Today I'm going shopping at our favorite stores - Crate and Barrel, IKEA, and HomeGoods! I say ours, because in my head, you and I are bffs. I'm gonna tell you what's hot and what's not and at the end, I'll share a haul of what I picked up!!!!

If you need a white wine to cook with, use dry vermouth. It lasts for a very long time and the flavor is always the same. I buy mine at Trader Joe’s. Since I’m not a white wine drinker I hate to spend money on a bottle that will go to waste. Dry Vermouth is the answer.
We have been doing this in our house for years.
Good advice, since I hate drinking dry wine, and sometimes some half dry.

I refer to those as the Sephora boxes! Yes, Kiva, wine with a meal just elevates the entire experience. The simplest salad tastes so much better with a glass of wine. I had Pinot Noir with pizza one day and it was amazing!

I have been wanting to put lol the paper and things my husband has all over our peninsula. But he said no. He wouldn’t know where his stuff in. He takes up half the peninsula. And I would love to use it for what it’s supposed to be used for. It’s not his desk. We have a desk in the office.and I have a table with a bunch in our bedroom I offered to give him to keep his crap in. He didn’t want that either. He just wants to make my life miserable because I have to look at all his crap. I bought a nice riser from Kirkland’s.I would love to put on the peninsula and put some kind of flowers or something on it. I guess, I’m going to revisit that with him.

The glasses Olivia Pope used on Scandal are the Camille glasses from Crate & Barrel. They have a longer stem. There are lots of memes with her drinking out of them. I love the Tour and Hip glasses from Crate too.

Hi Keva, another Crate & Barrel wine glass that was pivotal during the "Scandal" years is the "Camille" red wine glass at $14.95 per stem...yikes! They are also very fragile. Also, I think wine is good for at least 5 days after opening. As you probably know, you can also purchase cooking wine which I think lasts a lot longer, like maybe 9mons to 1 year. Yep, I have found that Home Goods has been slipping lately and not giving much in the home decor space in my opinion. Although, every once in a while I see something there that will catch my eye. I have a chronic illness that makes it really difficult to do shopping trips so I love, love, love these shopping videos.
I am doing the same thing …being more mindful and intentional with my purchases. It has saved me money and time spent (for future decluttering)
I liked the gold mirror at Home Goods. I was glad to hear you mention the lack of new pillow covers at IKEA; I’ve noticed that as well. I especially miss their selection of lumbar pillows.

Kiva, I know what you mean about the wear and tear of some of the furniture at
Crate and Barrel but there is one exception that my daughter and I can both attest to: the lounge sofa. She has the sofa with the chase and I have the two cushioned sofa. It comes with performance fabric and my daughter has a dog, two cats, a 6’3 husband and twin boys and there has been everything on that sofa over the past 5 years and it still looks and feels amazing!! I love mine too!! It is affordable as well. Especially with trade discounts and using their credit card during double rewards points 😉

All of the merch in the large stores comes from overseas. Here's a shout-out to local craftspeople and artisans who create truly unique products and who make our cities and towns just that much better with their workshops, markets and artistic presence. They need our support. Can you make prints of your grandmother's artwork to post and sell? She'd probably say something like "No one's going to want my artwork" and I suspect she would be wrong.

I went to HomeGoods today, and I could easily have spent a few grand! They had some awesome chairs, a really interesting square coffee table from India, and some wonderful lamps! I need two chairs and two lamps, but I’m waiting until after my paint job is over! I’m also hesitant to buy those 2 $600 chairs there, never having considered making such an expensive choice in a chain that is known for inventing its comparison prices. I did love those chairs, though! Sadly, my taste in decor is very different from my husband’s, so I can rarely be so impulsive. Did I mention I drive a puny Corolla, with no room for furniture?

This was so much fun. I'm east of Pitts in New Kensington. Bought a house and moved here from Indiana,PA. I have found so many things for my house in Home Goods. Mostly smaller furniture pieces. I love the solid wood items with wonderful grain patterns. If I find something I love, I buy it. Because if I don't and go back for it later, it's gone. Our design styles are very different, but I love your channel.
*HomeGoods* . I scored a 48x38 art piece for $65 at HG. I was also seeing a lot of "Tuscan" pieces there...please let that style die.
Maybe you could help your grandmother get her artwork out because you have a huge following. If her work is like that painting you showed, I'd absolutely buy it! I'd rather artwork directly from an artist than a store.

I got self sticky hooks at dollar tree 3 years ago put them in my shower not where water hits on them and they are still stuck tight. I have used IKEA towels for years I like it that they dry u instead of just rolling the water around on ur body.

IKEA has some great hooks for in the shower. They have strong adhesive so they stay in place and they look nice as well. I am looking for some affordable bath sheet. I’m going to give the IKEA waffle bath sheets a try. Thank you! I love your posts!!!!

Hi KB. You can get the Olivia Pope wine glass at Crate and Barrel. They are beautiful. I purchased one for myself and some of my Scandal watching friends. Be aware they are very tall and fragile.

SAME! I have to buy beer to cook with from time to time. Every time I pick up a bottle of beer for a recipe, I always try to taste it first before dumping it into the pot, to see if I have "acquired" the taste for beer yet. Nope, it still tastes disgusting 😂

I cringed when I saw Crate & Barrel! Agree with you in general about the art, lighting, etc. But I have bought a upholstered bed and a sofa and the quality of their furniture is not good. They had to come fix my bed twice and ultimately replace it. And believe me, I am a very reasonable person so it actually was pretty bad. 😢

Hey girl pls help me out with my design concept. I am really in love with beige and sand tones, and wanted to have a nice beige stone coffee table… my partner says the dining table should be dark wood and not more stone. The nightstands are also marble rectangles. What do you think is there such thing as too much stone? Or with the sand tones for the couch should I go for a more dark brown wood. Help!
