    Big difference in how quiet this bow is compared with the older ones. When we had a club in the 90s a couple guys had them and they were loud, a popping sound when the top limbs would slam down on the bottom limbs. Thank you.

    The brass nocking points are actually not permitted in many archery organizations because of them flying off.

      never heard of that one, and the only time I've seen one come off is if it was put on wrong, or when a compound was dry fired. and on that occasion it also tore out a well tied-in peep and fired it downrange with enough force that it hit the butt and bounced back to strike the archer in the chest.

    When I purchased my Phoenix from you, I had you guys set it up for finger shooting. When I was 'fine tuning' it to my preference for poundage I didn't even think about the let off for fingers. The Arrow rest I was all over, but thinking about it now I think the reason I was probably having the inconsistent results was due to having high let off with finger shooting. As you said, the string just wasn't coming through with that instant snap of power. I payed a visit to your friend in Cavendish and we changed everything to a release aid shooter. Putting in the peep was probably the hardest thing. It shoots amazing, just with a 5 pin sight out to 50 meters. My next upgrade will be to add a scope to it so I can push out to 70 meters. It's got so much Kinetic Power, if I screw a shot up and miss the nice soft yellow centre of the target(shooting outdoors in windy Warrnambool), it can be a 2 person job to get the arrow out, even at 30-40 meters. I can't speak highly enough of Oneida, I just love the bow :)

    Steven, love your videos and specially this one. I do shoot an Oneida as well and love it .... good to see you smile when you try it out again. Let me explain you my simple method to set the drawstop.... you set one of the two drawstops to you draw length by trying and small adjustments...them thigh this one up ...then you open the second one just a little so that it can move by hand and you draw the bow back.... it will push the second drawstop to the exacte same drawlenth you have fixed the first.... then thight the second one as well and you have a solid wall ! Always been tempted with a Kestrel though £950 is a lot to spend. People seem to love or hate them and in the club I'm part of. Only one other archer likes them. Because of Arrow.

    I do now hunting for deer , turkey and also varmint on the farm . I currently use a bear compound . Unfortunately I can NOT shoot with a release since I grew up shooting recurve , so I'm used to shooting fingers. I get chewed out by a few friends because I'm using my fingers and they tell me that I'm going to detail my string. When I saw this bow I thought this would be a perfect hunting bow for finger .

  • @adambartelme3180

    they didn’t choose the bow because it looked cool, when oliver’s original bow broke (it was a recurve) he needed a new bow and the product designers wanted to give him just a normal compound bow but the Green Arrow actor (stephen amell) wanted to keep it as a recurve so he got this one to have to compound bow look but for it to still be a recurve

    • @chrislacey5979
      @chrislacey5979 5 лет назад

      Are you using finger release or release aid? If your using fingers try getting a Nap centre rest (approx $30AU) or another type of flipper rest. I use this on my RPM nitro. Whisker biscuits are fine for release aid and very popular in the US archery community. For further info and guides try Lever Lovers Facebook group, very friendly and helpful community that can help you with your bow Questions. Hope this helps.

      @@chrislacey5979 I am shooting fingers with whisker biscuit. I actually shoot pretty accurate. So may i ask what the reason is why its not recommended?

    • @chrislacey5979
      @chrislacey5979 5 лет назад +1

      @@eslixgaming756 their not recommended because of the archers paradox. Put simply the arrow when released from your fingers pushes towards the riser (body) of the bow. Not having a solid object for the arrow to press against allows for more inconsistent travel and flex within the arrow reducing your accuracy. If a whisker biscuit works for you that's great. If you want to improve your accuracy and consistency look for a flipper type rest and getting arrows with the correct spine flex and length for the poundage your shooting. It really depends on how accurate and consistent you want to be. Myself I use an rpm nitro 50-75 pound bow, nap centre rest, victory. 204 with heavy grain hunting/target tips. I've bolted on my friends whisker before. It's got great advantages for hunting but it doesn't provide anywhere near the consitant accuracy for target shooting. Hope this helps.

    How do you shoot with sights but not a peep??

    • @royescue4127
      @royescue4127 2 года назад

      The old school way is to shoot w/o peep is to 1 have a consistent anchoring point. 2.just look right side of the string at the pin of choice. and shoot. also there is a way that is taught by shooting with both eyes open. It is covered in a very good video on competitive shooting.
      Now as for the many different cable colors mentioned. The colors have nothing to do with choice. All of the cable colors have to do with draw length and power settings in combination with the different power limbs and the short or long outboard limbs. It has nothing to do with the aesthetics of the bow. Ans this goes with all of the Oneida bows from the beginning. The color coding is to tell them apart through out the years.

If you're is really that concerned about it, you can just pick up a set of "Lever Limb Blocks" for $25 to make it quick and easy for ya. Otherwise you can just build a lever bow press yourself out of some plywood and 2×4's. It's stupid easy and anyone can do it, even if you're not one of those "handy" type folks.

    Thank you for the review of this bow.
    But sorry: your shooting with fingers is horrible!
    This should be No offence but help!
    Your shooting with fingers has 2 major problems:
    Your releasing of the fingers is not just relaxing - it is snapping them open... Also you first go with your hand forwards while releasing and after the shot it doesn't help at all to put your hand backwards after that mistake...
    When you are shooting with a Release this doesn't happen. The shot looks really nice.

      To be honest, after shooting a few different bows here and there, my trad recurve is still the nicest i've shot... it has flaws, i'm not going to lie about that, but theres something about shooting a 1 piece recurve albeit with puffball string silencers and a bearhair arrow rest off the shelf that makes me smile. Yeah, all the newer bows, compounds, takedowns, carbon fiber this and that, they're great, but too sterile for me.
