It's no secret that top-of-the-line gear is expensive. Like this comment if you'd like to see a video about cheaper alternatives to the gear in this video.
Yes please. Your backpack/tent/hammock category alone is more than what I've spent for full gear for 2 shoes included. Roughly the same result weight (bit less but I don't have filming stuff). UL does seem more pricey...
I haven't yet. I was planning to purchase another kit from RBTR so I could make a step-by-step video of how I modified it, but the kits have been sold out for a while. I'm going to look into options from other suppliers.
You mentioned the main variable for me at the beginning, the food and water. My gear stays basically the same on every trip , one day or more. Water is easy to come by but the amount of food changes by the amount of days plus one extra day of food. As a Ultralight packer I know it's extra weight but it's a safety net and it's not a 7 course meal. If anyone else runs short there is a days worth for them.
Both are great tents, but The One has become my go-to mostly because of being smaller and lighter. I also find it a little faster to setup, and I like that the side walls are slanted out toward the top so less risk of rain in the tent if you go to bed without the vestibules down. The only downside is that the entry is only on one side of the tent.
I picked up the Arc Air 60 for longer or winter trips. I agree it carries great. Had an issue with the vertical stays coming out but Zpacks repaired it and no issues since. Only going to get used for specific kinds of trips but it's a great option.
Thanks. Always great content! One thought to share… almost by accident I started carrying a piece of reflectix and use it as a clean space for cooking, insulator for food pouch, plate, you name it. Weighs 1.5 oz. keep the videos coming! BTW, if you like the Chicken Tramper camera bag, you will love their backpacks! After 150 miles or so, I’m a fan!
I always take a piece of reflectix too. I also use it as a place to stand to get into my hammock or for a sit pad. I think it's my most used piece of gear.
I think you would like the Zpacks Arc Haul much better, and it’s better at carrying light or heavy loads doesn’t matter! It’s Zpacks best pack! And the roll top is what you like bigger longer and much better on the Arc Haul. Yep and thanks to you I use the exact same water system setup just tested out with my son on our first 3 day trip together on the AT and I absolutely loved it!!! We are changing His blatter our for the same setup too!
Nice loadout. Seems really well dialed in. Question about your shirt: what is the material? If they discontinued the shirt, it might be good to look for the particular blend of materials in other shirts.
Yeah I looked into the Nero for an ultralight trip last year, but it had mixed reviews. Ended up going with a GG Murmur instead. Thankfully the Arc Air has served me well thus far.

Would love to see an updated version of your Low Budget 9 LB/$650 video from two years ago.
I would love to see a video on your diy pot cover.
Noted!
Agreed! :)
Me too!
I would enjoy a video on your diy pot cover.I’m interested in making one like yours
Did you ever do a tutorial on how to make that little dyneema cook kit cover?

@@GearTestTV cool I’m looking forward to it, and yeah the ongoing supply chain issues really suck
I know you just mentioned it almost as an aside, but that little weather gadget is super neat! I always wonder how cold it was when I’m camping
I’m interested in how you made your cook pot bag that turns into a clean surface! Thanks for a great video.

Nice video Paul. Good to see the update and gear list.
I am very impressed with your channel. Thank you so much for making these videos for us
Good stuff! Was that a trekking pole camera mount? How do I find that? I need it! Lol
What are your thoughts on The One vs your Skyscape Trekker? Debating on these two for a thru-hike next year.

Good tip! Thanks for the feedback!
I had same thing happen with me. Bought pack and a few weeks later they offered option for front mesh.

Lots of great gear from a lot of great companies.
I really like your backpack. Very interested in seeing the watch
Have fun on your trip
Thanks, Jason sir!
Did you do a G4-20 review? Thinking about buying it!

Nice video thankyou !
Watched all of it
I really hate my Z-packs Nero. I spent less and got more from Gossamer Gear. Or a bit more and got Pa' Lante.

Nice loadout forc6 days.
