
He fell prey to the curse of unfortunate injuries. Something that kills many talented wunderkinds in football, and stopped the likes of Michael Owen or Van Basten from remaining on the scene for long.
The reason someone like Messi is a rare legend is that aside from his personal traits and talent he never really got any long-term injuries and wasn't away from the field for more than a few weeks.
amazing video
He and Schürrle also suffered from depression post WC2014, there is a documentary about it on i think DW
@barrychopsticks I think people subconsciously hate Germany and their national team, so they don't go much deeper into research. Götze also isn't a media guy so it's not like he's talked about it a lot
@@barrychopsticks agreed

Winning goal in the world cup final for my country
whatever u say, he is a legend in his own right.
thats the best thing, with world cup, the whole country talks about it
Him leaving BVB was the biggest mistake, it ended BVB club as well, then followed up by Lewandowski leaving and hummels, still BVB couldnt recover from those losses
great video
he has done more than that goal in the 2014 world cup
His career trajectory is more normal than not for top prospects. We don’t shift their timelines for minutes played at such high levels at 17.
The grind is pure insanity and their entire identity is judged by performance.
One of the curses of achieving what he did is that Mario Goetze was never able to pay for his own pint in a pub after the 2014 WC
Great edit about the worst day of my life and the life of every Argentine alive. Thankfully there was redemptions in the end.
I find it interesting how gotze was 22 when he robbed Argentina of the World Cup and Mbappe was 23 when he tried robbing Argentina of the World Cup. What’s interesting is that they were the only ones on their teams to score against Argentina in the World Cup finals
“Robbing” Argentina as if Argentina deserves anything. Argentinians I hope you enjoy your inflation.
robbed ? or Argentina couldn't score?
They couldnt score my guy
Man I miss the Götzeus duo
Without a doubt, scoring winning goal in World Cup Final by sending keeper wrong way.
Score in a WC final 💯
His move to Bayern from Borussia in 2013 really killed his career BUT he continued to be very good for Germany after that regardless.
By the way, the stadium you showed at 1:11 is the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark which is in Berlin, it has nothing to do with Hombruch/Dortmund.
WC final goal is my answer
Winning goal WC for my country. Any time.
Easy come easy go
I had forgotten about the guy and his goal before the video. So if you wonna leave something to remember win the b'dor and UCL
This doesn't even need much thinking. World cup final goal all the way
No more CAMs either. Rip
The day that Gotze save football!!!
I dont even understand what the point of this video is. He'll retire a millionaire, and a legend. Poor kid.
He was already 22, to call him the greatest ever prospect is a bit of a stretch. No one thought he could be the best german ever, just more steady growth.
Either I'm being dense, or you don't know what a paradox is. What's the paradox? I mean yeah, he had his crowning success early and then by comparison had disappointing rest of career after that because he got fucked by injuries. But there's nothing paradoxical about that.
The paradox is that Götze had a great career and a bad one at the same time.
@@ball_culture I guess?
@@ball_culture Not a paradox mate. Good clickbait though
@@thetruedevvo9877He was a successful disappointment.
Greatest decision that benefited Liverpool was when he snubbed Klopp and even sacked his agent.
Injury sadly robbed Germany of their gotze reus era
imagine if he joined Liverpool
wc final goal
The guy that was "hated" in Argentina and later loved. Cool dude.
now do a video on Julian Draxler
As an Argentinian, I hate this guy with all my heart. I wish him nothing but happiness and success.
He is the most famous German in Argentina, maybe only after Hitler and followed by Beethoven.
He was a 🐍 who left for Bayern. I swear that move sparked the departures of Hummels and Lewandowski. Reus is the only loyal one. He should’ve joined Benfica instead of Frankfurt.
screw having a career, i’d rather have that goal
Perfect nostalgia Boner edit 😭😭😭
Haha had to do it
Good point what ever happen this guy?
Would you rather win the Ballon D'Or and the Champions League, or score the winning goal for your country in the World Cup final?
So, look at it this way: would you rather be Andriy Shevchenko or Mario Götze?
Who will be tempered for longer, Geoff Hurst, or Pavel Nedved?
*remembered
@@christianround2774 Geoff Hurst scored a hattrick though. That's entirely different.
Let me ask you a question. Without googling, who scored the winning foal in the 1990 World Cup final. It ended 1-0.
@@brianduru3753 That's a good point I actually have no idea. Brehme maybe? You can name a lot of that team though.
I think you greatly misrepresented what he meant to German football and his remarkable comeback with PSV and Frankfurt, but otherwise decent video
It isn't a paradox though.
The paradox is that he had a good career and a bad one at the same time.
Wait 2014 was 9 year ago?
Yeah bro
🥲
and its about to be 10 I WANNA GO BACK 😢
Carnivore diet would have cured his ills
The Ballon D’Or has been rigged for a while and the Champions League doesn’t compare to World Cup. I would rather score the winning goal in a World Cup Final.
Should’ve never joined Bayern
How is this a paradox? Nothing paradoxal about this at all.
The paradox is that he had a good career and a bad one at the same time.
Well I resent the satanic nature my country of canada now stands for. So i would pick a champions league.
Pff, who cares about the world cup really?! Look at current winners country... do they look like winners at anything that's truly relevant?! Now, to win a CL... that season, you and your teammates were the best players in the best football competition in the world. You, your teammates, the fans. And if a football team wins a competition... you talk about the team; if the national team wins, who won? The country... lol
that's why it's important, it's the countrys pride.
Olympics football tournaments need more spotlight
@@ilyaa2010 lol if you are proud of your country because of a football team... bro you better reflect on your priorities!! I'm proud of my football team because that's what they do! Awful, full of corruption, white supremacist, killers of indigenous people. poverty, crime, mineral exploitation, no education, place with no electricity... no country is perfect, but when you have all of that who cares about the world cup?!
