    How do you know if they are cheap snake or expensive snakeskin boots? Mine are real snakeskin however they have a Dan post label that looks sketchy to me having had others. I sell on eBay and I'm torn on what to put in listing.

    • @crowvelle
      @crowvelle 4 месяца назад

      @@Meekavintage Just be honest about what they are and the condition. Dan Post isn't my personal favorite brand, but they do make good boots. I don't think they would be fake, if that's what you're thinking. The only "cheap" exotic hide boots I would stay away from would be no-names. If they don't even come from a reputable brand, there's a good chance they aren't high quality. There's also the potential that the hides were acquired in an ill manner.

      It'll last maybe two weeks, depending on variables. I wouldn't do this on a modern car, just on something that's lost a lot of paint. Even with my car, I decided to go back to regular washing/waxing. If you're trying to stop rust & have a temporary sheen, go for the oil.

    2:27 I was gonna use my bare hands with the mink oil cuz I seen it on a bunch of other tutorials and I wanted to get the right feel for it in my hands but I just couldn’t get myself to trust that my hands were clean enough 😂 it’s not OCD but I am pretty anal about that sorta thing and I was afraid of getting any grime on my hands onto the boots so I just used some nitirile gloves but then I was worried about the chemicals in the gloves getting into the leather so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Did you clean the boots before the mink oil tho? The one thing I worry about is using the wrong kind of cleaner for the boots cuz like a jerk I used kiwi saddle soap on a pair of frye Paul inside zips and ruined the patina then had to completely strip the dye and redye it and now I’m dying them again cuz I did it wrong the first time. I want to use the saphir (avel) leather cleaner (not the saddle soap) on a different pair of inside zips but I’m afraid it’ll ruin the patina again. It’s a great cleaner but I don’t know if it’s right for the boot. What did you use? Did it strip any of the patina? When you dye a boot do you condition with the mink oil after or before the dye? Thanks for the video it’s cool seeing Someone else do this too.

I tried it once on an old '47 Chevy and in a few weeks it looked worse than when I began, it was all crusted with dirt and dust just from the wind and it was super pain in the arse to get off.

      I went back to waxing my car, but I'd still recommend this method for worse paint. Mine got a little dusty, but I used too much. If I do it again, I'll try adding some acetone with the oil to cut it, I'd wipe it down afterwards, & make sure to wait at least overnight for it to cure or just dry.
