...and about time too! This roundabout has been the bane of motorists' life since the year dot! The overbridge from east to west should have been built 30-40 years ago!
Would be better with an actual location of each section of works not just a general one , i live here and can't figure out exactly were these are apart from the black cat obviously please
Hmm, two things. One Those bridges seem to be below the level of the existing A1M - built on a causeway to prevent them being flooded by the river. And the road bed seems to below that. Unless this is for redirecting the river. Two. I am amazed you got away with flying a drone over their "base camp" without it getting plugged with a strongly worded 12 gauge. I get yelled at by the robot just for wheeling my bicycle too close to the renta-fence.
My thoughts too, this area is liable to flooding, you can see how bad it is already, sadly raising the flood plain will cause other issues upstream, the A1 near Sandy has from time to time flooded and this will not help as has parts of Bedford (although that's quite a distance away).
I wouldn't assume anything. Further along the A421, they dug down, so the road was far below the level of the original land. Then relied on a pump to remove the water. This did not work very well last month, when it flooded and was closed for a couple of weeks !

Nice video, but it would have been nice to have had an inset map to show the location we were looking at
Understandable, will include them going forward

I assume they’ll elevate the new stretch over the flood plain?
