When the irrepressibly irritating Marlene 'Rabbit' Warren has the urge to break a world record with The Women in league, it coincides with Judy Bryant's grandson's school's desperate need for funds, and, predictably, the two causes are happily combined. With the breathtaking, wig-wearing, windscreen-specs-sporting ever-present Barbara Krantz in charge of publicity, the seventy-two hours seem to stretch into an endless circus of burgundy polyester and theatrical yawning. Even an understandably psychotic anonymous growling madman on the phone to Mrs. Reynolds is unable to force the waltzers into an early bath. No wonder Inspector Rouse has got the hump!
