You really need to stick a block of wood between the axle and breeze blocks. The breeze blocks could crack with the metal axle resting on them. The wood will absorb the shock and will allow the frame to settle evenly.
This is good advise which we did not know about so thanks for sharing. I put a little 10mm sliver of oak and some roofing felt between the axle and the blocks to get true level. How much of a piece of wood do you recommend?
that is spot on advice, I have put several of these up over the years and seen where they did not do that and cracked the concrete blocks.
I agree 100%
@@CampOutWest if you can get them, get scaffold sole boards. They are about 2 inches thick. And about the size of a breeze block. And pretty much designed for this type of work. They are cheap as well. Less than a fiver each last time I bought them.
Putting the wood between the axle and b blocks will help prevent cracking, about 2.5 inches. You'll learn as you go,but the most important thing is to NEVER GIVE UP OK.XO
Just a note on the timber stack - if you’re leaving it there for any length of time. Strap it up to itself. I.e wrap some straps around them. It will help prevent them warping. 👍👍.
I haven't commented before but been following your journey. Have to say been loving it esp as living in South Wales and looking for a Small holding in West Wales. This really appealed to me guys. You have done so much work with the strip down and now getting the first structure on the build must be so satisfying. Totally made up for you both. #livingthedream
Thank you for commenting, yes South Wales is the place to be 🙌 Where have you been looking at for small holdings? They've become harder and harder to find since covid. Still some lovely spots in East Carmarthenshire most people don't know about if not from the area, we still love seeing what comes up on the market for sale and get so many ideas.
Mainly Camarthern st. davids, haverford, and up towards cardigan@@CampOutWest
@@simplifygardeningThat whole area is beautiful, its st davids we show in this video in the drone ad, we also got married in cardigan, love it there. Good luck with the search
Really warms the heart to see how great of a team you two are together throughout this entire process.
Thank you Kevin 🥰 Maggie is the best team manager!
The beauty of doing something from scratch, you can do it to your specs and you'll know where everything is.
It has been fascinating to watch how you both cleared the land recycling everything and remaking everything from new! You both have worked so hard and diligently to Create something Beautiful! The end result I know will be Amazing!! 👏👏👏👏👏💗💗💗.
Thank you so much Ava 💗 feels so surreal to be at this stage now! Can't believe it 🥰
@@CampOutWest you both have worked so hard to get to here!! Realising one’s dreams and making them a reality…👍👍👍👍👏👏
I’m glad that delivery driver decided to help you. I thought he was just going to stand there and watch. I love seeing all your progress. Merry Christmas!
The guy was lovely, the company he works for could not have been more helpful if i'm honest, really glad to have found them, small family owned firm.
I thought the same then the driver started to double portion the timber when moving. Must of been near home time 🤣🤣
@@MatthewPye-en5nu Noticed that as well. He wanted a flyer!
He wasn't just standing there. The camera angle doesn't show it well, but he rolled up his straps and put them away, prepping everything so he can just leave when the unloading was done, and not waste time with it afterwards.
My wish for you both this Christmas, is the gift of continued good health.
Your efforts, dedication in such poor weather conditions, and all the other sacrifices you make, that we do not see on camera, deserve this wish to come true.💖
Thank you so much 🥰 we wish the same to you! Good health and happiness 💖 thank you so much for your support xxx
Tools are always a good investment. I have always told my husband buy a good tool first off, by the time you buy a lot of el cheepo's you might as well as bought a good one first off.
This is going to look amazing, huge respect for you both working in the elements.
Maggie had the right idea staying inside all cosy & warm once the rain set in 🤣
@@CampOutWest I did think that we didn't see Maggie in this one! 🙂
Its so exciting to see the walls finally going on your cabin! Also it's really heartwarming to hear how much money was raised by your community to help fund your project :) Really wish I could have come as well but I've been really sick with a bronchitis based chest infection the last few weeks.
I hope you all have a wonderful christmas and cannot wait to see how your land devlops further next year :) Really happy I discovered this wonderful community, you both are amazing people 😊
Hope you feel better soon, had bronchitis last year and it lasted all winter, it was exhausting.
Sorry to hear you've been ill Josh, We hope you recover well and you get to enjoy Christmas 😊 thanks so much for the support 🥰
Wrap the stub axles with Denso tape to stop them rusting.😊
Definitely!
Thanks for the suggestion :) we will look into it! Thanks
Oregon here in the states where I live is known for it's rain, but I think you all have us beat hands down! lol
lol yep the brits get a lot of rain.Fancy a swap
Dan, we do get an unfair amount of rain up here 😂 We both love the idea of visiting Oregon, looks like just a beautiful state.
Wow this is coming along great. So exciting for you. Loving seeing it all come together after all your hard work during the preporation.
Awww you two are very sweet 🥰
🥰🥰
Great video. Love the background music - great editing appreciate the work (and time) that goes into this. Dave Birmingham
Removing the tires was a good idea for weathering purposes, but make sure you either cover or lube the hub so it doesn’t rust if you ever have to put them back on.
Thanks for the tip Jordan! 😃
There will be a lot of stress on them breezeblocks when you have the full house up. I will put some steel sheets under the axles on top of the breezeblocks to spread the weight.
I think i need to rethink the old breeze blocks Paul. Had a few comments suggesting they're gonna crack and that sounds like a right mess to me. Looking online now at some steel adjustable axle stands with a 7000kg payload each, 4 of them should be a better option and easier to level the axle horizontally. One step forward and two steps back 😂 All i can say is thank you, and thank god for the comments section and all the advise.
13:53 Awww .. Maggie-paws! ❤ 😊 🐶
Yay, someone noticed. 😃
Sadly, having lost our Chow Chow Max in October, we will, not have any of our own paw prints. Thanks for sharing yours! ❤😊
It’s great seeing the progress you’re both making. Team work makes the dram work ❤❤❤
Feel very lucky to get to do it all together 🙂
Aswell as a block of wood between the axle & concrete blocks...cut an old tyre in 4 and place between axle & block of wood resting on concrete blocks guys...
Thanks for the suggestion Kevin
Your videos are so wonderful. Thank you!
Thank you Jeanne ☺
Wonderful watching you both .😊
Thank you so much for watching 😃
If you need to cut many parts of the same length, measure once, then mount support and stopper at the end of the first timber. Then just push the timber to the stopper, and cut. You will get the same length every time. Templates help to make repetitive tasks faster.
Hi, get the scaffold guys in to put up a roof cover over you for your work this winter, cheers rich.
Thanks Rich! Jon has been looking at scaffolding on Facebook marketplace actually! good idea :)
As I was watching I literally thought "Wonder how the pop up went?" and you answered it less than 10 seconds later. I am SO thrilled it was a success. Fabulous progress! Merry Christmas to you both.
Great video ive binged watched them all and im so impressed with how far yous have gotten and how your not afraid to get your hands dirty during the horrible weather :D
Love seeing your updates, progress & Miss Maggie! You guys are amazing 👏
Thanks Claire 🥰 have a lovely Christmas xx
Well done guys.
Thanks Ridley! 😊
Kudos to you guys working in cold, damp & muddy weather!
Thanks Andrea
It’s great to see all the changes and progress happening on the land and with your tiny house
Love this
Hi see on your chopsaw run it back and forth a couple times cuttingnthrough the heavy timbers instead of doing it in 1 pass less strain on the saw and your blade will last alot longer
Thanks for the heads up Ethan :)
Yes all looks good guys plenty of progress and that's great news on the wood from your meet up i shall meet you some time next year when nearby ! Great vlog as usual ! Little john from chichester
Cheers LJ! We hope you have a great Christmas 🙂
Another fabulous job. I just love the care you are taking with all your different jobs. Your tiny home will be a palace.
We will call it Maggie's palace 🥰
You guys are a great source of inspiration for anything in life
Thank you for the support 🥰
Really wanted to see how you attach the walls to the base…..???? Next time?😅 Blessed Yule and Happy Christmas to you both xxx
I can't wait for you guys to start hanging the walls! Joyful shout. Bravo for persevering in the rain; that must be quite the task 🁧𠁢𠁯𠁨𠁳𠁿

So pleased to see how far you have come in your amazing journey, I love that you share it with us and we get to see how you are getting on, that little drone looks fab and so easy and compact I think maybe even I would have a go using that 1, wishing you all the festive cheer and a happy healthy and prosperous New year
Big kiss for maggie xx
Hi, thanks for showing us. Fantastic progress. The time flies by watching what you are doing. Love it. Well done.
Thanks so much Colleen 🥰 I can't believe after 1 year and 7 months on the land we are finally building!
Looking good!! 🧡
Thanks Polly! Can't believe we are on the walls! 😊
I would take a picture of the piece of wood that has Maggie's paw prints to create a picture to hang in the new Caravan. It's like Maggie's paw stamp of approval ❤❤
Oh I love that! 🥰 I love when we see her prints everywhere!
Progress 🎉 looking great ❤
Thanks Kay! 😃 Really feel like we are getting somewhere now!
Hi Jon & Emilie, wishing you a Happy New Year, and best wishes for every success in 2024 with your continued house build and wider site development. Waiting now to see those walls going up, if we ever get some dry weather. Paul 👏👏👍👍
Superb work folks, really superb.

Maggie had the right idea all cosy and warm in the caravan 🥰🥰🥰
Progress! Exciting!👍🇨🇦🙂🎁🌲🎅
Can't believe we are on the walls!!! 😊
Nice😊
Don't forget to add noggings in the stud frame. I think it's clever to build the second wall using the frame of the other wall as a guide.
Thanks Daisy 🥰 Noggins will be next on our to do once we've done the window framing
I have nothing but admiration for the both of you. Wishing you a very happy Xmas and can't wait to see more. Congratulations on the hard work making your dream come true, you two are awesome 😊

Great video thank for sharing.Keep up the great work both and looking forward to your next video 👍
Thanks so much Garry! 😃
Don't forget to protect the shaft end's of the trailer against corrosion. You can use Denso tape, available in UK, for protection.
Thanks for the suggestion :) we've got some caps to add too!
Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed 😊

Hi guys, I've been watching your vlog for about 6 months. I look forward to watching it every time you upload!! Jonathan, I remember you saying that you aren't a builder? Well, I've been a tradesman for 25 years, and I am completely impressed with your skills and your approach to jobs and situations. I would employ you no problem mate 👍 and you also have a fantastic labourer ❤❤
Cheers Chris, i'm just a wedding photographer, did a little bit of wood work at school and then it's just having a go at things and learning as we go, i find having better tools makes a big difference too, learning lots doing this project.
Happy Christmas from The Cotswolds xx
Thanks Sarah! We hope you feel better and get to enjoy your Christmas too! xx

Thanks so much Tony! We hope you had a great Christmas too 😄 xx
Good team work guys
Thanks Richard 👌
Love the videos
Just now long enough - I love watching you guys!
Thanks so much Emma! 🥰
How exciting to see walls going up. When I saw the muddy Maggie pawprint on one of the pieces of timber it gave me an idea. Perhaps when you do another cement pour you could put a paw print and a hand print of each of you in it ... for prosterity. Cheers from Oz
Love that idea Carol! Maggie is our whole world so I love any and every way we can make her apart of it here 😊
Exciting that the first wall is going up!
Really doesn't feel real!
Nice new collection of tools! Glad to see your channel growing so quickly!
really glad we finally made the investment!
I was literally waiting for your video ❤️❤️and then I received notification
Hope you enjoyed ❤
I'm so impressed with what you're achieving. And i really enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for the support Jan! 😃
Wooo hooo a wall. Great to see you both smiling and laughing.
Thanks Ana 😄
You guys are doing so well, thank you for sharing, I look forward to every video. I wish I could send some of our sunshine. Merry Christmas.🇦🇺
Thanks so much Shirley! My brother (Emilie's brother) lives in Melbourne and we regularly envy his sunshine 🤣 looks like some dryer days are coming soon so thanks for arranging that for us 🥰
Great video. So glad you are getting your home started. It looks amazing great job and I love your new saw and drone. You definitely needed them both. I wont to buy a drone and I love the one you have now. Its absolutely perfect. ❤
Thanks Debra! We feel so lucky Hover sent us one ❤ We hope you have a lovely Christmas!
Your new saw is awesome. What a great investment. Loving the progress you guys are making despite the crappy weather. Keep at it. My favourite phase to keep me doing something that seems an unachievable massive task 'little and often, little and often.' Happy Christmas - Nadolig Llawen (gonna be brave and hope I've remembered that without looking it up haha).
The new saw is much more accurate and made the wall alot straighter than if i'd done it with the hand circular saw for sure. Nadolig llawen to you too and thankyou for taking the time to leave such a nice comment. ☺
This is gonna be so worth it in the end
This is the motivation we need, thanks 🙌
Greetings from Kansas. Amazing journey. Really enjoy watching this channel.
Thanks so much Perry! We hope to visit Kansas one day! 🥰
Well done and lovely meeting you at the Christmas Fair. Deenna xx
Thanks Deena 🥰🥰 Hope you have a lovely Christmas too! xx
