    "Fear Inoculum" from Tool's "Fear Inoculum" album (2019).
    I wasn't actually going to cover anything from Fear Inoculum, but it seems like Tool unbanned every Tool video on RUclips. So yeah, here we are. Anyway, this will be in the comment section as well, but I've left the intro swells out. Most people will skip the swells anyway. So why did I? My volume knob makes this really annoying cracking sound when I do a swell, so the intro is just not going to happen with this bass. I had to record the swells at 3:07 so many times because of the cracking sound. But the intro is basically what I play at 3:10.
    Delay settings : 335Ms, 1.5 Recirc.
    Some important information that nobody is going to read.
    Tuning : D-A-D-G
    Artist : Tool
    Bassist : Justin Chancellor
    Album : Fear Inoculum (2019)
    Song : FEAR INOCULUM
    Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash

    When I was first getting into TOOL and watching live videos of them, I always wondered why Adam and Justin were so stationary. It's obvious now from watching your videos the sheer amount of concentration they have to put into what they're playing everytime they play! Damn I love the complexity of their music. Great job my friend !!

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  4 года назад +11

      Exactly :)
      Well, Justin moves quite a lot, but Adam really is the definition of stationary I guess. I think it fits Tool though. Very serious musicians.
      Thank you!

    • @First.Take.Jake.
      @First.Take.Jake. Год назад +3

      Yeah, I also think it's because they want to draw more attention to the music - that's part of TOOL's philosophy - when you focus on the teller of the tale, rather than the tale itself, you lose some meaning. Same principle here I think. Still hanging out for when TOOL comes to Australia next. Spiral out!

  • @LeoBassCovers2
    @LeoBassCovers2  5 лет назад +215

    Yes, I skipped the intro with the volume swells. Why? My volume knob makes this really annoying cracking sound when I do a swell, so the intro is just not going to happen with this bass. The intro is the exact same as what I play at 3:10.
    EDIT : MediaFire has banned me from uploading the tab for this song. That's why there are no links to the tabs I guess..

    • @georgiykireev9678
      @georgiykireev9678 5 лет назад +4

      I want to ask one question - do you edit the track in any way while deciphering it? There are sections here that would be a huge pain to tab out without altering the mix

      The potentiometer's track is dusty. To solve the problem, you have to put isopropylic alcohol inside the hole in the back of the potentiometer, roll the knob some times and it'll get clean. Easy job.

    I feel like a “Tool” commenting again, but I appreciate the fact that you added a little bit more treble on your bass so those of us on laptops can hear it. That’s exceedingly rare. Tool likes to hide those slinky lines in the midrange, to really mess with you, but you brought it to the front in just the right way without obscuring the underlying pulse, tone, and other tracks.

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  5 лет назад +2

      I think the real difficult part is actually moving bass to the front if you're playing on top of a track. Glad to hear about the treble though!

    I so needed this. I understood the guitar part fine, but the bass was elusive to me, especially when Adam comes in with that 11/8 groove. I thought for sure Justin was in a way different time signature, like 6/8 or 9/8 or something, I respect how much easier this is in 11/16, yet still sounding more complicated. This song grows on me every day.... now who's gonna cover this on drums?!?! Because that would be insane.

    That's so great.
    I wasn't that blown away by the song upon first hearing it (compared to Descending & Invincible) but I really like the bass parts.
    Great stuff.

    Can we also appreciate the key change between Am to Dm phrygian

    • @djjorix50
      @djjorix50 5 лет назад

      Don't want to be that guy, but a minor nitpick: it's D phrygian, not Dm phrygian. This is also how it works with the other modes.

      @@djjorix50 Nah you're right. I actually debated whether to look the correct way to say it before I posted that, but decided not too XD
