I'm currently reading "Unto The Altar" by John Tiggs. It's about this girl, Adriana, who lost her parents in a car crash and she went into a severe depression and went to a psychiatrist who helped her cope with her loss, and recommended this island resort that is in a castle with literally no electricity or any accommodations that he is going to, and she wants to go as well. They go to the island and she makes herself at home and everyone else there is super young and very attractive, and Adriana feels intrigued yet creeped out by them, and she soon realizes that something is terribly wrong with the people and she finds out that she was brought there intentionally and they want her to join them . . . Super great read! Published in 1985.
I didn't know dark harvest was being made into a movie. I read this last year, and it was a fun read! I've had that Malfi book on my shelf but haven't read it..thanks for the push! I think I'm going to check out those pumpkin spice books next month. great list!
I am currently halfway through Maeve Fly, and I am absolutely loving it! Thank you so much for the recommendation as this book was not on my radar at all. I love the references to Story of the Eye, American Psycho and Disneyland as I love all three of those things. I am visiting Portland, so I pulled up some of your videos as I am about to pop into Powell’s and get some new books lol (I found out C.J leede just did an author discussion at Powell’s a week ago 😢).
your cozy murder books about a baker sound very similar to a series my mom introduced me to where a baker who owns her own shop has a knack for finding dead bodies then taking it upon herself to solve the murder as she feels personally involved by finding the body. they are always titled after a food, and even includes recipes for the food mentioned in the title. they are written by Joanne Fluke, if you're interested! main difference I can think of is that there's no magic involved in the stories.
In England we get ‘fall’ weather for 3 of 4 seasons 😅 This is obviously an exaggeration, but I can’t imagine living somewhere without frost in autumn. Having said that. I can’t really imagine living somewhere particularly warm 😅
Anda! I love your recommendations! I picked up "Black Mouth" by Ronald Malfi based on your suggestion. I'm only a couple chapters in but I'm already a big fan of his writing. I have a feeling I will definitely be picking up "Come With Me".
Great recommendations! Anda I am putting Come With Me straight to my tbr, I have not read any Ronald Malfi yet. I'm looking forward to reading Maeve Fly after having read American Psycho recently. I'm just finishing off The Black Farm by Elias Witherow, brutal but so compelling.
Already saved all of them on goodreads 😎👍 this october im planning to read Misery, The shinning (a friend gave me those and i had only read Carrie so i wanna get into more S.K.), a book of vampire stories and frankenstein. I'll be having a feast 🎃
Recommending "Cutie Pies And Deadly Lies" whilst wearing a "we are going to eat you" zombie t-shirt! It's true what they say...variety really IS the spice of life!
I think a great Halloween season read is a lesser know one because the writer didn't really write much horror but it is A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER by Roger Zelazney (its very light on the actual horror elements even tho it uses famous horror icons as characters) its just super fun and the main character is A DOG
Hi Anda, do you also read from self-published authors? I wrote a survival horror and would love to send you a copy. Would be interesting to hear your opinion on it. Thank you, kind regards, Karl.
Hello, Karl! I do read books that are sent to me. However, I currently have a ton of books to get through. I also recently moved so I don't have a PO Box at the moment. If you keep up with my channel, I'll let everyone know when I'll be accepting more books. It probably won't be until next year sometime.
Dunno whether this is a win but i took your recommendation on Dead Inside and Maeve Fly aaaand... got drunk and recommended them to a coworker. #reputationRIP
@AndaKent it also didn't help that one of the book reviewers on RUclips sort of spoiled it when they were giving their "spoiler free" review.😂 I haven't read any Ronald Malfi books but I definitely have at least 2 of his books on my wishlist.

I’ve loved your recommendation videos, I’ve always come away with one that works for me. Just finished Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi, and loved it!
5:43 I always love when my namesake gets a shoutout. It's such a great book. Tragic and beautiful and uneasy

Love love that journal you have in the background. I have one from the same artist if you got it from where I think you did off etsy ❤
So very cool setting at the end!! Loved the decor and lighting 😱😈🧟♀️🧟♂️🧛♂️🎃🎃

In Scotland we get it 3 and a half seasons of 4 seasons...🤣
Hey Anda! That would be so cool if you can do videos on your books recommendations for Halloween and your bookshelf tour...
Great video as always:)
Pretty sure our nails match lol also jealous of how you can grab the trade paperbacks cross the back like that. My hands are too small.
Carmilla is on my list for this month! ❤ I'm so happy that I found your channel 😊

I'm reading Black mouth too! About 100 pages in, love it!
i ADORED MAEVE FLY....up until that ending SIGH but still the rest of it was so great

I loved Home Before Dark! It was actually creepy and had a couple of scenes that got me checking the room. 😱😂
Same!!! Riley is quickly becoming a fave author!

I read Maeve Fly a couple weeks ago and loved it. I checked out Dark Harvest from my library in audiobook format just now, hope it's good!
I commented for this fall book recs in one of your last videos …and here it is❤❤❤❤
You sold Maeve Fly to me by mentioning Chuck Palahniuk, will definitely give it a read.
That phone alarm made me cringe Anda 🤣
The Murder in the Mix series you mentioned at the end. Can those be read as stand-alone or in order?
Recommending "Cutie Pies And Deadly Lies" whilst wearing a "we are going to eat you" zombie t-shirt! It's true what they say...variety really IS the spice of life!
You might try Where the spirit leads, haunting stories and poems.
Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist! Much more messed up (in a good way) than the films
I'm so glad you enjoyed Salem's Lot!! 😁 👏👏👏

Oh interesting. Is it sci fi? I have one or two of his books but I haven't read them yet.
@@AndaKent it’s more period piece fantasy with a soupçon of cosmic horror
Salem's Lot is on my 2023 lost. I hope i can read it somewhere this month
I read guest list for my mystery book club and it is a great book.
On the cute side of the spectrum I recommend the Bunnicula books
Yeah for Dark Harvest! Such a fun read.
Ahh a fellow horror writer? Subscribed
October over here is 100 degrees we have hot and super hot lol
I guess I shouldn't complain then. haha
Tee shirt is awesome 🎉
I’m in NorCal and it’s going to be 90 here tomorrow…. 😭 I’M SICK OF IT

@@AndaKent no worries, thank you for getting back to me. Best of luck with everything
Thank you 😊
If you liked Suffer The Children, you may like Handling The Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist(author of Let The right One In). Unique sad zombie novel.
Oh awesome. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll definitely check this one out.
It's understated for sure, and often more sad than scary, but I thought it was cool. @@AndaKent
Fulci Zombie 2 ❤
Dunno whether this is a win but i took your recommendation on Dead Inside and Maeve Fly aaaand... got drunk and recommended them to a coworker. #reputationRIP
i loved Maeve Fly it was a wild ride!
I watched the movie Salem's Lot when it first came out it was creepy has hell.
Cool
"okay" xD
❤
I feel like I'm the only one who didn't like Home Before Dark. I think I set my expectations too high.😕
That honestly might be why I've enjoyed his books so much. I had no idea what any of them were about when I went into them.
@AndaKent it also didn't help that one of the book reviewers on RUclips sort of spoiled it when they were giving their "spoiler free" review.😂

Discovered your channel not too long ago. Are you still doing the podcast?
I’m reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy! Challenging read and very violent.
