When I was little we lived in Seattle for a few years. On friday afternoons, when my dad would get home from work, we would load the tent ad camping gear in the car and go up into northern washington and British Columbia . Learned to fly fish for salmon on the Snake river. Bucket list trip to go back up there sometime.
It had to be our yearly trip to Osoyoos Bc, Canada as a kid. Made so many friends and even made plans to camp with other families that came from across Canada. It’s one thing I’ve been proud to do with our kids as well. We do a mix of glamping in our trailer but also pack our Jeep with a tent last summer and took it across Alberta. Some amazing memories and pictures
As a kid getting all of the family and neighbors together and camping. Fishing all night. Waking up to the zips of the tent and the ladies talking while cooking breaks. Mmm the smell of 🥓 mmmmm
Been watching since she was a little thing. Gosh she has grown so much. I'll have to be honest, my life took a turn, sold my 4R, my Polaris Rzr, when my daughter, who is around her age, decided she wanted to start barrel racing on horses. So, we've gone from an off-road Daddy/Daughter pair...to a couple of horse "experts"! Let me just tell you...overlanding is cheaper than owning a horse! But, I am embracing the change.
Caroline better listen to that Alan Jackson song "Drive"...and realize how lucky she is to have parents who teach her at this young age to drive...I was driving boats and golf carts at her age, but this is very cool indeed!!!
Really enjoyed this one as Miss Caroline shines in her cooking and just letting her perfect personality come out. Know you two had a blast and certainly made wonderful memories!
It’s crazy to think how long I’ve been watching this channel, she was so little when I first started watching. I’m glad she’s still loving this lifestyle! Awesome videos as always. We have only just dipped out toe into this scene with our wrangler, nothing nearly as awesome as this but it’s been great!
Love y’all’s videos!! We are looking at getting a trailer also! I love seeing y’all’s in videos. We are a family of 4 plus a dog so space is tight in our vehicle
As an off road dad with a 4Runner and a 4 year old daughter, I thought it was really awesome when she said she plans to get a Jeep. Proud dad moment for sure.
Looking fwrd to this I have Been Benj watching your videos I just picked up a 2020 Toyota Trd off road premium for my wife I have a 2018 Chevy high country we are looking to sell out and start our journey soon you guys are an inspiration truly best wishes from Amarillo texas
It’s such a blessing to be able to get outdoors for father/daughter time like this. We’ve said it before, but we love the inspiration you provide for others. Thanks again for sharing :)
An overland trailer makes life so much easier than playing gear Tetris when packing for a trip. After we we got our trailer, packing went from 4 hours trying to fit everything in (and on top) of the 4Runner to 30 minutes and the same goes for unpacking.
Kevin, Caroline Takes after her mom in her manners and snappiness, talks like her as well, Everything in life is taught you and Sarah do a wonderful job. Epic clips per usual Kevin, I'm about to purchase a 23 4 runner orp! gotta say your channel over the years has been inspiration. that and many ways. Cheers Steve
Loving your amazing connection between you guys 🙂 And my God Caroline is growing up 😊 She’s cool with her “snappy” comments 😂 Btw.. loved your funnel to put diesel on the heater😂😂😂 Thought that looked like it has a totally different usage????😉 Woman’s tool ain’t it??
So many favorite camping memories, I have so many but one sticks out: 1980, my mom and I drove to Hallett, OK from St. Louis for an SCCA road race and we camped out in the back of the family Chevy Citation. Back seat down, hatch open, some blankets and a warm spring night. So out of character for my mother who’s idea of being outdoors was the walk between the car and her job in a mall! I was 15 and we laughed and had a blast.
Caroline is friggin awsome all around. It's been great watching her grow up for the last, what, 5+ years now ? I started watching before covid so, sheesh. She's beautiful, and smart, and that sparkling personality, and pretty much everything you could want in a kid. Where do I get one like this ? Bonus : eating raw pizza dough, and hates mushrooms ! Pluses in my book. =)
Excellent video! I'll be doing a weekend trip with my daughter this year, we will DEFINITELY be trying out the toasted rice Krispy treats! And congrats on the new addition to your family! We've loved watching Caroline grow through the years, can't wait to watch the new little one grow as well!!!
One of our 2 1/2 grand kids is starting to drive this year, 😬😳. Kinda cool, but a bit scary. The other 1/2 grand baby due in two months (April 1)😊😃. Anyhow, great video, we spend a lot of time in this area!👍 Looks like you guys had a great time!!
Spending 2 weeks just about every summer in the UP of Michigan. We would camp in rustic only campgrounds or right on the beach of one of our beautiful lakes. Spent the days exploring the waterfalls and going to Mackinac Island . Still head up there whenever we have the chance.
@@LifestyleOverland Well you guys inspired us to go explore out west so maybe we can return the favor. We ended up making 3 different trips. 1st one we took the northern route mid-summer through Michigan and all the way west until we hit the ocean. 2nd trip was in Dec and went south through Texas and over to the Grand Canyon. And third was in April through mid-US and ended up in Moab. Going straight South this spring until we hit decent temps from MI to ? (suggestions? )... We never have a planned route just a direction and keep ourselves prepared. These days navigating is pretty easy and there's always a hotel if things don't work out lol.
Best camping memory...let's see. If you're talking about tent type camping, then it would have to be when we did a family camp with the Boy Scouts at Bahia Honda Key in the Florida Keys. The mosquitos were sooo bad. All four of us had to sleep in a tent that was just a little too small, and it was really hot. But of the hundred or so camp trips I did as a boy scout, that's the one I always remember. Otherwise, it was the hundreds of nights I spent in the everglades in our camp only accessible by airboat. Of course, now there's numerous trips with my son in the Sierra Nevada. Oh, and congrats on the new arrival. So excited for y'all.
Ok so I have a question about trailers I know utility style overland trailers are super versatile. But what about something more sleep in style. With a bathroom. Cus let's face it. Who wouldn't like a bug free bathroom.
Double check the best before dates on those pizza crush. Don’t know how I ended up getting one that was 2 years past the date. I didn’t start buying until seeing one of Sarah’s cooking videos. Think the trailer is a great idea but also depends on your rig. I have a full size with a 5.5 foot bed. I can store a lot, but the organization goes out the window. This years goal is to better organize the bed as we traveling.
Y'all do get to some epic Utah desert trails i used to drive a big truck through the southwest, but only once did I get to trek the northern Nevada route to Canada from Vegas. I was wondering if Y'all have some trails up there?
We just had our first granddaughter, so this really meant a lot to me. I have two daughters, so I applaud you for taking the time to share your love of the outdoors with her. You are a good Dad. Reply
Yes to trailers.. being that I have a 98 Cherokee size does matter for extended trips.. trailers don't need to be expensive.. build your own or start with a good base .. small box trailer then add what you want or need.. but most of all, get out and enjoy this great country we live in..
Alright Kevin, I was not planning on getting emotional this morning. I remember so clearly when my son started driving from my lap, great memories. PS he’s 31 now. Thanks for a great video and stirring up old memories
With your diesel heater every third day run it on high for 20 to 30 minutes it will help clean the burn chamber when you run it on low it builds up more soot that will help with trouble free run time
Love this so much! I backpacked to and camped in that exact spot below that arch in March last year. This is giving me a good idea for a trip my kids in the spring. 👍🏻👊🏻
Fun video! I bought a diesel heater. When I received it. The mount for the controller was broken. I removed it and used double sided tape to mount it on the unit. Oh...btw. that rice crispy treat idea!!! Awesome!!!
She is growing up fast. I remember watching your first few episodes and she was a tiny girl. Now she is almost a young woman. Time is a crazy thing. It goes by so fast sometimes.
Any kid in their own way, but girls especially, need a dad in their lives. Caroline is going to do well. Bravo Zulu. Also, congratulations on the new little one!
You're like Bunta from Initial D Manga. His son takumi has been doing deliveries for his dad's tofu business during the night in his middle school day. And because one of the best down hill specialist in drifting after he got his license and he drove a Toyota ae86.
What's the best camping memory you have as a kid?

Using nothing but a sleeping bag, ground tent, coleman stove for the first time.
Honestly, it's the simple memories of waking up, starting a fire, and cooking breakfast as a family.

Such an epic life ! Great memories you are creating together :)

.
Marco from Overland X better watch out. He’s gonna have some competition soon.
Mazal Tov on baby Abigail. Regards from Jerusalem!
LoL "Im gonna get a Jeep though"... I think dad had to think carefully about his next words haha
Trailer use video... Yes please
I love that you’re having her drive at a young age. Kids that do stuff become adults that are good at stuff!

Should be a fun experience! We're not partial but Toyota's have been good for us.

It's opposite for us we are a Jeep family and my 12 year old daughter said she wants a Tacoma..lol.. Great seeing the daddy daughter adventures.

Absolutely, it was incredible how much faster and easier it became. Totally worth the trade off in mobility (which wasn't much).
Toasted rice crispy treats. Epic!!

Cooking with Caroline! 👍
"Gonna get a jeep though" lol too awesome
This one had me and the kids cracking up a ton! Caroline is like a mini Sarah and I love it.
Right?! She's one cool kid!
No Jeep Caroline!!!😂
Pizza looked great but that slice is so stressing someone ocd im sure
😂 I watched this with my own OCD in check, lol. Shows she has a creative mindset and a unique perspective!

People wonder why I don't watch television or reality tv shows. It's because I prefer watching wholesome content like this. Another awesome adventure!
Geeze is RUclips getting ridiculous on the adds every 3 minutes. Besides that nice trip
Gosh your kid is hilarious. Loved the face she made when she mentioned making your pizza with mushrooms. Lol
I'll probably make pizza today and so will I! You made it very tasty! 😉👍🏻
luckiest dad in the world, definitely blessed. Here's to more ongoing adventures!
