I love all these treasures you find in the Closets of lost gold! I have a Porta Studio MKIV 4-track that uses cassettes from at least 20 years ago. Analog with digital controls! The best of both worlds.
Good for YOU, after working hard for all those years, actually following your dreams.. No matter what, your work ethic was in place. Plus talent...2 of the most important recipes for success. And I like your demeanor.I'll checking ya out from here on. Congrats!
I remember back in the 70s a retailer in nyc (Tech hifi on 48st, ) the dbx dynamic range expander being a type of compressor designed for audio. I miss that era.
Roland works with roland guitars or any guitar with a roland GK-2 or GK-3 pickup mounted on it, which is what most people do. Actually probably wouldnt work with an old roland guitar synth guitar, since those were a whole different type of analog voltage control triggering. But in the 90s fender and roland partnered on a GK equipped strat. The first synth to use that system iirc was the rack mount gr-50 followed by the big GR-1 floorboard synth, which I had, then they came out with the cheaper GR-09. The GR-30 was later
@@terryenglish7132 no they won't. It will only pass through the guitar signal to the guitar outputs, you cannot trigger any of the synth sounds without a GK hex pickup
@@terryenglish7132 yes they are just 6 magnetic pickups but they are not processed as audio, they are for pitch detection which is what triggers the internal synth sounds. They use a funky 13 or thereabouts pin cable that also sends the guitar pickups along with them to be routed to your amp via guitar out jacks, you need a separate amp or PA input for the synth sounds. This was middle school (old school being the old analog guitar synths). New school technology can trigger simply from a normal guitar. I don't know what you have, but if it does not have that multi pin cable input for a GK system, it is just a new school synth, not the old GR series guitar synthesizer
That Maestro foot switch you have there was a footswitch controller for the Maestro PS1-A phase shifter. It permitted the user to control the three speeds of the phase shifter for fast, medium and slow. When switching from fast to slow the speed of the effect slowed down gradually which sounded a little bit like a Leslie speaker being slowed down. The PS1-A was a very popular effects devise back in the day. The PS1 phase shifter is still available on the used market today and is fairly common but ridiculously over-priced at around $500 IMO. That footswitch that you have is pretty rare though. It was specifically made for the PS1-A. You don't see very many of those around.
5:04 Zimm all you need is a gk3 equipped guitar and the gk3 pup is easy and non destructive to install on any guitar.... pretty cheap too readily available at sweetwater
The Roland guitar synthesizer unit pairs with a Fender Strat that has a built in Roland pickup and corresponding plug jack. I would be interested in it because I had one of these Strats and gave it to my nephew who is getting quite good. PS I’m on Reverb etc. cheers!
Hey Zimm - you always say "I always have **random part** in the shop". Let's see the whole shop! And thanks, I spend hours just chilling watching you fix guitars (that's why I'm a patreon).
I’d rather have that old Japanese flat top than just about any beginner or mid to lower level guitars. I’d just about guarantee that it would make you throw rocks at anything new under 1000 dollars. Seriously it’s a cool old guitar. Crazy when I started playing back in the 90s you couldn’t give them old Ibanez pedals away unless it was a tube screamer. Also I wonder if that tech21 OD is just the pre amp of the DI it could be cool in the loop or the front end. I’ve got a beringer clone of the tech21 sans amp and it’s like it has cab sims on it and I can’t get a sound out of it in the loop or into the power amp. It would be cool to be able to have fender cleans and Marshall lead tone in a pedal like that. I’m sure there’s other pedals that do that now but something is cool about that old Tech21 stuff.
@@terryenglish7132 that is an older gk synth, there is no "mono". It was not like today's synth pedals that can work with an ordinary guitar signal. Gk hex pickup or no synthy synth triggering
I think some of the guitar synths allow you to install a pickup on any guitar and control the synth unit

Looking forward to hearing that Fender amp, hope it’s not too difficult of a fix. Still dig that firewood acoustic lol.
Those BOSS pedals never die.

Some awesome finds, seeing the old tascam four track, takes me back,i might still have it in the loft, and definitely some metal overdrive pedals.
Wow!
You are first person that I ever heard that sounds similar to "Joe Walsh" when you talk.
I couldn't place his voice. It's Walsh
Those tascam cassette recorders are fun to record on if you can get tapes. Has a certain sound. Nostalgia
Great to hear all the. Petals pedals

Thank you!!
That's what I started writing songs on. Haven't seen one of those in ears looks pretty clean
I had the Tri OD pedal at one time.
Were you able to get the Yamaha acoustic back to playing shape?
the gr-30 should be compatible with the roland gk-3 or gk-2 pickup
I still have masters from my Tascam PortaStudio.....a Fostex X-15 as well...lmao...good times
hopefully you can get that ibanez fat cat pedal up and running. great pedals, regret getting rid of mine.
nice video neat stuff that customers will like for sure when fixed. thanks for posting Larry
You killed me with the tascam , the ideal replacement to my dead fostex 'x26 .
What cabinet is that line 6 head sitting on? That sunn foot switch would easily find a home in the stoner rock community.
Some interesting pieces in there.
I used to have a Tascam Porta 5 in like 1989. Did you do anything with the Fender Lace Sensor pickups?
Alsis adapter is for an Alesis Quadraverb
Nice work !!
Thanks for the visit
This was great! I felt like i was going through boxes in my basement. Fun CITY!
🤟😁👍That 60s Bandmaster is killer.

Do you have a reverb store? I'd buy that Hendrix sticker
That Roland unit MAY work with a regular guitar with a Roland divided pickup installed.
Midi pickup?
The Rolands work w a regular guitar. But mono instead of hex .
Dude, I have that shirt... Guy tried to buy it off my at a gtg in Wis. couple years ago...
Dude! Where are you finding these lockers?
Very cool! Those vintage pedals definitely gives us GAS!
Steve O's voice on the corpse of a California 80's teen. 😂😂😂😂laugh with me bro. Love your show!
What is the guitar next to the Marshall cabinet?
Open that bassman up and make it into a Marshall best sound you'll ever get
Zimm how much do you want for that Tascam ministudio? I’ve got one that’s beyond repair and would love to get another.
Call the shop!!
cool stuff.
Where is the pevey cabs
You don't need the roland guitar.just the pickup
Never use contact cleaner when electronics are on! you can create a short or even get shocked.
Great vids!!!!
Roland Guitar synths require a Roland hex pickup, but can be fitted to any electric guitar!
Also can be put on steel string acoustics
For hex. For mono a normal guitar works.

The Maestro footswitch is probably for a Maestro PS-1 Phaser, and worth quite a bit.
Hey Scott thanks
Sure my guitar teacher had a roland guitar synth, didnt need a guitar just a special pickup?
Hey
In one of these you're going to find a long lost '59 Les Paul! :)
I wont get anymore lockers...sadly
That Nippon sounds great... looks like an ebony board too
There are some people who pay good money for just the boxes.
Hi Sandra !!
This guy liked to take stuff apart better than he liked to put stuff together. Most of that stuff needs listed on ebay.
Super
👍
Nice
Very nice
Indeed
Boss stuff is pretty much indestructible....
Poor Fat Cat
Hey Zimm! Would you be willing to sell that Nippon? I'm a huge fan.
