Eve Online Mining Orca AFK Highsec - Is it worth it?

- Hey folks,
So I jumped in an Orca on the test server to see if buying an Orca and semi afk mining is worth the time and hassle. I break down the fitting, look at the ISK per hour unrefined ores, compressed ores and refined minerals so see the difference in ISK that could be made.

I did this on the test server to ensure the belt was full and to try out different fittings. Beware that if you are going to do this on the main server you could be ganked!

Orca works great for me. Mining is just one of my income streams, and since COVID lockdown and working from home full time, I now have EVE on my third monitor. I mine semi afk while in my 8 hour work day. Hi sec mining the same location for plag and making a steady 20 million per hour x 8 hours a day for the last six months. You only need to look over at local for reds and rats, and I only dock when there is a gang in system. Then, later in the evening I can do other things that require full attention.

Orca Gud! Aside from solo mining, it can provide fleet support, do some minor hauling, super duper tanky if fit right, can do pve including the old emerging conduits solo, and I know one player that does PvP fights in Jita with it through suspect baiting. Its an amazing workhorse of a ship!
Good Orca. It's a pretty good setup. I'm not a pro with fitting but it seems good enough to do what you need it to.

Orca Good, I've bee training into one for a bit now as a solid basis for indy! I have also seen some ganks pulled off with cloaky armor burst Orca's and a clever use of the ship maintenance bay!

I'd get rid of the low slot Reinforced Bulkhead. It adds a good amount of structure, but you take a big hit on the inertia modifier which makes this already slow brick take even longer to align and get into warp. The only thing slower is a Freighter. Also, adding a mid slot Drone Navigation Computer will help increase your drone max speed thereby speeding up your travel time between the roids and the ship. As always, always be align to something you can warp to like a station, or a structure you can dock at. My Augmented drones mine 333.05 m3 with a velocity of 1239.6 m/sec and a cycle time of 60 sec. Combine an Orca with a Hulk, and you've got an awesome mining combo.

My favorite afk isk maker is faction warfare defensive plexing in an unfitted t1 frigate.
