    If you want more yield for risk, swapping some/all of the shield tank for Drone Navi Comps. will increase the speed of mining drones.
    What I do is anchor a Mobile Depot, re-fit in a Survey Scanner. The tech2 gets 135km range. Unfitting it and restoring your shield tank module does not close the Survey window. Allowing you have a read across the entire belt of all the available ores.

      If your fleet is large enough gangs are nit aproblem. I mine with my orca and 5 to 7 skiffs if I've seen ganking in the area, or I'll use their hulks. Numbers deter gankers for sure. I mean, when that many drones hit the field idk lmao

    On the matter of new trade hubs forming, I have seen a huge amount of activity moving to Deltole in gallente space, right near the border into minmatar. The manufacturing index there is approaching 9% and not slowing down, and now over 17000 jumps in a day of 'Silk Road' traffic.

      Bump out of drone control range? If you can be bump out of control range for mining drones, you're WAY too far away. Drone control range of decent skills is in the 40km+ range, that much travel time absolutely wrecks your income.

    Okay, because YOU are one of the key reasons I am playing, Bleak Lands, minor victory system.....we lost the Rakovene....then the systems get pulled into Abyssal, within a week, no Triglavians, no disintegrators, only radiation in system, belts are chunky though. So my system went from a Rakovene mine to a normal .5 system, and my corporation is already adapting by sending me to concentrate on harvesting salvage from Blood Raiders. My CEO is very experienced and does a lot of station trading and shipwright trade but she told me that for us miners things will change. I simply switched to using the SICO trade hub of Ronne to sell ore. Amarr industrialists are keeping busy and adapting, and it helps to have market reports that are so well done. Fly Dangerous, Mine Safely. ;) Greetings from the Bleak Lands.

    When they first talked about this - one of the thing they said was "not enough mining vessels are being destroyed" (or words very close to that). So - they seem to be trying to force miners down into low sec - where they can be destroyed if they want anything other than Veldspar. The thing is - they complained that Veteran Miners had learned how not to get ganked. Mining IS a PVP activity. You've already got people who are looking to blow miners up - but - the miners had figured out how to avoid that - by not getting caught. In other types of PVP - you have a contest between combat ships. With Miners - PVP consists of the hunters and the hunted. Miners win - by not getting caught.
    But that's not what CCP wants. They want to see miners getting blown up. They said so.
    For me - this is a Betrayal of the Players. What Happened to a Player Driven Economy? What happened to the Sand Box?
    I was actually doing mostly Veldspar mining in High Sec - but - every now and then - I wanted to build something and I liked being able to find the minerals I needed in High Sec. There were a few I had to buy or get from refining loot but it was OK.
    Well - CCP is running the economy now - not the players ... so ... I'm not going to play.

      Yep. The only change im glad off that the Sove Anomalies now have at least rocks big enough to be mined by Rorquals again..... too bad they are kinda worthless now :D
      If you mine with a solo medium skilled rorqu in Sove you make about 80mil per h with a ship that costs you like 4bil fitted that needs to siege and is more or less a sitting duck. A boosted Hulk with T2 Crystals will yield around 130-160 mil/h when boosted either by a Rorqual (cheap boost fit) or Orcas....

    • @BobSmith-dk8nw
      @BobSmith-dk8nw 3 года назад

      @@Parkbank Yeah. I've got an Orca somewhere but the account that has it (whichever one it is) is an alpha now so ... I used to have enough accounts to do full fledged mining ops in mission space but that was a long time ago.
      Before the ore nerf they just did I had 3 omega accounts I used on mining ops with just a couple of Retrievers and a hauler but they were to new to have anything better. Those were the accounts I canceled the Omega's on when I heard about these changes.
      I can deal with the gankers out there - I'm a vetean miner and know how to not get caught - but I can't deal with the developers plotting my destruction. So - fuck 'em. I'll go play some other game.
      I got a copy of Elite Dangerous but it won't connect to their server ... I need to get that sorted but my good gaming laptop broke and I'm just using some cheap $300 systems right now. Eh ...

      Currently I am seeing a hilarious trend on high sec mining. Even inside jita. Mission rooms miners figured out how to keep the mission rooms open with mining items.

    • @BobSmith-dk8nw
      @BobSmith-dk8nw 3 года назад +5

      @@ordikaskirita5234 Mining items? I wasn't aware of any mining items that could keep a mission space open.
      If you don't turn in the mission - then THAT will keep it open - you just might lose your mission bonus if you don't get your mining done fast enough.
      IF you have someone stay in there - THAT - will keep it open after the mission has been turned in. As long as there is a player in it - the mission space won't close.
      So - I'd have one guy run a mission - and then stay there until the other guys from his Fleet could warp to him in their miners - then - he would go get his salvager ship while they were mining - and then go get his mining vessel after that. As long as one guy was in the mission space he could turn in the mission and it wouldn't close.
      If the mission guy was the hauler - the miners could jet can and he could put tractors on his hauler and pull the cans to him or tow them around. You just need to monitor for combat scanners. If you pick some up - and you haven't turned in the mission - you can warp the ships out of there and the space will stay active. I don't think the combat scanner probes will pick up the jet cans (which last 2 hours).
      There's a Gallente specialized Industrial with a large Ore Hold that you can put two tractors on and a micro warp drive to get around. Then of course you could have an Orca which has (or at least had) like a 70k tractor range on it.
      I've been playing EVE of and on since 2007 and only twice ever had some one warp into my mission space. The first guy was a ninja salvager and the second guy was just testing out his combat scanners (or so he said). The first guy was in a system I got Story Line missions in. There were Level IV mission runners in that system and that was what he was after. The second guy was in a system with the Career Agents in it - so it was a busy system. The thing there - is that the Combat Career Agent gives out a number of missions with some big rocks in them.
      The best way to avoid that is to find a mission giver in a quiet sector of space. Then watch local. If no one new comes into your system you don't have to watch for Combat Scanners as much. You just have to jump from where ever your base is to the system the missions in.
      The thing is - those mission spaces mostly have Veldspar in them ... it's often fairly large rocks but it's mostly Veldspar. So - that isn't going to help you if you need ores that CCP had banned from High Sec.
      The thing that pissed me off - was CCP sticking their fingers in to try and MAKE us play their way. Before there was a risk/reward thing where if you wanted the higher end ores you had to go to Low Sec - but that was a choice. Now - it's a lot of the ores that used to be High Sec Ores - so they're really trying to FORCE us down there.
      The thing with Low Sec Mining - is it's a big pain in the ass. It isn't about the "risk" involved - it's about all the extra _work_ involved in mitigating the risk. There's a big long list of things you can do to keep from getting caught (scouts, safe spots, cloaks, D-Scan, hiding) but all that takes more time and effort. The Opportunity Cost makes it more efficient to just mine Veld in High Sec and sell it - then buy whatever minerals you want. The REAL reason for mining in Low Sec - is the Challenge - but if you just want to make money - High Sec is better. But most of us Veteran Miners have figured that out and how not to get caught - and - CCP wants more of us to get blown up.
      I can deal with other players. I've been dealing with other players off and on for 13 years - but - I can't deal with CCP being out to get me.
      Fuck them. There are other games I can play.
      .

      if you ask me- alongside those orca nerfs it would be cool to see a revamp of the "ORE" shiptree as a whole. with new mining vessels maybe. Something bigger then a venture, smaller than a Proc, 2 different L size Miners and such. with a fitting T1 ice miner (alongside the three M sized vessels) and reworked T2 Ventures (neither of them really have a place in the game rn...). And rorqual now feels just TOO chunky to use in these tiny null-belts. So i dont mind a complete rework.

    Remember when real mining meant hopping into a Domi, running a bunch of Rogue Drone L4's, and scooping the alloys in a Tractor 'Cane?
    Edit: Also, rock size has to do with how they spawn and players manipulating that mechanic. Each (day?) they respawn instead of being completely mined, they grow a little bigger. Basic rule of thumb is to leave at least a small amount of the rock if you choose to mine it rather than completely burning it, that way it continues to grow over time. Something along those lines. Nothing really new there.

    Personally, I would replace the Caldari Navy Large Shield Extender
    and Gist A-Type Thermal Shield Hardener with a pair of Drone Navigation II in the mid slots. They will Increase the microwarpdrive speed of your drones reducing their back and forth travel time. Something you didn't mention, is to always be aligned something like a dockable station or structure. If gankers come at you, you'll get into warp a bit faster. Actually, you should always do this no matter what you are mining in.

  • @vorlash1
    @vorlash1 3 года назад

    The issue with expensive drones isn't smartbombs, it's getting shoved off grid. If you get pushed far enough away from them, they deactivate and become inert. Some setups can shove you away faster than they can return, and eventually you will lose control of them. You can warp away, but the problem still exists because you will lose control of them while you are off grid. Orcas aren't gank proof, but the largest risk is a bot account with mass amounts of Talos. You can set an Orca up to tank many many ships, at least for a while, and especially if you spider tank them with multiple Orca on grid. You just need to keep an eye on local, and listen to intel regarding gankers pulling CONCORD into an out of the way spot of a system and prolong the response time.

      Yes. Since you just have a 5,000 m3 ore hold, mine Veldspar (Dense & Concentrated, too). Also had an alt in Curse npc null space, he had 22 belts in the system and after the change there is no ore at all, that sure is a slap in the face think the entire region of Curse is devoid of ore now, cause the systems are not low enough, lowest is -0.3, over Great Wildlands you had like 6 rocks of Crokite in a belt but only when you hit -0.6 or was it -0.7 hmm :)

      The Triglavians have now a constelation of 23 Systems that they "Steal" from high sec/low sec, the Gates to these Systems are now Deactivated and can be only reached with specific Filaments or Wormholes.
      This has cut the old 7 or 8 Jumps from Jita to Amarr to like 40 Jumps - What now shakes on Jita Throne as Main Tradehub since Amarr space has the most high sec systems.
      Besides CCP Changed where you can find certain Resources in the Belts totaly, so you cant easy get all Minerals now in any Type of Space - At least not anymore in that Volumes since Missions and Combat anomalys dint change and still have the Ores in them.

    You can loose the expensive drones quite easily - go to the bathroom and suddnely a Machariel is bumping you at 3km/s off of the belt, and demanding you abandon the drones. Now with the new warp mechanic your ship gets away, but he gets the drones, and the drones are not fast enough to catch up with you. I lost 250m like this. Always count with return on investment - how long do you have to mine to pay for 250m of drones? Very, very long time even with those changes.

    • @rabid_si
      @rabid_si 3 года назад

      Solo mining in an orca is for people who want to be making some passive money in the background while doing other things. It's low maintenance. Plenty of those same solo orca miners also run with other miners in corp or run their own barge/exhumer alts for when the want to mine in a more active capacity. The whole point is to use the orcas good points (low maintenance and attention required) to extract value from time that would otherwise be wasted doing nothing because you have other things demanding your attention. I fail to see how that's a waste of value.
