      Moved over to Melb in ‘08 and been in love with building 4wd’s and getting out into the bush. Going in tomorrow to get Dobinsons Remote Reservoir shocks put in so keen to see how you go with the OME shocks.

    On my 79 I went with Terrain Tamer parabolic leafs and smart coils, and wow what a combination. The parabolic leafs are just awesome. Takes the harshness out of the rears of the 70’s.

      @4WDNewZealand  3 года назад

      Great to hear, You dont see to many Parabolic's arround. What spring rate are you running?
      We've gone with an OME 2" kit with BP-51 shocks, Its night and day from the old stuff.

      @@4WDNewZealand I have 500kg constant load parabolic leafs. From what I’ve seen, even the 700kg leafs gives an awesome ride. I’ve combined with BP-51 shocks as well. The truck drives beautifully.

      Running the 500kg para's in my n70 hilux too, amazing how well they ride, especially when the tray is completely empty!

    Great episode and solo camera work.
    Interesting side on all the gadgets for camping, I've gone the other way, slimming down what I take and it's worked out much lighter and simpler. Few bits and pieces in tubs in the back, fridge chair and swag. I am envious of the coffee setup, good coffee is a must, I just run the good old plunger.

    • @4WDNewZealand
      @4WDNewZealand  3 года назад +1

      Thanks mate. Yes you are right simple is normally better. This setup is overkill for a Solo trip forsure. However the coffee is something I cant sacrifice, if your traveling by car than why not.
      Have you watch our latest SOLO episode, the setup is very different without the trailer

    Gonna be a mint truck bro. In the process of setting up my 80series myself. Took it for its first big adventure on the weekend and had a blast. Lots to work on still but did the job. Check out my latest video if you’re interested lol. Looking forward to see what you do to yours.

    Is the road to the lake accessible for a 4WD Rav4?

  • @shauncarney6838
    @shauncarney6838 3 года назад

    Prob shouldn't be engaging the lockers without letting the tyres down first bro 😂 or using the Max tracks

    • @shauncarney6838
      @shauncarney6838 3 года назад

      You would've made it up that hill if ya had just dropped tyres to 25psi and used more speed/momentum

    • @4WDNewZealand
      @4WDNewZealand  3 года назад +1

      Yes tire pressure is 90% of it, and with them let down I would of probably made it, However at this point the air compressor wasn't wired in yet as the truck was still a work in progress.

    What exhaust u running on ur 76 mate? Thnx

    • @4WDNewZealand
      @4WDNewZealand  3 года назад

      Hey Alex, Its a 3" RedBack exhaust. The 76 is Pre DPF so it 3" from the turbo to the dump, We decided to keep the muffler in for now, but without it shed sound like a real animal.
      Saying that she still makes a good note when you feed it.

    How about locking nuts and loctite by the trailer builder ? Poor workmanship

    • @4WDNewZealand
      @4WDNewZealand  3 года назад

      Its more a case of checking your equipment when driving long stretches or harsh roads.
