  • Breathy new officer Terri Malone catches The Freak in an uncharacteristically charitable mood, and the pair waste no time bonding over a scotch egg in the staffroom. Before you know it they are admiring one another's taste in blouses and talking shop in a local tinkly piano'd bar. Joan demonstrates that her seduction techniques are not quite as slick as her hair, but luckily Terri is as simperingly forthright as she is cloudily-haired, and in no time at all, in the hotbed of romance that is the Wentworth Detention Centre staffroom, they are shamelessly touching one another's hands whilst grinning arousedly. Later, they swap seats in their other favourite haunt, and, undeterred by the relentless pianist, Terri responds to Joan(who understandably glosses over her infamous black-gloved technique when claiming she would never force herself on anybody)'s startling "I am what I am" speech as any red-blooded woman would, whisking her off home without further ado.

Great montage of clips and a brilliant, funny, witty summary, Xihymn!
I actually found this storyline mega-cliched but then again it WAS the early 80s. Brit soaps hadn't even jumped on the "gay" bandwagon at this stage.
It's the way the plotline plays out that's so naff - older "butch" lezzer officer fancies younger bi "femme" officer; they move into together; they bicker, they disagree, then the younger one shags a fella and older one can't cope, etc etc. Naff...yet curiously watchable.

Teri was more manipulative than first thought. Despite Joan being the token villain of the show, she was also incredibly lonely. Teri tapped into this and used her. Teri and "Sharon Gilmour" were very much alike.

Funnily enough, I just thought of that when I typed in Terri and Joan. It reminded me of Terry and June. LOL

Yep, maybe Audrey could have come back in the form of another character. Then that would have been a 3rd actress who has played 2 characters in Prisoner and had one of their characters linked to Joan. The only two actresses that have that connection are: Margot Knight as Sharon Gilmore and Terri Malone, and Julianne Newbould as Hannah Simpson and Wendy Glover.

First thing I noticed too, Prisoner often recycles actors I think they believe we don't remember!!!

Yes, that's a recycled actress in Wentworth... Sharon's ghost. I hope Judy's pacemaker doesn't play up.

Sharon was such a powerful character I think it was a mistake to bring her back as another character. I never bought her as anyone else.

@Xihymn No WAY. Sharon was a brat, who used Judy for protection. She cared only about herself and would make fun of Judy for being a fat cow. Now Terri, was a brat, who used Joan and made fun of her looks...Oh yeah... I see your point :o)

Yeah but Hannah was right at when Joan came and I think they were trying to establish the character as absolutely evil
