It is currently 3am, and I have been blindly fixing the controller profiles for the last 3 hours. This was the last step in setting up Batocera for what I wanted, and this video took WAY too long to find. Thanks for the guidance 😂
Is there a tutorial out there on getting into some better details with setting up an Xbox PC controller for Wii? I followed your setup for it, but only a couple games are mapped correctly, like street fighter. But if I try to play donkey Kong country, nothing works. I'm trying to get punch out to work too and I can't seem to get any function with my Xbox type controller. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot! By the way, could you please do a tutorial on how to set up wads in Dolphin, like the Mii Maker and such? Several Wii games require the use of Miis and I want to be able to make my own custom set for said games.

This happened to me as well. Two main things: be sure to save a profile under dolphin settings, be sure to turn on "use pad profiles" on batocera settings for the whole gamecube section
I can’t change any of the settings in the application (it doesn’t save and reverts to my previous settings). I was able to get the games to load into widescreen if I launch directly from the application, but it doesn’t work from the main Batocera front end Menu. Moreover, I’ve tried changing advanced settings for the emulator and even game specific settings (force 16:9, widescreen hack, etc) but the games keep coming on in 4:3.
can you do a more in depth video for setting up a real wii mote with that sensor bar? i cant get batocera to detect it at all in game unless its set to setting 3 on the bar, but itll only work as a controller, no motion detection
I would connect the wii mote with dolphin directly if your pc has bluetooth built in. And then use the infrared lights of the bar for motion detection.
Isnt there a way that (if I want) I can EASILY appy the gamecube controller and wii controller settings to ALL of my Dolphin games/roms at once? Or do I really have to go into every single game and copy and paste the controller settings? Thanks for another amazing video as always Batocera Nation.
@5:58 I have GameCube Advanced Settings “Use Pad Profiles” set to ON and some games like Super Monkey Ball 2 default to using my profile configured to a real GC controller (via Switch/Wii USB adpator) without creating a game-specific .INI. But other games like F-Zero GX and Wave Race: Blue Storm require me to create a game-specific .ini to point to this profile - anyone figure out why? UPDATE: figured it out - turns out if you keep an 8BitDo controller connected - guessing Dolphin treats it like player 1 (so this explains why if you manually point Dolphin to your GameCube controller it works). I’m guessing some games (like Super Monkey Ball 2 take input from whatever controller you decide to pick up (even if it’s not player 1?)). In any case, it’s all good in the hood :)
I'm having issues with HOTKEY for EXIT in Dolphin / Batocera. I can configure it for a combo of Select & Start on my Xbox One Controller and it saves in Dolphin. However when I play the game from the Gamecube group in Batocera it doesn't work. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks
Excellent! One question; can you navigate through the entire Batocera interface with only a Wii Remote connected through bluetooth after an initial setup? I'm consdering making a "Wii Mini" out of a mini PC.
I'm not an expert by any means but I think you might be able, check the controller menu on the batocera main menu (if you have a keyboard it should be space by default) and check if the Wii remote is there, if yes map it to control de interface, I doubt it would let you use the motion or the pointing feature but the A and B and the crosspad might do the trick
Wii remote Steam deck problem here : If I boot the games from *dolphin emu config* they work great. But if I boot from the main interface they only acknowledge the steam deck built in controls. What's worse, is it also changes all the "real remote" setting over to emulated every time you boot from here. Any idea where I'm going wrong - or is this a "steam deck is still in Beta thing?."

A bit late but, you can enter the config of dolphin, controller, set your custom control profile and do the thing you see on the video where you point on the game which control use and the profile, it should work fine
There's not a special or unique collection rom folder for those games. I know that some of those games are found in Steam and from Flatpak Steam, you will be able to play with them.

@@BatoceraNation Thank you so much for the response I appreciate it so much. It still didn't work. Hi, I am using Batocera 39, and this does not work, I created a profile using a ps4 controller, saved it, turned pad profiles on option on the advanced menu but every single time i boot a game it keeps getting back to original controls, do you happen to know why?, or is batocera 39 just broken?
No. You‘re doong right. But after you change a profile and before shutting batocera down you need to do a Save Overlay to the Batocera Boot options so it will be there at the next start. Hit F1 for the File Manager, then go to Applications and start „XTERM“. Then type in the command „batocera-save-overlay“ (without the quotation marks). Hit return. It will show you a list of what was done and it should end with „success“. Then just type „exit“. That‘s it.
Do you know if there's a way to play project plus/project M on batocera? It's a famous smash brawl mod that uses homebrew/usb loader/sd card on wii and a custom dolphin emulator on linux/windows to emulate the game above a brawl ISO file. I haven't seen any tutorials to run this on batocera, so I would appreciate if you could try to emulate it (even if it is the offline version) on batocera.
Has anyone experience an issue in which when going out of a game by pressing the hot key and start combo, Dolphin/Batocera are stuck on a completely white screen? I have read all of sort of suggestions (disabling dual core, using vulkan instead of open Gl, etc) but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I have not be able to duplicate this. Best bet is to have a mini keyboard press Alt plus F4, then End Tab, and repeat these steps one last time if it doesn't work the first time.
Any way to keep the CPU from clocking down in Batocera? On Windows I can use the ThrottleStop application and set "high performance" mode because the CPU otherwise wants to not max on the multiplier (Intel Celeron N4120) when Dolphin is running, but in Batocera games on Dolphin perform worse. I'm not looking to overclock. I just want the CPU to stay in high performance mode.
Game bezels I dunno if thats possible but you can use default system bezel where it shows the gamecube image on the sides. For that go to advanced system settings, decorations and select consoles. Normally you'd select default as it does show default image as a gamecube console but for this to work you need to select the consoles option. Usually that will show a default black style custom bezel but again, here it will show the gamecube console bezels. Perhaps a bug I guess.
Thanks for the updated video. Right now I'm curious about how Batocera handles racing wheels/shifter controls. Didn't see anything in the Batocera Wiki but this may be dependent on which Emulator is being used. @@BatoceraNation Okay thanks for the reply, guess it's something I can look into when I have free time, don't have a racing wheel on me right now but if it is doable it may be worth investing in one on Boxing Day..
It's really, really dependent, on both how the emulator in question handles it and how your controller is sending through the signals. This becomes more complicated the further back you go. So, there's no real answer to this aside from just "try it out yourself and see".
