The GT86 is a sleek and sporty ride, But with some modifications, it can be amplified. A new exhaust system for a growling sound, And a cold air intake to keep the engine cool and sound. Upgraded brakes and suspension for better control, And a lightweight flywheel for faster acceleration, we know the goal. Add a turbo or supercharger for more power, And a body kit to give it an aggressive tower. New wheels and tires for better grip on the road, And a paint job to make it shine and show it's bold. Modifying a GT86 is an art, A car that's customized will surely set it apart.
Yeah and it would be a great car. They are really nice looking just not worth the money. Even second hand they're around 12k for one that isn't nackered and still around 70k miles! All that for ab extremely slow base car is the issue. I think they're amazing to start with but the cost to modify is Insane as it needs a lot to be quick.
@@honesttroll3463 then you bought the car for the wrong reasons. Power shouldn't be the priority so much as a side goal option.. Too many cars focus on that and it shows because they can't perform well anywhere else without getting into supercar territory. They just aren't as fun as these cars can be. Power is "lacking" because most cars people are familiar with have a tiny turbo from factory to help boost torque in low and mid range so despite having similar power or slightly more they just feel faster because of that torque coming on early in the powerband. In these NA smaller engines you have to build it up in the higher rpms.
Anyone who stumbles upon this vid should definitely get the GT86, not for any of the reasons the video mentioned, but for these two words: *JUNGLE FIRE!*
The GT86 is one of the cars I'd like to replace my Honda CRZ eventually, would be a rocket for me as I can have fun in my CRZ and that only has 120bhp. Other options are another Honda (FN2 likely), MX-5, cool Kei car like a S660 (import from Japan). I'm in Ireland so tax on 2 litre petrol cars and insurance on sports cars is quite high, so that's a consideration. Also the GT86 is so rare here in Ireland, like my CRZ you just don't see them.
@@CarsWithBen Hay man. I've been searching alot for a clean petrol example under 35k miles but they all seem to be around £18k :( do you think I can find any for 12k with my requirements? Thanks!
Nice looking and not too heavy. 0-60 time is 7.6s or something like that which is obviously not a fast car. To buy one and modify would be the goal but u can't get one in UK for less than £12,000 and 70k miles. That is an expensive car start modifying when u can buy plenty that are half this cost that are instantly far faster, type r, Clio rs200, golf GTi, Mazda MPs etc. Granted these 86' are nicer cars than some of them but still has worse build quality. The cost to get good performance is going to be around £15,000 so may aswel just buy a gr86. For the cost you could buy a rs3 lol. U can mod any car but I have never seen a quick gt86. It has a boxer engine which isn't a great thing really. Im not hating the car, just been realistic. Why would anyone choose this over say a 335i? Similar price for the 335i but miles quicker stock and has HUGE upgrade possibilities. Only positive thing about these are they are Japanese but I do think the car was a failure/mistake. They should have had a turbo and they would have been a complete success but they were seriously overpriced from day 1. Even a 350z can be grabbed in UK for around 8k with similar mileage and is obviously far faster, sounds far better and has plenty of mod room.
Super insight sir. It is a great car but seem to hold there money atm too. For me, a car like a 350z was way older and had higher tax so was a no brainer
Here in Los Angeles, I found a '16 frs with 56k mi for $16k. Small bumbper damage that has a new bumper. If it's there in 2 months I'll settle for $14k if it runs good. But only 10k price has well over 120k miles. I wouldn't risk that
Big unless! Unlessssss you’re that guy that does that useless Negative Camber. Stick to your honda or get a muscle car you’re gonna be driving straight. This is not a straightaway warrior car. Just check the salvaged title listings.

Couldn't have put it better myself! I am aiming for some of these mods too.

Stock intake is already a highly efficient cold air intake. A panel filter is the only worthwhile upgrade without FI or a different snorkel.
Epic poem lmao
I still own my 2015 GT86 TRD Edition and love it
Nice to hear!
I have a 2023 GR86, but I'd love to have a GT86/FRS to be my daily.
Nice, I have to drive a GR at some point
I’m thinking on getting one of these in a year or so, I CANT WAIT😭
you won't regret it. got mine a few months ago and have already done 7000km. it's like crack
bullshit when he said "cheap insurance" though. in my experience with ICBC (canadian insurance) it's nearly 2800$ a year if you're a younger driver
Just had the UEL NA tune done by Fensport, completely changed the way it drives, can’t recommend it enough!
I have been debating this. Would love to do it.
Still passes inspection fine? I wanna do EL and a cat back but not sure how MA inspection would feel

Perfect platform
Exactly! That was the intention!
Your video is what made me buy one of these 😅
Eh thats what we like to hear :D Hope you enjoy

Finally, the truth!! Thank you.
My pleasure!
Tbh the gt86 looks more unique compared to the gr86
I think it looks more aggressive and sporty but thats just me
Really want one prolly a 2014-2015 maybe an earlier one if it already has the valve issue problems delt with
Great stuff! What do you think is a good price range for one in the Uk?
Thank you! I'd say anywhere between £10-12k for a good one and reasonable price. Depends on your mileage requirements though.

currently around £8-10k now
Looking to buy one of these bad boys. Might case the old bank account to take a big hit though 😂
They are really good. I recommend it if you can. I have had mine 2 years now!
Hi, what is the name of those white rims please?
Bola B1. Some people are not fans due to being Reps but I love them
@@CarsWithBen They look great. Could you please tell me the ET of those rims?

saw a gt86 blackline for 34,000 AUD modded
This looks exactly like my car lol
Red + white wheels my friend?
What engine does it have and is it NA?
FA20 NA boxer engine pretty nice for a NA
Absolute no chance you’re getting a decent one with good mileage around £10k

I think I'd still buy a gt86 automatic no less that way I can do bolt ons OR have it for an e- conversion. Never liked the look of gr86.
That's fair enough. People do say they prefer the GT86 for looks. Both versions will still be great.
Everyone i see driving this is under 5'10 which makes me think it can't be done for me. But seat adjustment is an easy fix?!?! If so, I'm game
I am 6ft so I promise there is loads of room
Time to setup a loan 😂
I'd honestly argue most people can buy one or even finance is not bad for these now!
hmmm I can pay £275 a month on finance £11k 2013 automatic @@CarsWithBen
I suppose its not terrible! What's interest?
Merry Xmas and its 6.19% @@CarsWithBen
Paid in cash right? Car payments wouldn’t be suitable for me.
I personally did yeah but I previously sold another car at the time so the payment didn't feel too bad
