I love that you're honest that you don't know anything about bias and sag and compressors. I'm the same way. Usually I'll just use the "factory" default settings. Sometimes I'll bump a knob up or down to see what effect it has on the overall sound, but honestly when there are 5 or 6 knobs and each effects the other it's hard to tweak it if you don't know what you're doing or why. With stuff like distortion or other simpler things than compression I tell people to treat it like you just bought that one pedal. If it's only got two or three knobs see what each sounds like on 0, 5 & 10 and all the combinations. Then try to just dial in what sounds good. The best thing about modelling amps and multi-effects processors though is that you can have different settings of the same effect on each overall preset. If I buy a physical pedal I'm probably going to dial it in to where it sounds good and barely ever touch it again - just switch it on and off to do its thing when needed. But it may be capable of doing other things also and you'll just probably never use it to its full potential. Having so many amps and effect models to choose from can be so overwhelming, but I've definitely found spending some time digging into each one like it's one new physical thing that I've bought and seeing what it can do really helps to get a better understanding and feel for it.
Hey Steve! Part of my retirement plan…I’m getting back into jammin’. It’s been 40 yrs. Just bought an Epiphone SG and Fender GTX 50, and I’ve ordered the GTX 7 foot switch. Will be watching, learning.
12:16 yes please! Show us how to arrange a set or how to go from channel 1 for preset 4 then channel 2 preset 154 then channel 3 preset 78. That would be awesome to show
Hello, Steve. I just found your channel and have subscribed. Great content. I have the Mustang GTX and love it. Have you looked into the creation of Hank Marvin’s echo sound that he used. Apparently he achieved it using two delays. For the life of me I can’t figure it out. I’m hoping that you have. Much thanks.
Just bought the Mustang GTX 100. Set up some new sounds, but I am having trouble keeping the volume level the same when I switch between effects using the included pedal. Can you provide any help? Thx.
A number of people have asked that same question, and my best advice is to just keep playing around with all the different volume and gain levels… Trying to equalize them the best you can. There’s really no other magic solution. Hope that helps a little 👍
Yes, I may have demonstrated that here, but I love that. I use it on high or super for all of my tones, just to make it dead quiet when the guitar is quiet.👍
With the GTX series, Fender made a big mistake in that the product cannot be connected to a PC. Only mobile wifi apps on Android including registrations, apps, I not only don't like it, it's useless to the user. The user wants to play, not register somewhere, log in, enter passwords. I was very disappointed by this approach to users. Most of us have a studio and everything else on a PC or Apple. DAW, multitrack, etc. Unfortunately, this is clearly not a bug, but an imposed intent. This is the end of Fender products. Probably permanently. An ordinary NUX MG 100 is enough for me, and nothing and no one restricts me in any way. 🖐🏻🐬🫧🫧🫧👎🏻
4:20 BASE amp, not BASS amp 🤣 … and timestamps in the description

Also, SE Texas here
@SteveGuitar Hi Steve. I'm missing your content. Nothing for a year or so. I hope all is well?

Hi just got this amp! Thanks for your videos!!!
Thanks so much, I love the GTX 100 and just starting to realize what can be done with.
Sweet! Glad it’s helpful. See you around
yeah, it sounds good
the tone you made
Greer SC. Learning for my brother, i am a bass player
Fender GTX 50 with foot pedal. Only fender gear. I am learning to love the amp. Still trying to dial in the perfect jazz warm, round, fat tone.

It will be interesting to see what elements you combine to create your tone and if I can recreate in BiasFX on my PC.
You’ll probably do better than me😎👍
@@SteveGuitar I doubt it, but thanks for the vote of confidence.

I’m like you, I just don’t understand compressors and how to use them properly.
Hello steve does it have a noise gate?
Yes, I may have demonstrated that here, but I love that. I use it on high or super for all of my tones, just to make it dead quiet when the guitar is quiet.👍

Yes you can connect to a pc. It has a built in audio interface. You're wrong about that
