George wrote this song for John in the year after he died and both Paul and Ringo are playing on the song. The Beatles never stopped loving each other. They just had to go their separate ways. It was Paul who got a very private house for George in Los Angeles when George found a new cancer treatment at UCLA so George could be close to his treatments when he was still doing his best to fight the cancer. It was first Paul and then Ringo by his bedside when he passed, and if John had still been alive he would have been there too. Near the end George returned to his Beatles family for comfort and love, that never stopped for any of them in spite of any bad times, and just like family they could weather any bad times and still love each other. When George's chips were down both Paul and Ringo were there for George.
Actually, George had the song ready to record, but with different lyrics. When John was killed, he re-wrote the words to pay tribute. Paul and Linda sang backup, and Ringo played drums.
John died 5 years before I was born, so even though that's not all that long of time, he just always felt like someone from a lifetime ago, almost like he wasn't even real, just a myth. George died 20 years ago, and I still remember it.
Harrison's Mother died when the Beatles were breaking up, amid much acrimony. That didn't stop Lennon sending Harrison a note 'Sorry to hear about your Ma'.

John Lennon did some of his best work around his passing away, he was a legendary music talent and personality, I hear paul McCartney still did his best work with john Lennon besides him they had magic together
I have unopened Beatles import records from the early 70s and including their individuals and 45s most never played. I had over a 100 albums alone, most unopened, I sold a couple 25 years ago. However, I'm sorry to say to have to be the one to say it, neither John nor George believed the gospel of their salvation, believing in our SAVIOR, Jesus the anointed one (Christ). There is therefore, nothing heavenly about them or their music, literally. I hope Paul and Ringo will come to faith in Jesus the anointed one, they do not presently as far as I know. I am a doctrinal bible teacher and I hope all people will come to faith, believing the gospel of their salvation, many, many do not.
*All those years ago* I'm shouting all about love While they treated you like a dog When you were the one who had made it so clear All those years ago. I'm talking all about how to give They don't act with much honesty But you point the way to the truth when you say All you need is love. Living with good and bad I always looked up to you Now we're left cold and sad By someone the devil's best friend Someone who offended all. We're living in a bad dream They've forgotten all about mankind And you were the one they backed up to the wall All those years ago You were the one who Imagined it all All those years ago. Deep in the darkest night I send out a prayer to you Now in the world of light Where the spirit free of the lies And all else that we despised. They've forgotten all about God He's the only reason we exist Yet you were the one that they said was so weird All those years ago You said it all though not many had ears All those years ago You had control of our smiles and our tears All those years ago
So George wrote a song for John (this one). Paul wrote Here Today for John and Friends to Go for George. Ringo even wrote a song for George (Never Without You). At the end of the day, they all did love one another.
Many think “Something” was George’s best song. I disagree. This is. In spite of the Beatles trials and tribulations, ups and downs, I truly believe they had a special love amongst them. I was sixteen when they came to America. The perfect age to be at a very special time. God bless them for bringing so much joy into so many millions of people’s lives.
This song shows how underrated George Harrison was as a songwriter and a person. It is also a testimony to the the talents of Paul and John that such a talented songwriter was overshadowed.
That’s what irks me so much about his death. While an assassination is devastating already, the assassination of such a brilliant mind just adds to the loss. John Lennon did quite a few questionable things in his time on earth, but damn he could write a good song
I'm almost sure there would have been a Beatles reunion perhaps starting on MTV, sometime during the 1980's had Lennon been around. Kind of like the Monkees mid-80's come back. What could have been....

This was recorded by George & Ringo in November 1980 as a song for Ringo. It wasn't used. After Lennon's murder on December 8, 1980...George removed Ringo's vocal from the track...Harrison reworked the lyrics as a tribute to John...and asked Paul to come to his studio and add backing vocals in early 1981.The song has Ringo on drums...Paul & Linda on backing vocals...along with Denny Laine....George on vocals and guitar...Al Kooper on electric piano...Herbie Flowers on bass...and Ray Cooper on tambourine. It was released in May 1981...and became a big hit all around the world! Lots of radio stations were calling this the "new" Beatles single.

You speak the truth Miss Linas. The Eastern meditation, the Hari Chrishnas a all the roads he traveled looking for the truth, I hope in his travels he found Christ. I used to pray for his salvation. Loved him...❤️
To be Christian is a dedication to a life of being like Christ as best we can in everything we do, wherever we are and with all we are with. This idea escapes most Christians. As George noted, most religions are different paths to God. When Christ said that He was The Path to God's Heaven, His point was to be like Him and heed His commandment. One can reach God by simply living a kind, altruistic & unselfish life dedicated to God under whatever name. The name isn't important.

"Shouting all about love, while they treated you like a dog" a great tribute by George, who did look up to John,he said that Lennon was so brave, someone who would be at the front of you were marching out to war. I think they had real affection for each other, because George was a few years younger than John,I think John always looked at George as his younger brother. Also George played on some tracks on Lennon's classic Imagine album.
Well, if you're talking about the Beatles period, it is actually true that he didn't write the majority of the songs. It was mostly Paul and John at the beginning. Then they realised George had a true talent for songwriting, and they regretted that he didn't show this talent earlier. George is a very underrated Beatles, it's true
I'm not crying... you're crying. This song is both so peppy, yet so, sad. This is so wholesome...these boys have real brotherly love for one another :)
I love how George wasn’t as close to John as Paul but he was the one who sang a song about him passing. And I hope they are sing there beautiful music in haven

I wish time travel existed so I could call the cops on the bastard who shot him dead
John was very trusting. The jerk even requested his autograph just hours before he shot John. JL loved living in NYC, and was just coming back to the public.
Loved! Thank's George ,you are the.most compositor!
A beautiful song about male brotherhood. Truly moving
Good Song & Tribute. ❤
Rest In Peace, John & George. 🕯
Stay Safe. 🙏 God Bless.
Great video. We were lucky they became a band. They were lucky they had each other. Beautiful tribute.
Many dont know that George wrote most of the songs. He didnt sing lead much, but when he did. . . ....whew.
I don't know about most, but in the later years he truly did shine with some classics
Paul wrote a tribute song to Lennon called Here Today. It’s on his Tug of War album.
So great to see these brilliant young men again Oh what a sad loss
Watching this makes it almost feel like they are still with us.
RIP lads.
