This goes for all platforms, I would love to see a separate webpage or category for new content creators. I've noticed this on RUclips and Twitch, it's very difficult to find new creators without going through all of the already established content creators first.

Your content always inspires me because you always try to have a conversation with your viewers. Iv'e been a loyal twitch streamer for almost 6 years now and seeing how much things have derailed has been incredibly heart breaking because all I have ever wanted is to have an amazing community on Twitch, but I just never had that experience. Ever since I started my RUclips channel, I finally found the community I was looking for and a lot of them (srsly so many ppl from youtube come into my twitch stream) want to hang out with me enough to put up with the ads and BS on twitch because it used to be the only platform I streamed on. Now I have been multi streaming on youtube and other platforms and it's made my community a lot happier. We all wish RUclips would make the chat experience better, but many of them have expressed it's better than getting pushed so many ads on twitch and it makes them happier knowing the money they donate to me actually has the majority of it going to ME and not to the platform itself. I've always said that Twitch is like a Pimp because all they do is slap us around with a bunch of nonsense, overwork us until our mental and physical is on the brim of breaking, and to make matters worse, they take half of our income that we worked so hard to get. It's bizarre because the only other streaming websites that have a similar business model to Twitch are adult streaming websites (youtube tos pls dont ban my comment im trying to be educational). It is very weird how Twitch doesn't take advantage of Amazon's features to monetize the website more and it's sad to see that a website that used to bleed purple is now bleeding red.
This really hits home with me as someone who began building a community that supported each other's mental health through peer support and gaming, and now that the platform is like this that experience has become diminished. Only really working well on Discord or other social media. I'd love to see Twitch come back and support the people who love to create on it. It was a platform that inspired me to chase a dream that led me to a career I love and that will always be true, but times have been tough. I'm glad you diversified and found your people on YT! Good community is hard to find anywhere and they only flock to good people. Keep it up!
I would love people to talk about Amazon's silent role in this. They've owned Twitch since 2014 and Twitch have never been as profitable as Amazon has wanted them to be, so I think these moves are Amazon trying to make Twitch profitable without having a clue about what the fuck they're doing. I think this is a big part of why Emmet Shear left, because he was being blamed for stuff out of his control but was actually in Amazon's control.
Amazon has a live streaming program for influencers, and Twitch is actively seeking non-gaming content. This seems like a no-brainer option for Twitch to help creators generate new revenue streams while diversifying their content - and doing it in a way other platforms simply can’t compete with.
I can't even get the vertical plug-in to not make my OBS freak out lol. I had to Uninstall the plug in entirely just to go live in my normal mode. But that was the same week he announced the plug in
@@BlackBeard_Gamez same. I don't even have 1000 followers on TikTok. I tried it with Instagram. Had to renew the stream key every hour so that's a bit of a letdown. I now use the plugin for recording.
I think a greta option for twitch, instead of trying to implement the "only use 3% rule" is offer another tier to partner like partner plus, where you use a set stream format provided my twitch, and as part of that they can sell their own ad space (banners, alerts sponsors) and as part of that partner plus - you get a wage or some form of compensation. That way twitch can literally go to advertisers and sell ad space on streamers streams and you have streamers sign up to it, rather that force it across the board. You opt in to the format (kind of like how sponsored streams work already) but its more of a contract for a set time, with set hours to stream etc. Provides another option for content creators and twitch can provide all the data for the ad space they are selling. What do you think?
I actually used the alerts and found them really well put together and reliable aside from putting another overlay into obs. I rather liked them and the customizability of them
So i tried the new Alerts on Twitch, and well yes it is mostly all the same thing you can get anywhere else. one thing i have found with the Twitch alerts is the ability to set raid alerts based on what channel is raiding! allowing me to make custom alerts for when friends raid!
Id like to see you go on stream and talk with Dan 1 on 1 and bring up these problems and see what he could do since he is the CEO of twitch. It would also be interesting to see what new things could be coming to twitch
A lot of great suggestions here! I have found it odd how there is no Amazon affiliate integration on Twitch. Clips being a serious VOD platform within Twitch could be huge. I need to check out your vertical plugin, looks cool! I've really wanted to dig into pulling out clips from my streaming stuff (on a different brand than this account), but it's such a huge time investment.
8:29 "You aren't wrong you are just way off." I joke. xD But all in all great ideas. I may start committing to RUclips until Twitch make life on their platform better or at least just as good as competing platforms. They aren't the King anymore they need to start showing they can still be a great place to stream. Ads are over intrusive and their partner program is nothing more that a tick next to your name.
the idea for having a tiktok-type feature where you can use twitch's new clip editor to post your clips to a feed directly on twitch is SUCH a good idea, id LOVE to scroll for hours watching streamers funny moments!
great points. Things I'm pulling from this is to not let platforms put me in a box. Shutting off stream was still the better choice regarding the staffer hijacking your chat..
There are so many ways Twitch could add revenue to the streamer and platform. Donations direct in twitch and not a third party. Merch store. Make ads skippable, remove twitch nitro, make the ads like RUclips, affiliate with Amazon as you said. And adding vertical clip browser as well. And stop restricting people from multi streaming!
For 6:22 I created an Twitch Uservoice Idea a couple days ago that is at nearly 400 votes. If this gets even more votes hopefully they implement something like this.
There needs to be at least a 70/30 split of subs for me to not look for better options. In general I am sure Twitch would make more with a 70/30 split because streamers will push more for subs rather than donations
I wonder how Twitch will analyze and detect if you are multistreaming to Twitch & YT/Kick - like id be willing to try it as i barely stream on twitch anymore. But I wonder what their process is and if it results in immediate ban (middle of your stream) or a after stream ban. Either way Twitch is abysmal to watch some days, i get anywhere from 4 to 9 ads on streams.
The vertical video clips thing is a huge amount of revenue and viewership just sitting and rotting away... so many areas for discoverabilty and monetization that already exist on other platforms, that they could have made easier and more accessible on Twitch but yet, they resort to limiting their own creators rather than supporting them.
I currently multistream to Twitch and RUclips since the beginning of the year and am an affiliate on Twitch. I don't make anywhere near enough of an impact for Twitch to even notice me at the moment but I'm not quiet about it either. About a year ago I believe, I was reading former Twitch staff state how that rule for affiliates was never enforced and at most in rare situations would result in losing affiliate status. At that time, I stopped caring about being a Twitch affiliate as it wasn't my primary income and it was rarely benefiting me anyway. For that reason, I was under the assumption that it didn't matter if I was multistreaming or not because Twitch didn't care, so I decided to do it because I was wanting to for a long time. This sudden change also makes me feel like they've changed their mind and will start enforcing this soon. I don't plan to stop, though. So if I get banned or anything from Twitch as a result, I will let you know.
11:00 minutes "Build something cool" totally agree, we pay them 50% of our earnings across the board, and they also make money from our supporters, by selling the Subs and bitties in the first place. They double dip, and we end up with sub-par products, and an overbearing Corporation who throws a tantrum whenever we look at the green grass over the fence!.
i switched to streaming on RUclips, never looking back. Twitch had a type of a community that really participated in streams, BUT long term it just is horrible. My streams on RUclips are actually discoverable and the vods double in views after the stream is over. I was an affiliate on Twitch and switched so that's saying something. Creatives are seeking a long term realtionship/investment and Twitch is way behind and out of touch at the moment.
The problem with Vertical plugin and it’s not even their fault, but tiktok is pushing all of us streamers to their live studio software. They are getting rid of stream keys. I want to use OBS not TTLS, it’s terrible. I wish Vertical had a virtual camera option.
It's wild that Twitch still doesn't really do anything with clips. It could be as simple as having different clips play similar to scrolling through tiktok
The simple fact that they can't come up with your presented ideas or anything similar means that the people in charge of these roles either don't care or are incompetent at their jobs. Both being terrible.
Hey Harris, I actually just did my first multi stream using Vertical, which was excellent. Definitely going to test Twitch’s dumb rule change. Only issue I’m having is getting Touch Portal to work with it (got a plug-in, but nothing appears in drop downs inside TP for scene/source/etc changes. Once I get that figured out, this is going to be A++ so thanks to you and the team over there for that tool.
I quit being an Affiliate last year and now have the freedom to multistream on Twitch, RUclips and others without restriction. Creatively and community wise it's very liberating and you can have pockets of followers chatting whatever platform you're on.
Harris, once again you hit the nail on the head. I would say that Twitch has pretty much put the nail in the coffin for me though. Time and time again they just seem to be moving more towards the money hungry/we dont care about streamers look. So I am going to just focus all of my content towards Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, RUclips, and of course......KICK.
I cant believe what happened!! it wasn't a "big deal?" It was most def was & is totally disrespectful & disgusting for a TWITCH employee to barge into your OWN personal stream. It wasn't like you went to them & confronted TWITCH. I give you mad respect for how you handled it when it happened. I know I would've reacted much differently. But, I am a hot head. LOL. And since some simp seems TRIGGERED by my last reply to a video of YOURS, I decided to add to this VIDEO REPLY & TRIGGER a person who hates words with CAPS & felt the need to reply about it.
It's pretty great how Twitch feels they need to heavily profit off money viewers are trying to give to creators while also having a weird ad policy for a Live Service product based around active communication. It is my favorite how they put little to no money taken from creators towards increasing discoverability for creators of any size. My favorite thing is that Twitch seems to want to be more like the traditional, dying media (TV), by interrupting streams with video ads. Not like we all moved away from TV to use services with no ads like Netflix and Hulu. Even Twitch Turbo which they raised the price of, instead of better advertising it or improving its features.
*"You're way off", but I won't tell you what you're off about, I'll just keep arguing with you on stream without making any actual points. :P You handled it well. He refused to tell you what you were wrong about. First time I've seen Twitch actively troll/gaslight someone. "I didn't say you were wrong", I just said you were "way off" :P
I watch your Vids ALOT! just never comment too much; BUT i will say as a younger person than me, your aspect, and thought process of solutions for the problem are very easily consumable. VEry Business savvy and your opinions/solutions are very relatable and respectable. Keep it Up and Thank you for this video!
Maybe you could have a call with Luke Lafreniere from LTT/Floatplane. Considering he’s the main manager at Floatplane he has quite a good knowledge of the backend for streaming services like RUclips and Twitch. Plus he’s quite open about the cost and difficulties of running such a platform on the WAN show. I know you’ve done similar style videos in the past, that’s what made me think of it.
That's one hell of a video I would watch... some sort of round table / brainstorm session with Harris & Luke (and even other people too... why not) about what we could call a "rethinking" of the whole streaming ecosystem.
Not only browse-able clips, but Twitch needs browse-able highlights as well. Imagine the revenue Twitch could bring in from just clips and highlights, keeping viewers on the platform for longer periods. Also Twitch needs to add the ability to edit the length of a clip in their new vertical editor.
If Twitch added a shorts feature it would MASSIVELY help discoverability. Provided by an algorithm on which streams you watch and what games they play.
Everytime you open a new twitch channel to get to know a new streamer, you have to watch 30s AD BEFORE you can even see the face of the person, you automaticaly close the tab and go back to watch your usual subbed streamer, not because the quality, just to avoid the AD... this happen to me everyday for real
8:30 I can see them again saying 'you're wrong. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm not telling you why you're wrong. You're not wrong, I never said you were, you're just wrong'.
I have to say that Twitch Alerts are the most reliable that I have used so far... I have bounced between various options, but the Twitch alerts are the best I have used ...However pretty much everything else that they have done recently has made me rethink my future on twitch after being on the platform for 5 years.
My initial reaction to RUclips easing the requirements to some parts of monetization was that it was a direct shot over Twitch's bow. YT just made it easier for people with a decent following on Twitch to port over their streams and get access to what Twitch has compromised. Not being a streamer; however, I don't know much of a direct response that action is. So far, this is the only channel I was expecting to respond to RUclipss monetization changes that haven't posted a video yet. It requires a bit more nuance I guess...
Granted that I am a really small streamer, but I was hesitant to become affiliated because of the multi-stream rule (among other things). But I went into the program, and then I decided to just multi-stream anyway. If they wanna ban me from twitch for that reason, so be it. I have enough reasons not to be loyal (THE GOD DAMN PRE-ROLL ADS?!) as it is!
If they would utilize clips and have a vertical version for mobile, it would create insane discoverability. Being able to stream on TikTok is help so many creators pave a path into a new career. Twitch is really missing out on a huge opportunity
I Multi Stream to twitch and RUclips. As much as I love twitch and the community, I almost wish they’d find me, ban me, and then the bandaid would be ripped off and I’d have to move to RUclips.
Native Twitch alerts would be so beneficial to people that are new to the streaming world. I know many people that streamed from their console because they didnt have a PC when they started. I was also one of them. It was so frustrating to not have alerts because I couldnt afford a PC. They could change that for everyone.
All great points Harris. Wish they'd watch this video and take it to management. Twitch is notorious for mismanagement and one department not talking to another. That's not me knowing hidden information, you can see it as they react to their own announcements. It's wild. I love some of the new features they're adding, but there's no proper implementation or meshing with other features they have. Until Twitch management becomes more unified they'll never improve, and due to that Kick or RUclips will eventually become the defacto place to stream. Recent RUclips announcements are making waves right now lol
I think the greatest problem Twitch faces is its own monetization. Users simply don't want to sit through advertisements. Just in this video I skipped the entire ad chapter because, I don't want to be the product. When I am sent to a new streamer and I get hit with a wave of ads, I leave that new stream that I might love, because I have to sit through one to eight minutes of ads. I have no interest what-so-ever in browsing livestreams from people I don't know. And Twitch doesn't appear - from a user's perspective - to care.
Twitch has the best market for live streamers and still feel safe on twitch, they have to do something to retain viewers and streamers, if they want they can do a lot, a good business also means retaining clients even if they have to handle some loss, hope twitch read this.

Keep it up!
You handle this like a boss. You think they would respect you a little more seeing how much you do for the community
I LOVE that you are promoting Sizzle!! I’ve been using them since they almost started and I absolutely love them!
Amazon has a live streaming program for influencers, and Twitch is actively seeking non-gaming content. This seems like a no-brainer option for Twitch to help creators generate new revenue streams while diversifying their content - and doing it in a way other platforms simply can’t compete with.
I multistreamed for a long time and never got in trouble. I recently stopped just in case though.
Hey Harris, please forward to the right people: THANK YOU for making the vertical plugin available for Linux.
I can't even get the vertical plug-in to not make my OBS freak out lol. I had to Uninstall the plug in entirely just to go live in my normal mode. But that was the same week he announced the plug in
@@BlackBeard_Gamez i've used it since day 2 (at day 1 the linux download link was broken) and it works just great.
@@JanJanJanJanJanJanJanJanJan2 I'm gonna try again... I'm still trying to build my following enough to even get a TT stream key
@@BlackBeard_Gamez same. I don't even have 1000 followers on TikTok. I tried it with Instagram. Had to renew the stream key every hour so that's a bit of a letdown. I now use the plugin for recording.
Bro is literally making a list of how to help Twitch be better, and their staff will come in and say "sorry you're way off" 😂
I think a greta option for twitch, instead of trying to implement the "only use 3% rule" is offer another tier to partner like partner plus, where you use a set stream format provided my twitch, and as part of that they can sell their own ad space (banners, alerts sponsors) and as part of that partner plus - you get a wage or some form of compensation.
I want to see one of two things, I want to see twitch innovate to compete with youtube and tiktok. or I want to see RUclips become bearable.
You made some very valid points, they should let you be head of the creative team at Twitch. They REALLY need to step up there game!
Harris be giving twitch bussiness strategies FOR FREE
8:29 "You aren't wrong you are just way off." I joke. xD
But all in all great ideas.
I may start committing to RUclips until Twitch make life on their platform better or at least just as good as competing platforms. They aren't the King anymore they need to start showing they can still be a great place to stream. Ads are over intrusive and their partner program is nothing more that a tick next to your name.
Really appreciate the clarification of how you’re doing after the incident, and that you kept your productive attitude here.
the idea for having a tiktok-type feature where you can use twitch's new clip editor to post your clips to a feed directly on twitch is SUCH a good idea, id LOVE to scroll for hours watching streamers funny moments!
great points.
Amazing vid, the browsing clip idea is sooo obivous and would help out twitch a TON, why don't they just do it, I can't wrap my head around it
There needs to be at least a 70/30 split of subs for me to not look for better options.
Twitch is full corporate now, so I don't see improvement like this happening.
Harris discussing Twitch's terrible ad implementation: RUclips plays 2 unskippable ads in the middle of the conversation.
It's wild that Twitch still doesn't really do anything with clips. It could be as simple as having different clips play similar to scrolling through tiktok
The simple fact that they can't come up with your presented ideas or anything similar means that the people in charge of these roles either don't care or are incompetent at their jobs. Both being terrible.
damn this man took being the bigger person far as twitch are so far in the wrong with what they did to him bravo. keep up the good work
I love all of these ideas, but I think if anything the 50/50 split gets dealt with last.
Some really good constructive and professional feedback. Thanks Harris!
I'm glad Twitch reached out to you about it!! I'm glad it created some good dialogue.
You handled that situation so professionally then, and continue to now. Really well said, Harris.
Always great content bro! I can tell you’re a streamer I would hang with irl and even though you’re big you still care about the people :)
Great video bruv. Twitch is definitely a dumpster fire. Quite a few streamer friends I know have left for kick because of these changes.
Dude...THEY NEED TO HIRE YOU instead of getting on your streams talking trash. Wow man...this is why I'm subbed to you!!!!
Legit, the native alerts is such a good point that would help a lot of entry level streamers.
Having a choice of what type of ads get shown would be huge, just like YT does.
I have bounced between various options, but the Twitch alerts are the best I have used
...However pretty much everything else that they have done recently has made me rethink my future on twitch after being on the platform for 5 years.
TikTok split is worse. 60 for TikTok/40 for streamers
Twitch is really missing out on a huge opportunity
seth gonna lose his mind over this one
I Multi Stream to twitch and RUclips. As much as I love twitch and the community, I almost wish they’d find me, ban me, and then the bandaid would be ripped off and I’d have to move to RUclips.
Native Twitch alerts would be so beneficial to people that are new to the streaming world. I know many people that streamed from their console because they didnt have a PC when they started. I was also one of them. It was so frustrating to not have alerts because I couldnt afford a PC. They could change that for everyone.
"I want to enjoy it again." I think that's the simple message all of us would like to send to Twitch :(
You're a good lad. Twitch could learn a lot from ya. Hopefully they will at some point, but also, worried they never will.
Love these type of vids Harris!
It’s so frustrating that everytime one of your videos is about to end I say yo myself: “happy streaming”.
Keep up the good work.
Recent RUclips announcements are making waves right now lol
still can’t believe they made multistreaming against TOS. seems like total desperation, like you said
I think the greatest problem Twitch faces is its own monetization.
I'm with you and the other commenters below, allowing a twitch staffer to abuse their power in that way is unacceptable.
Thanks Harris! Great points🙌🏼🙌🏼
Twitch has the best market for live streamers and still feel safe on twitch, they have to do something to retain viewers and streamers, if they want they can do a lot, a good business also means retaining clients even if they have to handle some loss, hope twitch read this.
