    Let me know your thoughts on the Red Wings Off-Season

    I think the purpose of the Walman trade was to clear cap space for Trouba. There was no way for Yzerman to know Trouba would nix a trade to his hometown team because of his wife’s residency. The Rangers really mucked that up.

    Why are you acting dumb like Yzerman wasn't trying to make a trade for Trouba?
    Clearly, he had a plan and shit happened yo. At least acknowledge that.

    Did you not watch Yzerman’s press conference when he talked about all of this? Nobody wanted Holl or Petry, he tried to trade them first. Had no takers. Walman isn’t exactly a top defenseman in the league. He’s flashy and good, but his 21 points can be easily replaced somebody much cheaper too. Gotta look big picture and long term. Wings are going to need a lot of cap space for the RFAs and any potential trades and more UFAs in the next year or two.

    The Walman trade still puzzles me. There is a lot riding on the youth coming up. A big push HAS to be coming up to make this team successful. Big transition year so hopefully this off-season isn't as bad as it might seem.

    none of these people realize what Steve walked into 16 million in dead cap and they have steadily improved every year. from the beginning he said they are building through the draft and he has stuck to that Joe Veleno is market value compared to the rest of the NHL. ghost was terrible at D and Johasson is going to overachieve this year. Sprong was god awful at back checking dude was a healthy scratch when they needed goals and he signed for under a million this year , that should tell you what other GM's think of him . dodged a bullet with Trouba , if you look at Wally's numbers he was just ass last year .

    The reason for the Walman trade escapes me. The Fabbri trade is an obvious cap dump. The expectation is that Johnny Burgers will take that role and it allowed for Tarasenko.

    Im disappointed with the walman trade. He has been reliable, and we know that from him. Steve def couldve gotten something for walman. In the long term, with a cup in the next 10 yrs or so, walman trade will be forgotten; except by walman.

    The Wings had everything in their favor last year with Seider and Raymond both making less that 1 mil. Yzerman had cap space to sign some decent players to fill out the roster and they still missed the playoffs. Now Yzerman needs to pay Seider and Raymond what they're worth Yzerman is scrambling, trading good players in Walman and Fabbri. I do not understand the Yzerplan.

      I think the goalie situation cost them a lot. Of the 3, I like Lyon the most, but he is proving to be more of a back up who is quite capable of going on a heater if you're willing to play him when he's on a hot streak. Obtaining top players is SO competitive in the NHL, you have to say Yzerman is really trying. What I see is they are now considerably better than Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal, Minnesota and a handful of others. They are closer to the playoffs than many of the playoff borderline dwellers.

    • @jakerain2820
      @jakerain2820 Месяц назад +1

      stats say walman was not a good player... at all. almost no defenseman, let alone one thats supposed to be with your top pair, has only single digit assists. He could not push the play forward, and very bad in the D zone.

    The fact you’re mentioning Tarasenko on the 3rd line proves the lack of research/following you have done with the Wings.

    • @ProggaWoggga
      @ProggaWoggga Месяц назад

      This isn't the Tarasenko of the St Louis era. Probably good for 15 to 20 goals. Remember that in his time in Florida, he was playing with some elite players and outperformed what was expected. I hope for Wings fans he performs that way this season.

      Considering we have improved every year point wise and we have one of the best prospect pool says Yzerman is doing a good job. Our cap management is also excellent. We don't get 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall draft picks. No lottery luck. So, having a great prospect pool without lottery luck says alot. It's going to take a little bit to be Stanley Cup contenders. I believe Yzerman will make improvements via trade.

      @@mariovaccarella6854 Tampa had a few things going for them when Yzerman took over. Their cap management wasn't as awful as Detroit. Tampa had some good young players that Yzerman traded. For 1st round, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5round picks. Like the Drouin trade. He also traded Kyle Quincy to Detroit that netted him a 1st and other picks. One of those picks turned out to be their Russian goalie or Kutcherov, i forget. He drafted really well and he turned some of those prospects into really god trades. It took Yzerman 2yrs to get rid of hollands mess of the cap. Yzerman didn't even hire is own coach until year 2 of the Wings rebuild. Also Yzerman is building a team in Detroit who gets zero lottery luck. We had the worst record in all of hocker and we FELL to 4th overall lol. Luckily for us Raymond was available 4th overall. Yzerman also shocked the hockey world by drafted Seider at 6th overall. Everyone said "thats a awful pick, they could've got him between 17 and 28th overall. Which i doubted. I think Edmonton would've drafted him. Yzerman drafting Edvinsson the following year. He's another big d-man at 6'6, who has really good offensive potential. He also is very responsible in his own end. He will be playing full time this year. The following year red wings fans sh!t their pants because we drafted Nate Danielson at 9th overall. The guy is 6'1 180lbs. He's a natural center. At 18yrs old last preseason he put up 5 points in 7 games. This guy, imho, is ready to play now. Him learning from larkin, Kane, Seider, Raymond, Compher, Rasmussen would be extremely valuable. Especially with Kane. That same draft we drafted the best d-man at 17th out of Sweden. Axle Peliken. That dude has been playing with men since he was 17yrs old and he keeps getting better. I've been spoiled asva Wings fan. People say "we bought our championship." If you go back and look at our roster in 97, 98, 2001/02 and 07. We drafted our core players. Lidstrom, Fedorov, Yzerman, McCarty, Osgood, Dallas Drake, Datsyuk, Kronwall, Zetterburg, Marty LaPoint, we got Draper for 1$. He played 20yrs with us, Franzen, Fillpula, Hudler. We did trade guys like Keith Premue(who we drafted) for Shanny and Shanny played 10, 11yrs in Detroit. In 02, Lucky Luc, Hasek and Hull all wanted to play for us. We traded Slava Koslov(who we drafted) for Hasek. Yzerman, Chelios. Shanny, Lidstrom all deffered payment on their deals to get Luc and Hull. Those guys also took pay cuts too. LA matched Detroits offer, Hull turned down 9million from Montreal and NYR. Hasek turned down a trade with St Louis. The blues offered him 10 million lol. I believe Yzermans philosophy is the same one as Scotty Bowman. Yzerman is building his team from the blue line out. Scotty Did the same thing when he came to Detroit in 93. Yzerman is also drafting 2 way players like Bowman did. Guys who can score goals and put up points, but also play responsible defensively. I think Detroit is on the right track.

    I don't understand this obsession with Walman? The guy is not a top 4 defenseman. He's overrated. Why trade him? Cap space and we have a few defenseman coming up who's ready to play. Also, we were going to trade for Trouba. Trouba nixed the trade. It happens, we will probably trade for a defenseman this seasons deadline. We are building our team through the draft. We got Edvinsson, he's got to play. He's a 6th overall pick. We also had to resign Veleno, have to resign Raymond and Seider. This team has improved every year under Yzerman points wise. Also we tried to trade Holl, nobody wanted him. I heard he was supposed to part of the Trouba trade. Petry is a depth piece. Hes cheap as hell.
