    So fun to see your walls go up! You might want to reconsider not having a window in the kitchen area. I’ve remodeled 3 homes now (by myself) and got complaints about the only kitchen that didn’t have a window over the sink. It feels a little claustrophobic when washing dishes or vegetables. Any steam from hot water goes in your face. It doesn’t have to be large window, but it does need to open. Just a suggestion. Can’t wait to see your next video.

    Brilliant work as always guys, you are really getting there with it!!! I would make a small suggestion in not having the TV opposite that window though, 2 reasons… firstly your views are amazing and therefore sitting and looking out the window will be the best thing ever, also the window will glare on the screen anyway and make it hard to watch xx also means you can sit and watch the log burner which is waaaay better than a tv ❤

      Thanks for the comment, we hadn't thought about glare, such a good point. Originally that window was for the kitchen and we changed our design. We tried to order more of the same windows but there was a 4 month wait otherwise we would have added way more. All a learning curve 😄 xx

    You're doing so well you guys. A little bit of advice though if you don't mind. Noggins should be staggered for extra strength. By staggering noggins, the load-bearing capacity of the wall increases significantly. Forces exerted on the wall are effectively distributed throughout multiple noggins, reducing stress concentrations and enhancing overall strength. Staggered noggins create additional voids within the wall structure. These voids can be filled with insulation material, improving the wall’s soundproofing and thermal performance by reducing heat transfer and noise transmission. One of the primary benefits of staggering noggins is the enhancement of lateral stability within timber frame walls. By distributing loads evenly, noggins help counteract the lateral forces that act on the wall, such as wind or seismic forces. This lateral stability is crucial for resisting structural deformations, ensuring the longevity of the wall, and reducing the risk of failure during extreme weather conditions.

    • @jillpackard5305
      @jillpackard5305 4 месяца назад

    • @CampOutWest
      @CampOutWest  4 месяца назад +4

      Thank you for taking the time to share feedback 😃 the noggins are staggered on all walls apart from the last wall Jon did, he did 3 all at the same level by mistake 😅 the dark/tiredness got him. I wonder if ours aren't staggered enough going off your advice? Thanks for sharing xx

      Josh, Happy New Year ❤ We are so pleased we decided to film this journey, it's amazing looking back at the earlier videos and seeing how much the land has changed from them to now. It's not something we've spoken about in our videos before but we both struggle with our mental health a lot too, we find it comes in waves. Just know you you are not alone ❤ somedays we have days where it gets to much and we end up staying in bed all day and that's ok, we take it day by day and on days when our brain tells us 'no' or we 'can't' do something we try are best to challenge those thoughts and we always end up surprising ourselves and remembering that we are more 'capable' than we ever thought. So next time the grey clouds come, just remember us cheering you on! You got this 🎉 We hope you know how amazing you are! Emilie, Jon & Maggie xxx

Having the TV opposite that large window will throw light onto the TV causing you to close any window coverings and you will have your backs to the beautiful view. Could you put the TV on the window wall in between the window and the door with a TV bracket to angle the TV. The sofa could then go opposite the window to enjoy the views/ sunsets etc. Just an idea. Thanks you 🎉 Really feel like we are getting somewhere now. So the window we are using in the living area was actually bought and measured for the kitchen space originally. We ordered the windows a year ago when they were in the Black Friday sale and it's only now we are building we are wishing we ordered slightly different windows. As we have the big 2mx2m window by the bed we didn't think we needed a window in the living area but then a few weeks ago we thought the front of the cabin would look weird without a window at the front, so decided to move the kitchen window and use it in the living area 😅 in a dream world we would have bought an additional window but they had a 3-4 month wait and the delivery was £500 alone 😅 so decided to make do with what we had already. We have talked about adding a skylight above the kitchen, but we will also have the front door opposite which is all glass 😊

    Just watched your latest video. See you working so hard . Don't know if you remember some time ago I mentioned to you a channel called Ship Happens? Where Gemma and Simon are restoring a WW2 ship. Well!! Just an idea!. They have patreons helping them out sometimes and make a day of it. Have you ever thought of doing something like that? Not me sad to say! Too old and knackered that's me. Lol. Worth a thought though. Maybe?

    i too would favour an apex roof. if you're going the self build route, set up a jig and production line so that all the angles are cut at the same time and are consistent, and then using the jig nail it all together using truss plates. wishing you both all the best, good luck and keep up the hard work, love your videos 🥰

    I love your dog. We have always had poodles. One runty toy black poodle thought she was a giant wolf hound and stalked our chickens relentlessly just like your dog. For two hours a day she ran round and round their run. It got to the stage where the chickens would climb on top of their coup to get a better view of her running around… poodle tv. They would run with her around clucking and squawking. It was very entertaining. I love having pets.😊

    Guys this is absolutely amazing project and you are the master.
    About the roof, I would recommend GRP roofing .
    It is very good and very light , long lasting with beautiful finish around the cabin.
    Can’t wait to see the end result.
    Thanks for sharing and all the best.

      Thanks for the suggestion, have you got any links to that type of roof? all i can see is the grp cllear roofing sheets? is that what you mean or do they do dark/opaque sheets too? we were just thinking of black corrugated steel roofing

    I love the slightly awkward intros, not sure what do with your hands, standing in front of the camera, one trick to feel and look more natural is to always hold your hands in front of your body in sort of a v-shape (not clasped together) and then use them to emphasize the things you're saying, an alternative is to simply sit down and present it that way. But you guys do what makes you comfortable and how you like to present best; the videos and progress are awesome and I'm very happy to be able to follow your awesome progress and excellent videos which are both informational and relaxing. Much love and best wishes for an absolutely fantastic 2024!
