it often matters less what you are doing than who you are with. My wife and I look back on some of our “worst” trips fondly because we still had a great time because we were together.
For sure!
I thru-hiked the Foothills Trail the first week of November and loved it. It’s gorgeous in the fall. The second half of the trail, including Sassafras and Pinnacle Mountains, would have been very tough with a knee injury.
Sometimes the best experiences end up being something other than what we have planned. I really enjoyed this vid.
I think this is my favorite video of yours so far. Super relevant too. I'm supposed to be driving right now to a trailhead for a weekend solo trip but, instead, I cancelled last minuted and I'm here on RUclips because of a knee injury I don't want to irritate (and less than ideal weather forecast). It's hard not to feel like you have failed or let yourself down...your video reminded me it's okay to take care of yourself and just relax. (Also, I just ordered some Lidocaine patches...what a great idea!)
I’ve had several trips cut short for one reason or another. Disappointing when things don’t go as planned, but taking advantage of the extra blocked out time to just rest is often worth it in the end. Enjoy your down time, and I hope all goes well for your next trip.
Lovely video. Love that you guys still made the best of the time you had together.
Great work guys. Hope to see you back out soon.
I really love your videos. Thanks for the content you put out! I think it’s important to remind people that being outside is much more important than finishing a goal. I really love that you had a great time even though plans changed.
Bummer about the hike but atleast you made the most of the trip!!!
Looks like a great trip, even though it was cut short.
Minus the injury it seems like you guys had a great time. That waterfall looked amazing!
Great video. Let’s hope his knee injury isn’t too serious, and maybe you can pick up where you left off in the future.
Thanks Tom. After some PT, my knee is back to 100%!
This was amazing to watch! I had to bail on my thru hike of the FHT last October at EXACTLY the same spot (Sloan bridge at SC 107). Taz picked me up. :) I plan to finish it this April.
That's pretty crazy! I've actually been considering going back in April as well. I don't have exact dates yet, so if you have any interest in hiking together let me know.
@@GearTestTV that would be awesome! I’m still getting my plans together as well and looking at a 5 day, 4 night plan. I’d be happy to share my plans with you to see if they work out with yours. Is there a way to DM on RUclips? If so hit me up!
@@AV8Nate That sounds good! There's no way to DM on RUclips, but if you have Instagram you can message me there. Or email me.
My knees and back have pretty much eliminated backpacking for me. 😔 I’ve been where your buddy was. Sometimes the best camping adventures are exactly the one you guys had
Disappointing for sure, but looks like you guys made the best of it! Great video! We’re planning for the end of October. I hear there a lot of stairs. Any metal grate stairs? (Taking our dog along). Thank you!
Never an easy call to make, but it's better to wait and rest up rather than injure yourself more and cause irreversible damage
If adventures followed a script they wouldn't be adventures.
