Thanks bro my dad passed away and his 1970 Malibu 307 original about everything no rust still in my mom garage in Connecticut Hartford the chevelle build in Canada not in USA but pretty much the same
Love this, thank you! My Grandma had the same car same color except hers was a white hard top. She bought it brand new and I remember going with her and my dad to pick it up. I was 5. My sister bought it from her when she got her license (she was 7 years older than I) but didn't take the best care of it. I purchased it from my sister when I was 15. It had over 100k on it by then. Unfortunately after 2 years I had a rollover with it into a drainage ditch in the winter. It was quite a mess to clean up and get running again, was never the same. I didn't have the sentimental value in it as I do today, and sold it to a scrap yard. Wish more than anything that I would have held on to it.
My paternal grandfather had a '71 4 door hardtop. It was dark brown with a black roof and tan interior. 400 cu. in. motor but he traded it in '76 for a PACER! LOL!! My aunt (my mother's sister) had a '70 with the 307. 4 door sedan in dark blue with a black interior. She put 165k miles on that car in 5 1/2 years. She sold it to my cousin and he drove it for 4 years. It wound up at my grandmother's house and she sold it for $100. She wished my father bought it for me to tinker with but we were too far away. I think that car had over 200k miles in ten years. The guy who bought it was rear ended, such a shame. Great car! Don't ever give up on that car. Enjoy it for as long as you can.
Owned a 71 back in the late 70s. 307 I had rebuilt in fall of 78 was a great driver. Dumbest thing I ever did was get rid of it for a newer vehicle. I pine for it all the time. Enjoy my friend.
I didn't know about the History of this beauty. Look at the resources that are used for this car & how your family & you treated the car. Love you passion & I love how you take care of her because it's your only car.
Cool car, your great grandmother had good taste! The 454 was still available in 1971, but not the LS6. Personally I would paint it or at least touch it up, it would look so much nicer with glossy paint.
CrowVelle it’s getting the brand new 6k$ cot man trans n driveshaft redone for the 4th time since March of 18😞 I’ll make a video when I get it back maybe 🤷🏻♂️
Should be a line acrossbalancer.paint it with white paint pen.should have a tab on timing chain cover.use a timing light to set timing. You can buy repop seat covers from any of the chevelle parts places.Completely did my 72 interior with repop parts and looks good.
Boots and old cars go hand in hand. Would love to see some cold starts of this bad boy from inside showing us what your boot is doing on the gas when starting it. Cool channel! Subscribed!
Thank you! And sorry, but being in Florida, & with her starting up as easily as she does, there's not much action to show. I just push the pedal down once, & she fires right up.
Thanks for your video. I took my moms Malibu over. I am thinking about also making it my daily driver around town. Wanted to know about your routine on maintenance like oil, coolant, fluids, what to inspect for around lines or brakes. Maybe next video idea.
Well, I made another video on this, but after coming back to your comment, I'm not sure I've really answered your question. Here ruclips.net/video/F7EcVETMRo4/видео.html is the video, but I seem to have focused more on breaking parts, instead of routine maintenance. As far as that goes, it's pretty basic. Of course it depends on what the car has been through, but routine steps for me include: Oil change every 3,000 miles (also, topping it off every so often, because of the leaks, make sure it's always full). Check the coolant regularly (I also have no gauges, this may be different for you. I highly recommend gauges, that will be my next purchase, soon). Not routine, but if it hasn't been gone through for a while, check & change any hoses, belts, & especially vacuum lines that look like they may cause an issue. Change the cap & rotor; points, if you have them. Make sure your plug wires are good, & check your spark plugs every once in a while, they will tell you how well your car is running. Do some research on your tranny & decide for yourself if you want to change your fluid & filter. Check all of your brakes, mine needed a rebuild, which is routine. I've also had to change the master cylinder (BENCH BLEED IT BEFORE INSTALL); & there is a rubber hose above the diff. that connects the two rear brakes. Mine collapsed & caused the rears to drag pretty bad. Check that hose, if it's original, you might as well change it. I wouldn't worry about the rest of the lines, unless they look bad, just check them out. Air filter - check & change or clean & re-oil if you've got a reusable one. I use Seafoam and/or Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank, just follow the directions. You may want to rebuild the carburetor, try to figure out the last time that was done. Thunderhead289 on here has some great videos on ignition timing, & carb tuning, that's super high up on the list in keeping your car running properly. Now obviously, this is a lot, just don't get overwhelmed. It all doesn't need to be done immediately, of course. Just piddle around on the weekends, or whatever, & have fun with it. My car sure has taught me a lot, & I definitely think it's worth it. The best advice I can probably give you is to find an owner's manual for your car on eBay, if you don't already have it, & get a Chiltons manual for your year & model. I didn't give you specific mileage or times when you should do these checks & changes, because yours may be completely different. Go by these to determine your maintenance schedule. Sorry for the novel, but I sure hope this helps. Thank you again for watching, & for the comment. Enjoy your Malibu!
Nice whip , hope you changed the cam because they always go bad in the 307 , a four barrel carb and upgraded cam would make it faster. They spark knock may come from tight valves it may need a valve adjustment.
Nice. I also drive older cars. I want nothing to do with the computerized trash they are making today. I am a recently retired government fleet services mechanic, and I worked on so many of those s#!tcans I never want anything to do with one ever again. I have a 1974 Malibu woodgrain wagon I've had for over 30 years. Engine and transmission have been replaced, rear end rebuilt, I completely replaced ALL the steering, suspension, and brake parts. It's medium blue, it's an AZ car, zero rust, but the paint is faded. I decided to leave it that way. But I did have the woodgrain vinyl replaced by a sign shop that does full vehicle body wraps. Still has it's original steel wheels and bright full wheel covers. I can't stand the looks of black wheels or wheels larger than 15". They just look totally disgusting to me. Like something from the ghetto.

I had a '71 El Camino in that same color, best color ever. Nobody ever believed it was a factory paint job. Antique Green Poly, Code 49.

that's fantastic. my family had the same car when I was a kid except ours was a brown or maroon color. This video brought back many memories
swampzoid That’s awesome! Glad I could share this, you don’t see too many that are stock, still.
Nice video. It’s giving me hope w my 71 Malibu.
Greg Daniels Thanks, man! You should post a video, there aren’t many 71’s on here.

AM G That is a good video idea, thank you for your comment. I’ll try to get that done. If not a video, I’ll get back to you with a message.

CrowVelle how many miles per gallon do u get?
Joseph Talamantes Last time I figured it up, it averaged 16 mpg.
Nice whip , hope you changed the cam because they always go bad in the 307 , a four barrel carb and upgraded cam would make it faster. They spark knock may come from tight valves it may need a valve adjustment.
How is the Chevelle doing? Have you thought of making another video?
I have thought about it, maybe I will soon. She is still doing well.
❤❤❤
I have one too.
