This record was just so insane and I wasn't even expecting to see it yesterday!! Congrats to Max he deserves it and now we have entered a new Era of cubing without Yusheng Du at the top
@@ScoochCubingI’ve seen two world records and I’ve only been to comps in California so cali is sweaty I guess lol, the records were .75 Pyra former wr and 36.xx 5x5 average world record
@@edenbaker1 I could see that being possible, but it’s important to remember how long YushengDu’s record lasted, maybe because it was such a large jump from the previous 4.22. The jump of Max’s 3.13 is less than half as big, but it is still pretty significant, should at the very least not be broken for a year. Than again though, Erik’s 7.08 was actually a bigger jump than Yushengdu. Yet it only lasted two years, so we will see, maybe it could be broken as early as mid 2024, but late 2025 will still be my primary prediction.
@@otamota7563 People like Yiheng and Ruihang have gotten multiple sub 3s at home and with Yiheng going crazy with his official averages, I don't think it will be long. Everyone for the past few months have been saying that people like Tymon or Yiheng will break the 3x3 single probably this summer and while it is harder now, I still think they will
Epic! 5years gone. now we have a actually good cuber for the single wr... thats what makes me happy. btw in the thumbnail, it lowkey looks like your in the judging chair haha,
i sat next to him at that comp, and after he got wr, he listed all the wr singles in order and added his last. he said its the first sub 7 average with a wr single. im not sure about that, but its still the fastest at 6.00! its really insane and he totally deserves it. i think it will not stand as long as yusheng's 3.47 since a lot of people have sub 4s, so maybe until early next year.
No way haha that’s so cool. Would have loved to be there talking to him just after the wr. And yeah definitely the fastest average with a wr single anyway haha
Kalin this video has got to be one of my favourites I don’t know what it is about it was it the thumbnail (yes) but just something about the camera angles made it like really good to me. Keep up the good work and great vid
There are a few sub-3 unofficial solves on video, so I think the smart money is on this being broken "at some point." It's like running a sub-2hr marathon. It's literally been done before, so likely just a matter of time before it is done in an official race.
Yeah it could be the case, it will probably take a very long time as sub 3 at home is still so rare if you think about the several thousands of solves the top cubers do
Hi scooch I’m also a 2x2 main but I suck in comp I know full eg1 and cll but how can I improve my one looking/inspection (besides eg2) Any tips? Thanks keep it up!
Everyone is a little worse in comp than at home so you should worry about it too much. What do you average, and around what percentage of solves can you one-look?
@@ScoochCubing thanks for responding! I average high 3 low 4 at home. I choked so hard in comp averaging a six. I one-look like probably only 5% of my solves. I really want to improve because I like the event a lot and want to get involved in it.
@@permutatedcubing with cll and eg-1, and with two looking, you should probably be averaging low 3 to high 2. Make sure your algs and fingertricks are best, also I would suggest teaching yourself auf prediction for all algs you know
@@ScoochCubing thanks for the tips! Any advice for one-looking solves though? I think the limitations in my solves are tps and case recognition. If I could be faster at recognizing cases, I would be a lot better. Thanks for all the help!
@@permutatedcubingyou improve one looking either by just doing solves or doing something like generating a random cll, then doing R U R’ and then see if you can one look it. And gradually you do harder cases. However for now, at the level you’re at you shouldn’t worry about one looking too much, I would focus more on fast alg recognition and having good algs. @@ScoochCubing Ya I know, I was just being a smart a**. As a non-cuber mathematician you'd also have yo known the old records. So it's easier if you know math well. However, considering Yusheng Du's record was 20% improvement, compared to Max's 10%, and the it took 5 years to break the record, there's probably a lot of newer cubers who don't think Max beat it by much.

3.13 is just incredible. Well done to Max and thank you for the reaction
amazing solve congrats max!!
very cool tymon level double x cross
Now MoYu won’t use Yusheng to advertise every release

I think it will last until late 2025. (Like October or something.)

Next year in november its gonna be a new record

alright now that this is broken the next longest standing is the 16 in fmc! maybe someone will tie it in another 5 years

You don't have to be a cuber to understand how big of a drop it is, all you have to understand is math.
