The Tool era was something wonderfull and a really great job of yours,I learned a shit tons of tool songs with your tabs and your work is amazing.I hope you keep doing shit like this because its really amazing
When i found this channel, i binged Learning tool songs on the bass. I've always played them on guitar and drums but i never knew most of the bass parts besides Sober and Schism.
The sonic dissonance of the guitar and bass in the bridge, and I’m not exaggerating, blew my whole mind. I showed my mom and was like if I don’t get a guitar, I’m done with school and sports. 😂😂
Just when I need a new song to learn, my boy Leo comes through. Keep up the good work, brother. Your covers are fantastic and have helped me immensely, especially with the Tool songs. They're always spot on
He reaaaaaaaally does. Right now I’m going through a tool phase and I don’t want to play any popular songs and Leo just saves me when it comes to bass cover.
Thanks for all the covers man you really helped me get into bass with tool being one of the main reasons I started the riffs that got me wanting to play I found them on your channel now I’ve been playing for over a year now thanks for all the vids 🤘
Man Ænima is simply best album. Pushit...eulogy. Fucking hell.. atmospheric masterpieces. Plus input from both bassists Paul and Justin. Its a bass cocktail. Delish 🤤
Spot on cover Leo, thanks for posting! As always your playing never fails to impress. I can't think of a better way to celebrate getting my tickets to see Tool in Miami than with a new Leo Tool cover! Somebody wake Johnkew up!
Thank you so much man! Johnkew has a lot more work to do though. Bass is a walk in the park compared to having to learn Danny Carey's parts.. You better enjoy that Tool show!
Rip Wings PT 1. In all seriousness though youre super cool and talented for doing all of this. Your vids have helped a lot and i appreciate them more than you could know
finishing off the tool era with a bass tone like that is absolutely legendary, your tone is equally impressive to your playing which is pretty damn impressive GG
Well done man! Listening and watching your vids are as good as listening to Tool themselves. I mean it. Thanks for covering this song as your last Tool cover. You made my day.
Thank you for all the covers, brother. Tool has been my all time favorite band/music for well nigh 26 years now..since the first time I heard Sober. Chancellor is the reason I wanted to play bass, because of what he brings to the songs. Your covers/tabs have been a godsend for me to learn my favorite songs to keep me out of the boredom rut and enjoy playing in the downtime! Salutations!
Hey man, thanks for all the work you put in. I have to tell you I’ve greatly appreciated it. Phenomenal job every time. You have given me a greater understanding and appreciation of what’s going on in these lines. Awesome end to the tool era, thanks again
Thank you so much for posting all of these. I can’t play anymore and watching you nail these songs literally brings a tear to my eye. Plus hearing the baseline highlighted like this really helps with the entire listening experience.
Sounds fantastic as always! Keep it up man! I do actually really like the studio version of Pushit, even though the Salival version is amazing. On another note, some of my friends in the EU mentioned the Coronavirus situation worsening, how are things over there?
Thanks as always :) Man the studio version is one of my favourite songs ever.. The Coronavirus is uhm.. interesting. Seems to be just a lot of hype and panic about a virus that has like a 2% chance to be lethal. But we'll see. It might turn out to be quite the slayer in the end. It has reached almost every country.
Ook voor deze video weer enorm bedankt! Vet nummer van een erg vette band...dankzij jou en je video's kan ik veel meespelen, soms zelfs op een acceptabel niveau. Ben benieuwd wanneer en of je met iets anders komt...
Awesome, great cover as always. Almost all Tool songs done, chapeau. Would love to hear some other stuff from you, how about porcupine tree or radiohead?
I will do other stuff from now on since I'm done with Tool. Definitely planning to do more Porcupine Tree in the future. Radiohead though... I really don't know.
Awesome bass cover as always!! Can you do wings pt.1 I have been trying to learn it but I can only get a little bit. Because some of the parts are the same for wings pt.2 I will be happy. Thx
Thanks! Wings pt.1 unfortunately isn't going to happen due to the difficult rhythm/timing and the fact that there's no drums/percussion which makes it impossible to record over.
Could you explain the time signature on the last part ("remember I will always love...") where it go 0 77 10 - 0 0 3-5 hammer on? I am trying to do a cover of it and this part is confusing me pretty badly. Great playing BTW
Thank you! It's still just 6/4, but you shouldn't really count that part. It's more about memorizing the riff/notes and feeling this riff. I just noticed that the yellow bar in this video seems to speed up slightly around 8:47 so that doesn't help. But again, it's all about feeling that part and knowing when to time it. I'm sure that Justin doesn't count those bars
Maybe do it without the metronome and bass at first. The first goal is to actually know the rhythm of that change. The metronome will only make it more difficult since we're suddenly moving into an off-beat rhythm. My suggestion: tap along with your hands while listening to the song/this video to see if you have the rhythm down. After that, it's really just 6 dotted quarter notes and then the 0-3-5 part.
Hey Leo I was wondering what mic you use for recording and the software. I'm getting into finally recording my riffs now that I have a PC and wanted to know how you get such a crisp sound. Love your covers man they've taught me so many of my favorite songs and I'm exited to see what you do next ❤️
Thank you :) I actually don't use a mic or an amp for my setup. It's just an audio interface (Universal Audio) that lets me use all these bass amp simulator plug-ins and effects (pretty expensive) while recording in my DAW that is Cubase. I have no idea which mic would be good for that as I've always done it digitally.
When you got that bass, did you compare it to the thumb? I have been looking to get that warwick tone but it is hard for me to tell the different Warwick's apart to know which would better suit me.
I did not do any comparing whatshowever. I thought this one looked nice compared to the others (I find a thumb quite ugly) so I went with the Corvette.
Just a question, i try to play it but i do not arrive to see if you let ring the A string or not ? If you do it, what is your secret ? But in fact, i think you let it ring ... Thanks for helping.
@@LeoBassCovers2 during in the whole song, or since the beginning .. when you play on the D string do you let the A string ring ? Sorry i m not very clear in my explanations
Not going to happen.. I tried it a month ago and the rhythm is just something I don't want to think about. The lack of percussion/drums is awful to record over.
@@LeoBassCovers2 yea I’ve seen him live playing it and also just listening. He doesn’t go to the high 9th fret on the G string until the second verse for example
