      WoF with Benny and his like was a major factor in the breakdown of my "Christian" marriage. I feel sorry for you Costi when you read the prophecies about false teachers and deceivers and realize that your beloved uncle is who God had in mind when he inspired that. It can hit you like a ton of bricks when you realize a loved one is obviously on a path to damnation.
      And I say beloved because he is beloved by God and his family. It takes a great man to do what your uncle does and so he is easily loved for those qualities, but unfortunately he has allowed greed and selfishness to triumph in his life. I once felt God's grief over Jim Jones would you believe.

    I really love that Mike and Costi act like they are best buds, and have a sincere brotherhood, even as Costi is a calvinist and cessationist, and Mike is a charismatic and non calvinist. This is true Christian Unity, agreeing on the most important things, agreeing to disagree on lesser things, and standing firm, shoulder to shoulder, against heresy and falsehood. I am so thankful for these two brothers.

    As a Nigerian, I can confidently state that Benny Hinn, Kenneth Hagin, and Kenneth Copland hold unmatched sway in Christian communities throughout Nigeria. Benny Hinn's teachings and writings have profoundly influenced the theology of many churches here, spanning Catholic, Anglican, and Baptist denominations. Currently, there is a dedicated initiative to raise awareness about the doctrinal issues linked to Benny Hinn, Kenneth Hagin, and Kenneth Copland in Nigeria. I am grateful to Mike Winger and Costi Hinn for bringing this matter to light. I hope that your efforts will bring enough Nigerians and Africans to recognize and turn away from these false theology and doctrine.

    Unrelated but related... In July 2023, I attended a conference in KY that Cultish participated in through teaching. I was a very emotionally damaged skeptic from being raised and abused in a cult like church. Found some healing by making friends with others who had similar experiences and I'm still in contact with them. One of the people/resources mentioned was Mike Wenger and I'm 99.9% sure that Cultish made the reference as a safe/good resource. I started listening to Mike whose YT videos helped answer a number of my questions.
    I still have a lot of healing and a long way to go, but I became a professing Christian on October 31, 2023. I'm so grateful for the work you are all doing... you ARE making a difference! You are all part of God's work of healing the brokenhearted and binding up their wounds - helping church trauma victims by acknowledging the abuse (and providing next steps for recovery) is so critical. Thank you for your labor of love and for ultimately pointing people to Christ and what holy leadership looks like in action.

    When I first came to know the Lord, it was in a "non-denominational" church that loved Benny Hinn. As a baby Christian I trusted my pastor and thought Binny was great. It was when my dad (who was always a Christian) freaked out and had me watch American Gospel that I started to see. When I brought my concerns to my pastor, he told me I was being sinful by not having faith and that American Gospel was baptist propaganda. I left that church shortly after and have never gone back. I'm so thankful for God's guidance to apologetics and the Truth of the gospel

    • @Michael_Chandler_Keaton
      @Michael_Chandler_Keaton 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@ohifonlyx33Yeah, from the denominations; you're welcome. Men from denominations died so that we might have the Bible and be guided by it. Denominations are formed because good Christians disagree about doctrines that don't have the same level of clarity as the central tenets of the faith. The denominations exist because of much Biblical labor.

    • @ohifonlyx33
      @ohifonlyx33 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@Michael_Chandler_Keaton i didn't say i am opposed to denominations. I work at a Lutheran school for Pete's sake. You don't need to get all snippy. I'm very aware of history. Aware enough to realize that tradition and good intentions can become corrupted. I value a lot of traditions, but I hold to God's word FIRST. But I don't have any problem if a church has a denomination. Affliation and identification are good reasons to have a denomination. That's why I said that literally the ONLY reason I'm technically/barely nondenominational is because of 1 human issue. That doesn't mean i don't appreciate the ongoing work of saints. So maybe chill. I wasn't being hostile. If anything, I was pointing out one of the downsides of being nondenom and saying please don't think all nondenom are as bad as that one.

    I first saw Benny on TV as a new teenage Christian almost 30 years ago. I would watch him pretty regular on TBN. I was discipled in a Biblically based solid church and I was reading my Bible all the time. So that helped me grow in my faith in a healthy way. I wish I could go back and watch him, I really don't remember him saying you will be blessed as a result of giving him money. I was a baby Christian so its likely I missed it. I also attended one of the arena meetings talked about. I remember him taking up only one offering and again my memory was he said "this is for the gospel" and also he talked about some charity he founded that he gives part of the money too. I would have been one of those who said he started out good and went off. I had no idea how nefarious he has been for soooo long. I gave up on defending him or following him about a decade a go, due to his extravagant lifestyle, that has been reinforced in my mind by listening to Costi on For the Gospel. But again I had no idea how bad it was and how deep his influence is. Thank you Mike for your work and thank you cultish for bringing this to the light.

I wondered if we had been at the same meeting. I just thought Benny Hinn had worked his magic on my friend. I was used to the Lord doing quite a few miraculous things in my life and in others, so I actually thought Benny Hinn was doing real healings. I didn't know about the money side of it, until years later when I heard about his lavish lifestyle. Healed in spite of Benny’s errors…the LORD responds to an individual’s sincere humble faith and request …even a mustard seed sized faith is honored… a faith that can move mountains…Benny just happened to be a bystander “tool” God used to set up an opportunity for that person’s faith to come forth…and God answered, “I will deliver you”. But the sinful manipulation and monetizing of the Gospel ministry is where BH struggled…and of course listening to deceiving spirits for false concepts like 9 in the Godhead…some like the late Michael Heiser and the author of “Birthright”, Timothy Alberino, have speculated about the “divine counsel” idea based on the 7 spirits before the throne and other verses… (Revelation) …sometimes our sanctified imagination ventures into areas that are unnecessary and really don’t serve the purpose of pursuing souls with the glorious gospel in the great commission.

However, a false Gospel, I haven't heard him preach anything false in a while, but again, that's based on my relationship with the Lord and my own cross referencing when he teaches. Thank you guys for this. I was in the WOF movement for a long time. I remember being at Christ For The Nations Institute back in the early 90s. Mr Hinn spoke at several evening services that as students we were all required to attend. I made sure I sat as far away from the stage as possible and stayed for only the minimum time required and left ASAP. For the 2 hours that I sat there, all he did was talk about money. He literally gave me the creeps. Of course I would never say anything but even back then, I was aware that something was wrong with the whole movement. Finally got out in 2003. PTL!!

    I'm from South Africa & have always been aware of other African cultures (who would mostly call themselves christians) be into things that aren't biblical. But I always assumed it had more to do with their culture beliefs & not religion beliefs. I would have never thought that Benny had that much influence on them if I didn't see Mike's video. I was shocked as many South Africans don't even know who Benny is. I think more people should be made aware of this. I work with people from different cultures every day and having knowledge on this would help a lot with our relationships with people who believe in these teachings.

      That was very humble for you to share and apologize. The LORD is your shepherd and He is teaching you. God is helping us to truly love our neighbor. "Let love be without deceit. Be haters of what is evil; keep your minds fixed on what is good." Romans 12:9 Love takes courage, love is wise, is not self seeking, love warns, love tells the truth. What "Christianity" has been doing is not not love or wise. We've been "trained" in such a crooked manner. Sounds like your path is being made straight:) "And the LORD make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you"
      1 Thessalonians 3:12
      "The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved."

It was his dream about seeing multitudes following the person in front of them and not seeing what was ahead. As the multitude pressed, the people in front were falling off the cliff into Hell. (How prophetic!) Then I attended a huge crusade in Jacksonville, Fla. It was certainly a show and something felt very wrong about it so my friend and I went outside and sat on the ground and listened outside. Interest lessened greatly afterwards. I can see it clearly now. Thank you for TRUTH. I pray he fully repents also.

    Thank yall so much. Good job, Mike. Also, as Costi touched on, Hank Hanegraaff's book, "Christianity in Crisis" is still very relevant today and one of the most well done exposés on the "Word of Faith Movement" you can get in my opinion.
    And as Costi said, these are from Hank's pre-Eastern Orthodox move which, by the way, I am still shocked and confused about. But I recommend that book because, as Mike has done in his videos, Hank also let's them speak for themselves throughout the book. You can see word for word the heresies preachers like Hinn, Copeland and many others teach from their own books and preaching. So they really tell on themselves.

I had a series of tangible encounters with God which moved me deeply (and still continue to experience God tangibly to this day) and have benefited greatly from environments like Bethel and Toronto. Yet I agree with many of the criticisms of the Charismatic church, and agree with this video about Benny Hinn. Reformed folk think I'm too Charismatic as I physically manifest and use Spiritual Gifts. Charismatics think I'm too skeptical for rejecting false Charismatic movements such as ihop, benny hinn etc. Many churches claim to be 'word and spirit', but few actually are. Why is it so unusual to have verse-by-verse Bible teaching + experiential faith + correct teaching on grace??
