Another great video just giving a progress update without any for or against discussions. One thing that does surprise me is the amount of land and infrastructure needed that will be outside the line of the railway itself. I agree that a lot more infrastructure is needed than would be the case in other countries. In some they might just bulldoze the line through without any considerations to local people or the environment.
Where the railway goes in a cutting the sides of the cutting are battered to prevent a collapse of the embankments. They will be landscaped over at completion.
There’s 500+ bridges being built along the HS2 line, that’s without mentioning the overhead viaducts which amounts to 50. It’s an enormous infrastructural undertaking. The HS2 website gives you an insight of all the works been carried out.
as a comparison _ what is the projected cost of the lower thames crossing _ 9-10 billion _ and it's in the wrong place _ Dartford crossing gets very busy _ capacity there not 15miles downstream but it might not happen _ and they have spent actually how much so far on just the planning & some survey works etc _ 800 -900million without actually building anything _ yes _ original budget hopelessly optimistic
There is SO MUCH MORE INFRASTRUCTURE per kilometer , than has to installed , than in europe , just amazing , this is where the costs incured per kilometer comes into reality .... oh mind you what a great idea / reality ...lets have a railway at 150kilometers long and a railway designed for 325 kilometers an hour ..only on the island that can happen well done islanders well done ...😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you for video , great views of rail crossing and area ... again thank you ...
If the project had been better managed then it wouldn't just be a 150km railway. If it had been connected to HS1 and the rest of the European high-speed rail network that would have made a lot more sense.
@krayzkatman1990 as said , built by the islanders ..... WHAT CONNECT TO THE EUROPEAN NETWORK !!!! Non no .. we are the islanders , imperialists through and through, no direct dispersal of effing foreigners on this green and pleasant island thank you Mr. Foreigner ... oh yes indeedey....thank you ...
jesus christ it's a LINE there are thousands of square miles either side of it. Motorway projects need constant widening and people like you never seem to care about that.

When one looks at the enormous amount of civil engineering work on this line the original budget was ridiculously low !

More beautiful ripped up for a tasteless project.
