fun fact: in memory 4 you actually play as michael, because his overall plan was to kill scott so he has a family. So he made a deal with the animatronics, because they both wanted him dead. In basement the free'd animatronics talk to michael via tv, helping him through the levels, the endos are haunted and are againts michael (bassically protecting Scott) you can tell that its the animatronics through what they say ;)

Honestly the "don't look back" hallway is what scares me the most in the game. For one, the way the endo moves towards you as fast as a goddamn bullet is horrifying, and makes me jump even when I know it's going to happen. And secondly, the simple instructions of "don't stop, don't look back" tends to trigger our curiosity. Pretty much every let's player who played the game turned around pretty much instantly. Some players just wanted to see what would happen (even though it's obvious), but some also doubted these instructions. Despite the game never once being wrong or lying to you, for some reason a lot of us tend to think "yea right" when we're given instructions as straightfoward as that.
So basically, I think it's the scariest part because it sorta plays with your brain a bit, and challenges not only curiosity, but also how we trust the instructions given to us in certain contexts

    • @mmmmythical
      @mmmmythical Год назад +62

@@Zoxiry yeah, pretty much. The game does lay all the pieces out but the way the level is staged with that opening cutscene and you waking up afterwards in the bathroom it does make you wonder what’s real and what’s not and if you are still playing as Scott. But if you are then the whole experience could be dismissed as a dream, which undoes the impact of Creation’s, well, creation, since it doesn’t answer how it was made IRL.
But what really seals the deal is Scott wakes up in the attic to find himself tied up, yet last we see the player’s character in the basement, they are coming up from the stairs, which is a major discontinuity with the story if that character is intended to be Scott. This always bothered me when looking back on playthroughs online since the two levels seemingly don’t connect. But if we are to believe you play as Michael in the basement, it not only fixes this discontinuity but it also explains why you (so willingly) are helping to build creation in the furnace. That last part of the basement is definitely intended to be 100% real (you can see it on the camera in the attic) so it can’t not be Michael. Scott wouldn’t walk up the stairs to then wake up in the attic and find himself tied up again. And we know that is the only section of gameplay from the basement that is without a doubt real because it resembles the scene from the opening cutscene, whereas the rest could be dismissed as a vision, metaphor, or nightmare of some sort.
Which does beg the question of how real the basement segment truly is, and that remains unanswered in the story. Is Michael having his own nightmare? Is Scott’s basement this demented? I think this question is avoided to preserve the horror and allow the basement to shift about just like how the other game segments generally depict a loss of sanity as a defiance of time and space. Definitely a bit of a cop-out but it is what it is. My theory, and tbis isn’t game canon or anything, is that Michael is connected to Ennard in Scotts games so perhaps the building of a nightmarish being like Creation is a bit of a body-horror experience for him since he has to relive the disturbing experience of his being scooped. Perhaps Creation comes to life because it is literally forged in the fires of a demon’s terrors. Idk, just a thought. Hope this helps

Now here is the funny thing about the story. Your explanation of it is how it is presented on the surface level. The final story (while not adding too much else) what you didn't grasp and the details of the story the game doesn't make entirely clear that were actually revealed by Nikson himself make the story really unique to me! Basically, it takes place in the "real world," and Scott (not Cawthon) is a game developer who created horror indie franchise Five Nights at Freddy's.
On one fateful night, Scott and his family are attacked by demonic presences taking the shape and form of Freddy and the gang, as well as Michael Afton. What I'm getting at is that Nikson explained that the Ignited Animatronics are demonic entities called "doppelgangers." Demons that feed on suffering fear, taking the physical forms of those fears or scary things (aka the characters from Five Nights at Freddys in this game) and killing whoever they seek to "replace." Michael is not REALLY Michael Afton, and the ignited are NOT REALLY Freddy and crew, Michael is a "doppelganger" who wants to live a normal human live and seeks to replace Scott and use his physical body as a host. The "Ignited" are doppelgangers who simply wish to spread fear and suffering, and they take the forms of the Freddy's characters after seeing the fear it put into the fans of the franchise. This is why Nick goes into a monologue about the "influence of FNAF on the world" before the office level.
Essentially the basement level is canonically THE FIRST PIECE OF THE STORY. The basement (true to form) is actually taking place in hell or the "underworld" and has the doppelganger demons who eventually become the ignited, making a deal with the demon who will eventually take the form of Michael to basically kill Scotts family and allow him to attack and replace Scott, if he allows them passage to the world above. The world of the living. Hence why the basement is structured like a set of escape rooms and why the endos (referred to as "The Fallen") are trying to kill you. They are other demonic presences, trying to stop this deal from going through and "Michael" and the ignited from escaping to the world above.
(Btw, little side note, the whole doppelganger demon's thing also explains why the version of Freddy and the gang in this game are referred to as "The Ignited" due to burns afflicted upon them when trying to breach the barrens of the underworld and safely pass into the real world with Michael. Which is also why he quote "looks like he came out of a bonfire" to Scott's wife in one cutscene and in the opening. He literally came from hell.)
Anyway, the newspapers talking about "evil twins" and other house fires and arson attacks in the area near Scott's home, little bits of dialogue, as well as the entirety of the basement level and what the "eyes" on the tv screens are saying to Michael isn't just meta non-sense. It turns out this FNAF game is about demons who take the form of characters from the franchise in order to enact a violent attack on Scott's (remember NOT Scott Cawthon) family home, only to separate a family, burn down a home, and leave Scott alone with Michael so that the demon can replace him and take on his familial lifestyle. All through the perspective of Nick, Scott's Eldest Son, trying to recall the events years after the traumatizing attack.
All of this info was revealed by Nikson and Phisnom during the 1 Year Anniversary Q&A Video for the game a few years ago. And to me, it actually makes the game really cool. On the surface, it's a silly meta narrative that uses FNAF and its character as a place name for a silly story that isn't all the serious. But it turns out, we just didn't get the full picture (because the game unfortunately doesn't really show or explain any of this, its left vague and was misread when the game first came out.) and when Nikson finally revealed the true story, I went back and played the game again, to find out, this was the story from the beginning, we just (due to a lot of circumstances at the time of release) thought very little of the story and wrote it off as "Scott is who we play as in this game?! WOAH POGGERS COOL META STUFF" when its surprisingly a lot darker and more unique for a FNAF Fan Game, as the gameplay and everything else about this game already is.
So, at least to me, even the story of this game is not something to write off or disregard. It's just unique as everything else this game has to offer as a FNAF Fan Game!
Thank you for coming to my TED-Talk. 💙

Some things to note that you may not have known that I would either like to highlight and/or to clarify:
•Each night has a mini cutscene that occurs if you fail or die in a certain way with each one ending with flashes of Golden Freddy with the text “Come Back” except for Night 5 doing “…”
•Night 4 of the long hallway actually has it where an Endo will at fast speeds chase you down the hallway to where if you even stop for a moment then you may not even make it to the door in time as you just hear the endo getting closer and closer. You however did not encounter this cause you didn’t stop or turn around at all but yeah it may be pretty easy but it’s still pretty easy to mess up as well
•Night 3 has an objective of making it to 6 AM *BUT* you MUST flash Freddy a certain amount of times before the end of the night or else instead of getting the victory you will instead be treated to a power out scenario like in FNaF1, complete with a Freddy playing The Toreador March in the dark
•Golden Freddy can actually kill you in Night 5 where a giant floating head (FNaF2 style) can at times be seen behind you in the hall and if you look at it for about 3-5 seconds then you’ll instantly die to Golden Freddy
•Most if not every night has a secret Golden Freddy appearance somewhere with most nights having it where he can only be found in a certain location while the phone call is on and successfully finding Golden Freddy will spawn somewhere in the room a piece of paper for the story
•In Night 5, the Golden Freddy plushie will actually glitch out the more you flash Golden Freddy on the cameras, almost like a little indicator of your progress on defeating them and making it through the night
•Most, if not all, of the nights have a unique visual that occurs usually when approaching near the end of the night where the environment will look more corrupt such as in Night 2 making the room darker and red while having the designs on the pictures change into an image of the ignited animatronics’ eyes glowing in the dark
•Bit of a nice reference/Easter egg but the area during the cutscene where Freddy attacks and chases Scott throughout the house is based on the original layout and design of the Freddy level in the Joy of Creation: Reborn free roam alpha build of the game.
•And lastly: the Ignited animatronics (and Michael I think as well) are all not the characters that they look like they’re based on but instead are some darker force taking the form and looks of Scott’s creations. It’s something that Scott even says in one of the cutscenes “You are not them- you are just using their faces!” when he was questioning how are they real and who are they and what do they want
It’s nice that people are still talking about this game and how it still holds up to this day, really goes to show how even with its flaws it still has a strong stand even when compared to FNaF fan games nowadays

Something interesting to me, the way Bonnie works in UCN and how the Endoskeletons work in SB have a striking similarity to how they work in TJOC.
Bonnie in UCN will scramble the cameras if you look at them too much, even if it’s for less time and the endoskeletons in SB are literally just doing the same Weeping Angel gimmick that TJOC does with them.

correction for night 4: the basement
    We play as Micheal
    as for the lore:
The Ignited are some sort of entities that can take the appearence of characters from medias (in that case, fnaf characters) their goal is to kill the creator of the character they take form of, to be "immortal", cutscenes and levels are all in wrong order so i'll put it back together:
Basement "Come Back" cutscene: "Micheal" (one of the Ignited) is formed by the fire, taking the appearence if Micheal Smicht (aka: fnaf 1 nightguard)
The Basement Memory: he then wakes up in the bathroom and is instructed who we can assume to be Ignited Golden Freddy, telling Micheal his purpose of existing, to, "Let them out" to do this he needs to do 2 things:
    - Give the Igniteds the "shape" of fnaf animatronics, to do this, he simply burns 4 accesories of the characters.
    - Open the door which leads to "our reality" because in this level Micheal, the Ignited and the Fallen are in some sort of pocket dimension or something like that
Note: The Fallen are entities who failed to maintain their form, they became corrupted and as such, they would attack Micheal dispite the fact they are the same species
Cutscene where Scott meets Micheal for the first time: he resist the urge to kill Scott directly, call out his name, cutscene proceeds
Bedroom memory and Living room memory: We learn that Micheal doesn't want to kill Scott's family because they are irrelevent to their goal, the main Ignited however would kill anything that stands on their path, after the 2 levels, and after the family gets out of the house (minus Scott) at this exact moment, Scott is stuck in a dimension looking similar to his house, which explains*
Office cutscene and memory: *that when Scott opens Nick's bedroom door, it's an empty void instead, for some reason however, Scott "tried" to survive the Ignited multiple times (kinda proved by the recordings in the Office) how and why Scott just has the ability to try as much as WE can to survive is unknown (probably related to meta stuff involving the player's determination or something like that)
Basement cutscene + Attic memory: Scott gets knocked down by Micheal, then brought to the Attic, Micheal explains the Ignited are "merging" to be one, why? Because if one ignited kills Scott, that would mean that ignited would be immortal, not the others, correct? not sure but thats a theory.
Micheal is keeping Scott alive because he know the Ignited or "Creation" wouldn't trust him anymore for helping Scott's family (even tho I said the family was irrelevent in their goal whatsoever), that is also a theory
at the end, Micheal manage to take over Scott's body, killing him, and would "take care of everything from here" but I think that would be obvious already.
For Nick telling us about the story: After the incident, and the house went to ashes, many years passed where fnaf was no more (as well as its creator) the house did got fixed up, and Nick decides to go back in, for good ol' memories? No, because each time we died in a special way (insanity too low in bedroom memory, got jumpscared too many times by Chica in the living room, etc) something told us to "Come Back", that something is Golden Freddy, and that message wasn't for us, it was for Nick, and if you see the cutscene after Golden Freddy's jumpscare in the Attic, you might understand why Nick was told to COME BACK.

TJoC is an interesting one. I can't say I don't like it - the game is great, as a game. The story.. meh, it wasn't needed and it's weird and convoluted (which does fit the series, admittedly), but it works. I have to say, though, that the Ignited aren't my favorite designs. The concepts are there, sure - these burned, extra-withered animatronics sort of in lieu of the Phantoms, but taken in a different direction - but I don't think they pull it off too well, because the missing casing pieces just look far too deliberate. There's no torn remains at the edges, or additional damage to the pieces around where they're missing, it's just whole pieces neatly removed. Freddy, for example, could've had a massive gash going up the left of his head, to tie it into his missing ear, and also give him more character separate to Withered Freddy, but instead he just has the ear missing and little else. Or Bonnie's chest piece, which easily could've had the bottom and perhaps top still there, with a giant chunk in the middle forcibly torn out or just burned through. The good thing about TJoC's designs, though, is that the Ignited aren't the only ones in play. You also have the Fallen - and, as endos, where the weak points are just the joints since those aren't solid metal that would have to break, their designs make more sense when simply losing pieces modularly. The Fallen are amazing designs, some of my favorite I've ever seen - I love the concept of the characters still going after burning, losing their entire casings and only identifiable by select few details. Creation is very unique as well, with the tripod shape and the sort of Mangle-but-intentional style of limbs - he's quite cool to look at. Ignited Goldie is still kind of a 'meh' design for me. Although, that said, I don't have a clue _where_ Angel, the endo Freddy becomes, gets his hands back from since they're missing from Ignited Freddy and Creation ends up with an extra anyways (though I don't think all the Ignited combined even _with_ Goldie would have enough to really make Creation anyways; he doesn't gain his endo parts from their bodies but seemingly from their essences because demons or whatever).
That said, the nights, or memories rather, definitely are incredibly long for a FNaF game. That's not just to make them harder though - that's because each one is basically several nights. Think back to FNaF 1 - while the animatronics did increase in AI level as the night progresses, that doesn't mean they massively increased - they would go up, at most, 2 or 3 levels. And new threats wouldn't really be added - Foxy in the first night technically activates, but it's so late he doesn't really get the chance to make his run. However, as you go, the nights progressively get harder - Bonnie, then Chica activating on the first, then Foxy coming in on the second, and Freddy after that, with everyone ramping up during and after that point. TJoC can't do that, because every 'night' has a different gameplay loop to it, so it has to have longer nights where everyone comes in throughout and ramps up in difficulty throughout the singular night. And during a shorter one, like 5 or 6 minutes, they would do so incredibly quickly. So, ten minute nights. Except Basement, of course, where things are a little different - but I would honestly say Basement is almost comparable to SL in spirit, being a bunch of minigames and scripted encounters while you do this and that until you've accomplished the level's goals - just with more encounters and longer minigames, rather than SL's short minigames and lengthy encounters.
Also, you mentioned not knowing all of Floor 3 of the Basement. If you look back after the message, an endo with no arms and only one eye will rush you from the end of the hallway, easily catching up to you. The endo in question is Red, who is the remains of Foxy and one of the two which charges you from the doors during Attic - the other being Blue, Bonnie's remains, who appears on whatever Floor the one you have to collect stuff in is called, should you stay too long after being told that It Is Not Safe and you must Turn Back (these mean there are indeed four, not three, endos in Attic. All are visible side-by-side if you die during the furnace floor, watching you burn within it). Angel and Mouth - Freddy and Chica respectively, being the 'eyeless Fallen' (who moves unwatched) and the 'sleeping Fallen' (who attacks anything nearby but does not move), are the two on the cameras there.
My favorite fangame will I think forever be Fazbear Entertainment: Storage, which is a great expansion on how FNaF 2 could've been based on FNaF 1's gameplay. Every game has its problems, and it is no different, but it is fun and satisfying - and the visuals there are great, too.

The Fallens may have been the failed attempt of bringing back the original squad from Golden Freddy, the Ignited came back with their bodies still being recognisable, while still getting damaged by the fire as the price to pay, the Fallens however got destroyed far too much beyond recognition

It's crazy how old this fangame is. I used to think it was only popular because it was one of the first free roam fnaf games, but even to this day it still stands as an incredible fangame, not just because of how influential it was. Also, the creator of this game made dark deception which is cool.

Also, fun fact, the Living Room part of the game was used as a demo for the game. The demo of the Joy of Creation was essentially in the Living Room, except you could not get up and walk around. It was classic FNAF style. Sit and look around. I don't think it was exactly the same. There was no real story yet, some mechanics may have been changed, not sure. The only way to see this version I think is through old gameplay videos from Markiplier or something. I don't believe it is still downloadable, but I may be wrong

Aight lemme give yall a run down. Text wall incoming.
In this universe, as described through the secret newspaper clippings, (from finding Golden Freddy in the first 4 levels, and honking the plush nose alot iirc in the attic) there is a forest that Scott lives by where ghostly dopple-gangers are showing up and killing the originals supposedly, in a bubble (supposedly) around the area where they are feeding and burning, so that their actions arent discovered. This is the reason the Ignited animatronics and the fallen endos are in the real world, tormenting Scott.
    Timeline time.
Basement: In this level you play as Michael. This section actually takes place before the bedroom level, and is the reason the animatronics and endos get out. As the words on the screen show, the entities in the dopple-ganger forest make copies, feed on 'The joy of creation' or in this case, the love for the game from fans around the world, and then burn whats left after it all runs out, IE scott and his house etc. Michael is actually a duplicate of scott, and he is tasked with freeing the IGNITED, not the fallen. He burns the objects to give them shape, (their FNaF gang likeness), and eventually when Michael grabs the key, this opens the barrier into the real world letting the ignited free. The fallen endos on the other hand, WERE possible Ignited animatronics, that failed to cross over into the real world. How this explains Golden Freddy, I dont know, hes kinda glossed over as the leader and puppetmaster having his Golden Freddy form already in the basement scene during some hallucinations from Michael. In this level it is implied that Golden Freddy has a 'boss relation' to Michael and making him do his bidding.
The Bedroom, Living room, and Office scenes are just the natural gameplay, not much story going on there, except possible Chekov's gun mechanics being used for Freddy and later Creation and Golden Freddy, with the flashlight in the eyes thing. (Edit: Michael is giving Scott's family tips to survive so that he can live on as Scott and have a family as explained later.)
    Then Attic:
Due to not being able to kill Scott in the office or scotts family, they begin to wither down and start losing their FNaF shape, so with whats left they form Creation, the amalgam, in the basemen as a last ditch attempt to get to Scott.. He has Freddys Face mask, bonnies jaw, chicas feet, and foxys hook and thats all thats left from that point on. As for the endo's, I cant remember, probably the bubble breaking down as explained later. As you begin flashing golden freddy, his plushy keeps getting more static-fied and which can only represent his grip on the bubble that they made for Scott. The flashing in turn causes Golden Freddy to lose control, and the Ignited die, burning with the house. Michael, now free from GF's grip, takes on Scott's identity so he can live with his family since he is a duplicate. But now, since Scott is dead because of Michael, they finish siphoning the Joy of Creation from the world in the FNAF series, and burn the memories of that game and its creator in the minds of all the people who know about FNAF, that is why the levels are called memories and Nick has to 'remember them' by playing the levels. Nick said (i cant remember where) said that no one remembers his dad's old game series, but it is implied that Nick remembers because he got a note from Golden Freddy telling him to comeback, probably to his old house where Golden Freddy can finish off Nick.
Thank you for listening and I hope this answers any details and questions.
