- This time I am exploring along the road through Te Urewera, alongside Lake Waikaremoana. One of my favourite places in NZ.

Fab in 70s, all flashed up now
Reminds me of a few trips to the lake. We did a night drive from muripara. Cool cos you could see the lights of the oncoming traffic.What was hard to see were the horses on the road. Beautiful.
Family and home. I miss waikaremoana.
Beautiful, the place I grew up in,did a scihool camp around the lake,and I agree the most beautiful place in the world.

Awesome Sam brought back a few memories one in particular I had called in to meet up with a mate who done a lot of fishing he had his boat there and we were going to go out on it. We were sitting down having a beer when this bloke came past and said he was just down by the lake watching so idiots boat sink. So we though cool a bit of entertainment. Turned out to be my mates boat a bung had worked loose...Bugga did not end up going fishing that trip...

only visited back about 5 times
Cool car camper setup, fun roadie. I did that track when it was DOC control, certainly don't remember the road being in that condition.

How do you find the Subie off road compared to other "real 4WDs" like a Hilux surf? Is it limiting in what you can do?
Howdy, there are situations where there is no comparison, a 'real' 4sd is like the surf is much better in the tougher stuff, rocky or rutted tracks. But the Subi is so much nicer on road, and still decent off-road, it's a great all rounder. Am planning on tackling some more serious tracks with it in the near future. Also the Subi is one of the best vehicles I've driven on sand.
Hi interesting video, I'm planning a trip to go there for great walk, the road condition looks challenging, do u think a small two wheel drive car can go through? Thank you, cheers
The main Waikaremoana road will be fine in a 2wd, oncoming traffic is the main thing to watch for.

Yep The road might be shit but the beauty of the land is breathtaking never trayed it for any thing money means nothing when you got that 😊😊😊😊
