In this video, I made a keyboard fully by 3d printing every part. From the keycaps to the plate to the case, all were 3d printed. Lets see how great this will be...

Technically, “custom” keyboards are always pre-made

Fax
Nooo. When those "custom" built users find out about this, they're gonna spontaneously explode
No. Pre made are setup in factory. Custom are assemble by our selves hence custom.
Yep, but you can choose the plate, case, stab, switch, keycaps,...
I usually skip the parts where RUclipsrs talk about their sponsorships but with squashy boy they're so creative lmao it's worth every second.
Danehearth does high effort ads too.

A lot of people have been saying this, but I’ll say it too; for the bigger parts, like the case and plate, FDM 3D printing works very well. However, for smaller parts, resin 3D printing is the way to go, since you can get so much more detail. However, your effort in making this keyboard (especially modeling the parts) is commendable; good job!
You can even get some pretty decent results with an old printer and basic, cheap resin. I just built a corne with kailh choc v1 switches and was having a hard time finding keycaps that I really liked. The ones I loved the most were 3D printed and constantly out of stock, with no models to be found anywhere, then I ended up designing keycaps myself. For those switches, it's actually pretty simple to design low profile keycaps. The hardest part is sanding for a smoother finish and hand painting the legends, should you decide to have legends.
me: buys keyboard and mods it and still sounds bad
squashy: literally prints a 3d keyboard and tapes stabilizer with tape and sounds good
same bro
i will ur pain
Wait. You didn't take your stabs? That's the only thing I did in my build. I didn't lube the Oreo switches, but I did tape the stabs and used dielectric grease on the to reduce rattle.
I swear squashy's sponsored ads are so entertaining to watch I can never skip them, he always finds a way to make it funny
true
Recently finishes Steins;gate and even the name Kurisu makes me want to cry bro
@@mirai5268 I feel you T-T
@@mirai5268 well u gotta watch Steins gate 0 and then the movie now 👀👀
@@ahmeds9395 I did bro, it was really amazing but depressing aswell
i love the fact that all his videos are goofy, its just so funny to watch, absolutely love the work man
HEAPS of love from bangladesh to you man!
i’m actually interested to hear the sound if the stabs weren’t 3d printed in sandpaper
With the switch thing, you may want to look at nozzle sizes, it should be possible on a printer such as yours, just with maybe a 0.25mm nozzle instead of the standard 0.4!
They will probably end up very scratchy. So you should use brown filament and call them tactile.
They won’t work because there are no metal contacts
Thank you for pressing the keys the way you did. I really appreciate the sounds and the consideration you took for us to listen to every key.
I have to say, that manscaped ad is probably the best ad I have ever seen.
This is the content I wish to make in the future.
Absolutely love the comedy, even in the sponsored segments.
I appreciate the project! you could make this a series where you come back to it and fully flesh out a different major component of the keyboard. I think it would be well received. Great work!
Please do it again, but with resin 3D printers! :D
Love the ad, the personality and the fact you shared the mistakes. 👍
this guy 3d printed a keyboard with a plate that is split in half and it sounds better than my keyboard.
The only thing that destroyed this build is the stabs, you could probably get away using standard wires instead and it’ll be amazing.
The part of your videos with the sponsors are so good, I don’t skip them.
The fact that squashy boy consistently makes me enjoy sponsor ads is amazing

Your ad for manscape made me subscribe. Also the project.
The effort this man put into his sponsored ads is just as much as those printed keyboard

"I haven't slept for, like, 5 days"
me who hasn't slept since 2016: *_weak._*
I really like the way it looks hand written, might do something similar to a blank keycap set
Yooooo that's a lot of effort to do man. Great job!
ok why does it still sound so nice
you need to get your ears checked my guy
Lmao
Everyone: trying to make their keyboards sound THOCK
squashy: first I need to MAKE the keyboard
squashy boy video instantly makes my week better
As soon as I heard you start talking about bushes, I knew it was gonna be a manscaped ad lol
I'm actually working on a fully 3d printed keyboard right now, I've designed switches that fit in the Gateron optical boards so there's no need to solder. I'll print it when I finish because I have and FDM printer and a resin printer. Might make a video on it when it's done.
When
Squashy: Lemme 3d print a keyboard
Every single soul ever: No
Squashy: Ok so ima build a 3d printed keyboard
*squashy mentality*
The keyboard turned out really good nice job
I was gonna make a video about making a custom 3D printed keyboard but now I know I can never beat this I don't think I'll bother.
Awesome video. :P
Apart from doing it for the fun, I wouldn't recommend printing keycaps. I tried once for a self designed macro keyboard and got really rough finger tips after a few days. While my main keyboard is indeed 3D printed and hand-wired, I use a set of decent PBT caps. It just feels better and makes typing for enjoyable.
i agree on this
There's two alternatives: Print non-dished keycaps (weird) or spend the time sanding the dishes (time-intensive). If you don't like either of those options, that's totally fine, preference in keycaps can make or break one's experience, but I'm daily-driving printed PLA(=Plastic) keycaps and haven't had any issues with the two options I suggested. Again, not knocking your experience, I wouldn't use untreated keycaps like in the video for an extended period either.
@@LordHonkIncAfter I got my first set of PBT caps, I really liked the texture and weight. That's why I got a few more of those. Printing caps allows for "weird" or mere unusual profiles. I experimented with really high caps for hard to reach keys. So both attempts have their advantages. I also understand that meticilously sanding a bunch of caps is an achievement. Maybe I will give it another try some day. My keeb that has Kailh low profile switches could really use better caps.
There are already 3D printable keyboards, most notably SiCK-68, but that's just a 3D printed case+plate (they are 1 part) the switches, stabs, keycaps are all normal.
you can actually print decent switches, they're called void switches and are fully magnetic. you can even use them with hall effect sensors, to make analogic keys
I never thought a sponsor could be so good🤣😂
Squashy I don't know if you'll ever read this, but you're the only keyboard guy on youtube who is not making me cringe. Love your videos, love your humour, love your ideas!
and i love you too!

why does this actually soud good
Great video btw
The space bar on the 3D printed mechanical keyboard sounds very good to be honest compare to the not 3D printed one
You Know your a bigwig when you get sponsored by Manscaped.
It actually sounds really good!
okay, all jokes aside, i think the pla case, plate, and keycap combo sounds really nice and muted. it would be interesting to actually give it a proper try with normal tuned durock stabs. great video!
downloading a keyboard, pinnacle of engenuity.
2:29😁👍
i always love ur sponsor skits!
holy shit why do I like the sound test so much
keycaps are sick btw
When it sounds better than your own custom keyboard.😔
Try again with a resin printer, it’s way better for small parts.
(6:14) 'GMK Handwritten' instead of 'GMK Hennessey' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This reminds me of when I imagined GMK keycap sets with colourways based on picture books!
ur comedy levels are off the charts bro
love ur vids. keep up the great work
thanks man! feedback like these really help grow the channel
Can you mod a mouse to have mechanical keyboard switches?
You possibly can
First lol jk
2nd lol jk
This was funny af lmao that spacebar lived up to you channel name
Omg that sounds so good when tipping
The first time ever the sponsor advertising is as interesting as the actual video.
the only youtube sponser ad that i enjoyed and watch it and not skipped :p
Taking custom to a whole different level
Honestly, at most videos when a sponsored ad starts I would just skip it, but in Squashy's videos the ads are soo entertaining I just don't want to skip.
bro besides the scratchiness why is this so damn good
this guy puts more effort into JUST his sponsor sections than other youtubers put into their entire videos
excelent job! And you are funny. very entertaining!
that sponsor bit was firetrucking hilarious while also somehow good LMAO
sounds pretty good ngl
Wait wtf that space bar's sound is so cool

Love your videos
Now that's actually custom. I have a couple other DIY hobbies and compared to that keyboard building seems incredibly non DIY and just buy-swap no actual making. This is actually good and even sounded nice!
I think the usual foam, gaskets, switches and keycaos are fundamental enough to be bought. But even pcb design isn't too hard and if someone creates a good open source project I'm sure we will start seeing some insane features being built on top of it.
That is actually insane for 3D printed
Squashy is a goat, I emailed him and he replied like the homie he is. No cap, he emailed me back and never expected it. Love you even more squashy
