I told you all I'd keep you updated, so I want to let you know this didn't work perfectly. I put the leather strip too low in the boots.
The back of your heel isn't what grips to the boot, you need to put it a bit higher.
I actually left them with the strip still in, but I added an additional strip of leather above this one, where your Achilles tendon rests. I just made it about half the length of the first one.
Now, they fit fine, almost too tight; but with a couple wears, they will be perfect.
Saved myself from getting rid of these boots. I hope this helped someone out, thank you again for watching!

So do I want to place it where the shoot meets the rest of the boot then

@Cook Yeah, pretty much. You don't want it to be too low. I put it square in the middle of where the counter leather meets the shaft. You know, that pointy part, where the stitching is.

This seems like a good fix , my only suggestion / tweak would be to slightly taper or sand the top lip of the leather belt so that your heel doesn't catch on the way in the boot and start to curl over or pull off over time , i have a problem with one foot being a tad smaller / thinner than my other foot so i can never get a pair to fit snug on each foot the same , So i can see how this would work so that i dont have to wear two socks on just one foot ,.... i just need to figure out the thickness of the leather strip i would need to apply to one boot to take up the slack .since it's only about 1/8 -3/16 which is about the thickness of a good leather belt .

excellent diy fix. A cobbler can do this, as well, but you'll have to pay. Thanks for the video.

i did put a piece of leather belt in my engineers since it was too big, but instead putting it on the back, i put it on the lower front tongue so there would be less friction happening between your feet and your boots, and it works perfectly

I had to get two pairs which were as close to my size as possible, due to availability issues, I used an insole to make them fit

If you dont like hard leather insoles, thats good, if you do, this is better.

That’s a really good idea my friend - what type of glue did u use? Do you think hot glue would also work

Thanks, buddy. This www.ebay.com/itm/114099669625 is what I used. Don't buy it from there, it's cheaper at Wal-Mart.
As for hot glue; no, I don't think that would work. I'm sure when you try putting them on, it would rip off.
