I have the phoenix and shoot rh with lh bow. With a drop away rest. The internet said you can't use drop away rest with oneida bows. Just saying sometimes the internet is wrong. I love shooting it and shoot three fingers. I love it, have a great time shooting it, what else matters 🏹. Great video 👍
A very cool bow and with the arrow rest even better! In case I will go for a compound bow, this Oneida will be my choice, too! Thank you so much for sharing and keep up the fun! 🏹🔆
I was shooting my right handed compound bow left handed thumb release, similar setup as you with hair rest. My arrows were all going to the right (opposite because I am shooting lefty) until I realized if I line up the string on the target and not pay any attention to where the arrow is pointing that the arrow will go wherever the string is lined up to, just have to adjust up or down. In my sight picture the arrow is pointing way left of the target (would point way right if right handed) so much so that I would never think that it would ever hit the target but it does. Which makes sense, the arrow is going to go the direction that the string is pushing it, no matter which way it is pointing, within reason of course.
Hey! I'd like to make a question: I saw you shot right handed but place the arrow on the right side so, have you got a left handed bow or it is made exactly for this purpose? and why did you make this choice instead of placing the arrow as usual? Thanks and great video!
He’s got a left handed bow. He got the bow to put the arrow on the right side so that he can draw with his thumb. The arrow is traditionally put on the right side when drawing with the thumb because of the archer paradox and the torsion of the string when aiming.
Love your videos, you are very informative, and pleasant to listen to. I had an Oneida Areo back in the day, it was a very fine working bow, but has heavy, and IMO loud, too loud. so I went back to my stickbow since. It might be time for a new Oneida. Thanks
It's not that your aeroforce was too loud, but that you were probably shooting too light of an arrow in overall weight. I shoot 60# @31 with a 625 grain setup. (2317xx75 /125 tip.) Really tames it down while keeping good hunting speed.
@@lancemckinney914 Your most likely correct, I went with the lightest I could find back in the day, thinking lighter is faster... well know I know, I just shoot instinctive stick bow now, if I'm loud, I have no body to blame it on... lol
I have to try to use a LH oneida phoenix with a thumb release after watching this video! I guess I'll have to find a perfect arrow shaft for it so it doesn't go to the left of the target!
if i had the chance to own a oneida I would shoot it thumb release for precision shooting and for rapid slavic shooting. Thank you for sharing your experience Armin☕😊🙏🏹
Miguel i shoot the Phoenix every week; love this bow ! i shoot ir with fingures and some times using a release, both does work excellent …. but oneida does not work verx good with thumb …. i did try several times …. reason i think is the very steap string angle ! ….the thumb release is slipping all the time on me and is not very consistent …Rg
How's the weight difference feel in your arm between shooting this and the wood bows, I think those are somewhere around 4-5ibs vs the 1-2ibs of a primative bows. And how's the let off vs no let off?
@@ArminHirmer I haven't shot a Oneida or similar but I switched from standard compounds to recurve a few years ago and yeah going from the weight of a compound to a recurve is noticeable but with the style of shooting you do it's not like you're holding your arm up and aiming for 20 seconds before shooting
Hi...I hope you will make another review on this with the best adjustment of the arrow rest and with a heavier arrows with about 350 spine probably with a broad head.. poundage of the bow to be adjusted about 45 above suitable for hunting...I can hear no string sound ...it is so smooth...what about any handshock feelings? overall it is an awesome reviewed which even though I don't own a Oneida bow but it had been one of my ambition to try it as you had done... awesome 👍👍👍
Is the one from the link you shared the same bow as yours? I mean it looks like it can only be drawn with the usual Mediterranean release. How to get the thumb release version of this bow?
hello armin, great videos as usual. I have a question ( i dont' know where to post it instead of here): i never see you try a kassai bow. Seems to be very popular, what do you think of it ?
Modern dual cam bows don’t handle finger shooting well they are meant to operate with a release aide. There amazing precision machines and it’s a super fun way to shoot. Use the tool the right way. You can buy cheap lever bows for finger releases

I was looking forward to this and I wouldn't mind seeing more videos with this bow. A very cool one
This bow is pretty like Adelle after losing weight!
I’ve been looking for a rest for my brand new Osprey. This is a big help. Thank you!

thank you :)
I have the tar tar bow and I love love it. As a trad archer I would only ever shoot the onieda compound. Its the only compound bow I like.
thats why I got this one, the others wheelies... I dont care :D
Really enjoyed this one. I have seen the Oneida bow come up in a few videos recently which is interesting, very unusual bow. Fun review.

makes sense
I love that your shooting this with thumb!!
That'll fix your issues buddy. I have one on my aeroforce lever bow, and absolutely love it. Will be ordering another one for my other lever bow!
I like that one, reminds me of Batman. So cool that you shoot that with thumb release.😁👍Nice.
With the bag of black plastic bits that came with the bow you can decrease the let off at full draw if it’s too much as it is
Absolutely love this
A compound bow with a thumb release? Cool

I just built a lever action bow and thumb release is 100% the way to go. Anyone arguing for three finger simply doesn't know how to shoot thumb.
Awesome. I need that rest.

Thank you for video!
Yes in the video before

Aaaah nature!
Hi Armin, you shoot with a glove instead of the thumbring. Is it a special glove ? Do you have a make or brand or anything?
Freddie Archery, Korean
@@ArminHirmer thank you! I found a shop in the Netherlands that sell them. Bought one to try.
This is awesome! Is khatra even worth doing on a bow like this? I wonder how much of a speed boost it'll give you :P

very different obviously :) way heavier and the let off feels somehow weird for a while

Traditional Re-pound thumb release shooting by Armin Hirmer. Make archery great again!

Beautiful bow...I forgot about Oneida :(
Is the one from the link you shared the same bow as yours? I mean it looks like it can only be drawn with the usual Mediterranean release. How to get the thumb release version of this bow?
if you are a right handed archer you just order a left hand bow
@@ArminHirmer Thanks
maybe try some contact cement on the bottom of the shelf rest?
hello armin, great videos as usual. I have a question ( i dont' know where to post it instead of here): i never see you try a kassai bow. Seems to be very popular, what do you think of it ?
my first "horse bow" was Kassai fiberglass. if I get my hands on one, I will test it :)
Looks like it’s working out for you, especially that last arrow rest
the foam/fur rat has more charm, but the boondock one is more reliable
Is the grip symmetrical? Is it comfortable on your left hand ?
almost, but works quite well. One could otherwise get the scales from the RH bow I guess. But its fine as it is
I’d love to see an update on your progress with this bow.
Lars Andersen has my bow :)
Let a friend borrow something and they saw part of it off.. always the case.
Cool, inspiring. I wonder if one could shot a normal compound that uses cam with a thumb ring 🤔.
I read somewhere, that they might not like it that much because of the string rolling from the thumb

Thats why I love to shoot my 67lbs 30" vegh turkish bow, it feels like a real weapon. SpeedXD
What kind of bow is that? Recurve or compound?
hybrid :) but it is a compound so to say
@@ArminHirmer it's a repound.
Do you not perform khatra with this bow because it is mechanical? Or is it a very small amount? I don't have experience with compounds.
It’s a Centre shot bow, you usually don’t need khatra
@@ArminHirmer Thank you for that knowledge! I will have to try one someday.
Where can i get a glove like that?

@@ArminHirmer thanks a bunch!
Does this bow have mechanical let off like a cammed compound? Never seen a compound bow like this before. Very cool.
has some wheels and levers, I have no idea :)
@@ArminHirmer by let off I just meant that the draw weight gets lighter at full draw. Thanks for the reply anyhow lol.

Please increase the poundage. I wanna see how it performs at that poundage.
very soon

no, its a centre shot bow
I bet the green arrow Oliver Queen give you this bow 😅😅
Get a right handed bow
And now this bow is ruined,
Works still pretty well for the intended purpose:D
